Findings: found that safety management systems and demands to perform hot works are varied between shipping companies. Research limitations/implications: management of specific high risk job as hot work to be unified. Practical implications: suggestion is given to unify procedures of hot work management Social implications: reduction of risk to happen undesired events and mitigations of hazards associated with hot work. Originality/value: recommendation to shipping companies for modification of safety management system where is necessary to improve safety on board.

Opis:
This study assesses the operational safety and security of a category one airport in Nigeria, using the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja (NAIA) as the case study airport. Data were sourced using structured questionnaire and oral interviews. A total of 180 questionnaires were administered and 165 questionnaires were retrieved, amounting to a 91.7% rate of response. The structured questionnaire used aimed at identifying various safety and security parameters in the study area. This study examined the trend of the effectiveness of safety and security variable in airport operations, safety and employee’s attitude towards safety risk management using the Multicriteria Decision Analysis model to achieve this objective. The results show the weighty level, satisfaction index and effective index of the safety and security parameters used in the analysis with their score and effective index graph. Recommendation on how to improve the airport safety operations were made following policy implication on how to improve the safety management system of the airport.

Opis:
Analyzing the level of Polish transport safety culture can be seen that it is now dependent on the culture of safety management within the organization and the requirements and recommendations of law in this field for different modes of transport (air, rail, road, water). Of the four basic types of transport requirements are widely developed in the aviation, rail, and water – the sea. In order to harmonize the requirements for transport safety so it appears advisable to develop a platform for exchange of safety information for different modes of transport, and the development of good practices multimodal offering the possibility of improving Polish transport safety. Described in the publication of the proposal in addition to the alignment platform experience and knowledge in the field of transport safety in all its kinds, it can also be a tool for perfecting new operators of public transport.
Analizując poziom kultury bezpieczeństwa transportu Polski, można zauważyć, że jest on obecnie zależny od kultury zarządzania bezpieczeństwem w organizacji oraz od wymagań i zaleceń prawa w tym zakresie. Z czterech podstawowych rodzajów transportu (lotniczy, kolejowy, drogowy, wodny) wymagania te są szeroko rozwinięte w transporcie lotniczym, kolejowym i wodnym – morskim. W celu ujednolicenia wymagań bezpieczeństwa transportu zasadne wydaje się więc opracowanie platformy umożliwiającej wymianę informacji w zakresie bezpieczeństwa dla różnych gałęzi transportu oraz opracowanie multimodalnego systemu dobrych praktyk dających możliwość poprawy bezpieczeństwa transportu Polski. Opisana w artykule propozycja platformy, oprócz wyrównania doświadczeń i wiedzy w zakresie bezpieczeństwa transportu we wszystkich jego rodzajach, może być również narzędziem doskonalenia nowych operatorów transportu zbiorowego.

Opis:
Safety is generally characterised as the state of being “safe”, the condition of being protected from harm or other non-desirable consequences. One effective way of achieving it is to implement a safety management system (SMS). SMS should be seen as an aggregate strategic aspect of standard business management, understanding its high priority to safety. This article describes and illustrates SMS in aviation, focusing on the similarities and differences in the system approaches adopted by selected Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs) with the primary focus on the safety level. The main goal is to provide a structural comparison of the system framework within individual CAAs and its explanation in safety-related documents. This article also dealt with the chosen safety approach (reactive, proactive and predictive) and safety performance indicators (SPIs), forming a quality and effective safety system that maintains an acceptable safety level. Finally, this article is mainly based on datasets publicly available through the International Civil Aviation Organisation, Transport Canada, Civil Aviation Safety Authority Australia, Federal Aviation Administration, UK Civil Aviation Authority, Civil Aviation Administration of China and Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand websites and documentation related to safety.

This article presents some of the generalised results of this research conducted in the form of a diagnostic survey among Safety Managers and a review of safety risk management procedures, including the rules of change risk evaluation, applied in selected civil aviation organisations subject to the survey. This publication aimed to put them under the discussion of experts interested in the issues. Important problems resulting from the necessity to meet general guidelines standardising processes of risk management, formulated in international law regulations [2], as well as in advisory materials of the International Civil Aviation Organisation [6-8], and others [3, 4], including national ones [11], in confrontation with the need for their practical application, were described. Concerning the general rule of risk evaluation described there, inconsistencies in interpretation of the scale of probability and frequency indices and their influence on the evaluation context were pointed out. A model, considering the time aspect in Event Tree Analysis - ETA procedures based on [5, 9], was proposed. Perceived threats to the results of change risk evaluation caused by applying the "the worst foreseeable situation" principle were described. A different approach in the evaluation of change risk based on a comprehensive assessment of the impact of all identified risks on the defined effect was also proposed. Proposals were made to eliminate the disadvantage resulting from the definition of the probability index value – "extremely improbate".

Opis:
Change management is considered to be an important element of safety management systems, lack of which can lead to industrial accidents and disasters. Therefore, risk management related to changes introduced to the railway system has become one of the processes covered by regulations aimed at harmonising the rules of railway transport in the whole European Union (EU). This article presents the results of a comparative analysis of available source materials in terms of determining the manner and level of implementation of EU-wide rules for risk management related to introduced changes. The analysis was based on data from five selected EU Member States. A common issue raised in practically all of the reports analysed is the lack of detailed definitions of terms such as significant change, insignificant change, the impact of change on the safety of the railway system. Attempts to solve this situation have been specified by us and evaluated from the viewpoint of safety engineering.

Bezpieczeństwo pracy w górnictwie jest jednym z trzech podstawowych filarów strategii zrównoważonego rozwoju zapewniającego dbałość nie tylko o sferę ochrony środowiska i sferę społeczną, ale także i ekonomiczną. W artykule omówiono zagadnienia związane z kosztami wypadków przy pracy oraz poprawy bezpieczeństwa na stanowiskach pracy. Przedstawiono również korzyści wynikające z właściwego zarządzania w obszarze bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy w przedsiębiorstwie górniczym w aspekcie ekonomicznej rentowności przedsiębiorstwa.
Work safety in mining is one of the three basic pillars of the sustainable development strategy, i.e. which ensure development in the area of environment, society as well as economic one. The article discusses issues related to the costs of accidents at work and the improvement of safety at workplaces. The benefits of proper management in the area of occupational health and safety in a mining enterprise in the aspect of the economic viability of the enterprise were also presented.

W artykule podjęto temat dotyczący systemu zarządzania bezpieczeństwem i higieną pracy na przykładzie przedsiębiorstwa produkcyjnego. W ramach celu poznawczego, opierając się na metodach casestudy oraz badaniu ankietowym dokonano analizy i oceny systemu bhp, funkcjonującego w analizowanym przedsiębiorstwie, pod kątem stanu wiedzy i zaangażowania pracowników w działania, w ramach tego systemu. Artykuł kończą wnioski z przeprowadzonego badania oraz propozycje usprawnień w podjętym temacie.
In the article the topic concerning industrial safety management system was taken into consideration, based on example of manufacturing company. The article divided into two parts: theoretical and cognitive ones. In the framework of the theoretical purpose of the article described following issues: industrial safety (IS), IS system, risk, legal and normative regulations concerning IS system. In the framework of the cognitive purpose, based on methods: case study and poll analysis and assessment of IS system functioning in analysedcompany were done, relating to knowledge and engagement of employees in actions relating to IS system. At the end of the article conclusions from research and proposals of improvements in analysed topic were discussed.

The following article presents thorough analysis of the security system of the Republic of Poland. Structure of the state security system was shown in the form of detailed diagrams. Contextual diagram, along with diagrams of the first and second order have been shown and discussed. The linkage between the state security system and the external environment has been pointed out. The management subsystem, implementation subsystems and internal subsystems have been demonstrated.

The aim of this study is to study compounds, that quality, as part of standardised management systems, affects safety, which is one of the primary elements for the functioning and development of an organisation. In the presented paper many attempts were made to indicate that quality is closely connected to safety, and as part of standardised management systems, significantly affects the improvement of the effectiveness of actions undertaken, consistent with the adopted strategy and the vision of an organisation. The conclusions from the conducted research state that standardised management systems are aimed at improving and maintaining quality as well as the fact that maintained safety allows to achieve it. The research results are part of a multi-aspect analysis of the Central Pomeranian entrepreneurship used to build models of quality shaping in organisations within the qualitative foresight framework. Obtained results, from more than 1,600 entities, confirm the hypothesis that safety is an important element of quality development under standardised management systems.
Celem opracowania jest badanie związków, że jakość, w ramach znormalizowanych systemów zarządzania, oddziałuje na bezpieczeństwo, które stanowi jeden z głównych elementów funkcjonowania i rozwoju. W opracowaniu starano się wykazać, korelację jakości i bezpieczeństwa, która bezpośrednio wpływa na poprawę efektywności podejmowanych działań, zgodnych z przyjętą strategią oraz wizją organizacji. W ramach przeprowadzonych badań stwierdza się, że znormalizowane systemy zarządzania mają na celu doskonalenie i utrzymanie jakości, a zachowane bezpieczeństwo pozwala je osiągnąć. Szczególnie uwidacznia się zjawisko to w procesie planistycznym oraz realizacji. Uzyskane dane w ramach przeprowadzonej ankietyzacji z ponad 1600 podmiotów potwierdzają hipotezę, że bezpieczeństwo stanowi ważny kształtowania jakości, w ramach znormalizowanych systemów zarządzania.

Purpose: Many factors influence the safety of food, feed, cosmetics or packaging for these products. These include legal requirements, proper people behaviour, management systems and the organisational culture used in enterprises, as well as activities related to the prevention/minimisation/elimination of microbiological, chemical and physical hazards. A very important link in ensuring the safety of manufactured products are, among others, suppliers, including service providers in the area of pest control. Providers of these services must adapt to the requirements of the enterprise to which they provide services. In turn, the requirements of the enterprise are dictated by the requirements of the management standard for compliance with which the enterprise maintains the certificate; therefore, the requirements of individual management standards should be known to pest control companies to avoid the risk of non-compliance. The main purpose of the article was to present the importance of knowing the requirements of the food safety management system by the service provider in the area of pest control. Design/methodology/approach: An analysis of the requirements of selected food safety management standards in the pest control area was carried out. Findings: The analysis showed similarities in requirements in the area of pest control of selected food safety management standards. Practical implications: Based on the analysis, recommendations for good practices in the field of protection against pests were formulated. Good practice guidelines should be used by service providers in the pest control area. Originality/value: The article contains important guidelines on good practices in the field of protection against pests.

Temat ten został podjęty w nawiązaniu do aktualnych wymagań prawa europejskiego w tym zakresie – Rozporządzenie Komisji (UE) nr 445/2011 z dnia 10 maja 2011 r. w sprawie systemu certyfikacji Podmiotów Odpowiedzialnych za Utrzymanie (ECM) w zakresie obejmującym wagony towarowe. Rozporządzenie to nakłada na podmioty odpowiedzialne za utrzymanie pojazdów kolejowych obowiązek budowy i wdrożenia Systemu Zarządzania Utrzymaniem (Maintenance Management System – MMS). W artykule przedstawiono rozwiązania dedykowane dla najczęściej występującego w Polsce typu ECM - Przewoźnika kolejowego. W pracy opisano również wymagania prawne oraz przedstawiono rozwiązania przeznaczone do zarządzania ryzykiem operacyjnym, z uwzględnieniem ryzyka technicznego dla ECM.
This article presents issues related to the maintenance of railway vehicles. Subject was taken in connection with the current requirements of European law in this area – Commission Regulation (EU) No. 445/2011 of 10 May 2011 on a system of certification of entities in charge of maintenance for freight wagons and amending Regulation (EC) No. 653/2007. This regulation imposes on the parties responsible for maintenance of the railway vehicles construction of Maintenance Management System (MMS). The article focuses on the presentation of ECM solutions dedicated to the Polish market realities, where the entity is usually the railway undertaking. There is also described the assumptions and form dedicated to operational risk assessment, taking into account technical risk for ECM.

Opis:
Purpose: The aim of the paper is to analyze relations between the implementation of industry management systems in European Union countries. Design/methodology/approach: Critical literature analysis. Analysis of statistic data about: quality management system (ISO 9001:2015), environmental management system (ISO 14001:2015) and occupational health and safety management system (ISO 45001:2018) in European Union countries. Findings: The publication focuses on the analysis of quantitative relations between the industry standards that make up the integrated management system. The analysis of data concerning the number of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 27001:2013, ISO 22000:2018 and ISO 45001:2018 certificates implemented in the European Union countries allows to conclude that there are correlations between the number of implemented particular standards. In particular, the presence of a standard concerning the quality management system ISO 9001 is positively correlated with all other analyzed certified management systems. The results of the analysis support the H1 hypothesis, which says: the presence of other industry management systems is positively correlated with the presence of ISO 9001:2015 quality management system in organizations. Originality/value: In the paper we found that in most European Union countries, implementation of particular standards, especially ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, is strongly correlated.
