Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to answer the question: does the pandemic affect the ability to achieve the sustainable development goals? Design/methodology/approach: The article analyzes selected, available literature on sustainable development, from the genesis of the phenomenon to the current situation. It invoked, among other things, the idea of the European Green Deal. The most current issues related to the pandemic reality were addressed. The themes and changes highlighted are based on data from available reports and statistical analyses. Findings: By the time the pandemic broke out, the sustainability goals had been achieved gradually. But the pandemic has forced policymakers to think long-term. The conditions for transition to the green economy, i.e. the green transition, have also become crucial. In many countries, including Poland, the need for better achievement of social goals in addition to economic or environmental ones has become apparent. Further work is needed to achieve the sustainable development goals. Research limitations/implications: The text refers to a limited number of studies. The problems presented in the paper still need to be empirically confirmed in relation to a greater number of examples, which should result in the publication of subsequent studies. It will also be necessary to fully diagnose the post-pandemic situation and retrace the threads taken up. Originality/value: The article points to already visible changes, being the result of the continuing pandemic, from the perspective of sustainable development goals.

The main objective of the survey is to identify changes in consumer behavior and the determinants that influenced purchasing decisions during the Covid-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: An interview questionnaire was used in the survey. The survey was conducted through a random selection of a sample. The electronic survey was conducted in April 2021. The questionnaire was completed by 220 people. The media were the tools to reach the respondents social networking and the survey itself was made available on the facebook.com portal, on thematic groups associating consumers of various products. The research was of a pilot nature. This limited the sample size and scope of the research. Findings: The analysis of the survey results shows that the COVID-19 pandemic affected the purchasing behavior of 76% of women and 62% of men. Surveys have shown how shopping habits have changed during the coronavirus pandemic. The respondents said they started purchasing more products online and that the frequency of shopping decreased, but they purchased more products at one go. The respondents bought only essential products and spent a larger portion of their money on protective measures than before. For 24% of women and 38% of men the pandemic had no impact on their consumer behavior. Originality/value: The analysis of the literature leads to the conclusion that there is not much research on consumer behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper is addressed to representatives of the scientific world dealing with the topic of consumer behavior and all those interested in this issue.

Purpose: This article is devoted to identifying major problems and obstacles to the digital transformation of SMEs in Poland in the context of the Covid crisis and to indicating directions and methods to improve the digitisation level in the SME sector. Design/methodology/approach: This article seeks to answer the question of what the SME digitisation level in Poland is, what the main obstacles hampering the digital transformation process are and how they can be removed. The following research methods were used: reference works review, analysis of secondary sources (reports from OECD, the World Bank, the European Commission, the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), Statistics Poland) and deductive reasoning. Findings: The digitisation level of SMEs in Poland is relatively low and the main obstacles to accelerating the digital transformation include the financial and competence limitations which can be removed only with institutional support. Practical implications: This article mentions methods and directions of measures initiated by the government and other institutions to reduce obstacles to SME digital transformation in Poland. Originality/value: The article has informative values as it contributes to the development of knowledge on the impact of the Covid-related crisis on the speed of the digital transformation in the SME sector in Poland and in other countries worldwide.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the reduction of services, including transport services. Companies operating in public water passenger transport were not prepared for the implementation of restrictions because, in some countries, the general procedures for the safe operation of regular public water passenger transport were not known. The main contribution of this paper is to discuss the implementation of the current system of safe operation of regular public water transport services in the Netherlands and Spain to a generally applicable model for transport companies. This article links these measures with the general plan for the release and tightening of measures of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic known as COVIDAUTOMAT.

Opis:
Purpose: The study aimed to review the current literature on the psychosocial consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in psychiatric care. Design/methodology/approach: Based on the available literature, the author discussed and grouped the stressors related to the coronavirus pandemic. Next, the author drew attention to the harmful effects of pandemic stressors on psychosocial consequences. The author based his considerations on the latest world literature on the subject - only from the pandemic period, i.e., 2020-2022. For this purpose, the author studied mainly scientific articles and electronic sources. The author used the following professional scientific databases: Taylor & Francis online, PubMed, and Google Scholar to collect scientific literature. Findings: The SARS-CoV-2 virus has changed the image of everyday functioning in society, which has had an impact on mental health. The coronavirus pandemic contributed to psychosocial disorders that significantly reduced the quality of life. There has been a significant increase in depression, drug-induced disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorders. In the literature analysis, the author also indicated a rise in loneliness among seniors, increased domestic violence, and an increased risk of suicidal behavior. Social implications: The pandemic has shown investment in health means an investment in the economy, security, and the world's future. An efficient and safe health system is a raison d'etat, but it is also a colossal civilization challenge. The author noted the great importance of psychiatric care in alleviating stressors related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The author also pointed to the urgent need to subsidize psychiatry in Poland and increase human resources in this area. Originality/value: The author addressed the article to scientists, health care researchers, and managers/directors managing medical entities to make them aware that the coronavirus pandemic has serious health consequences, primarily in the mental sphere, posing a challenge health care systems around the world. The article's value highlights the invaluable and underestimated role of psychiatry in dealing with individual, institutional and social difficulties related to COVID-19 and future emerging infectious diseases. According to the author, the post-pandemic situation in psychiatry should consider the stressors identified during the pandemic and its psychosocial consequences. In this way, doctors can accurately diagnose a patient and propose an effective treatment path, treating the patient comprehensively and holistically.

Purpose: The aim of the research was to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the preferences of employees belonging to generation Z regarding the selected elements of the incentive system. Design/methodology/approach: The research was conducted in 2018, in Poland before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and repeated during its duration in June 2021. Each time the research group consisted of 200 respondents belonging to generation Z working in Polish enterprises. In the standardized questionnaire used in our study, the representatives of the generation Z were asked to assign importance to 22 elements of the incentive system broken down into financial, non-financial and non-material incentives. The degree of importance of a given motivator was assumed as a measure of employees' preferences. Findings: The research results indicate that the duration of the pandemic caused a change in the preferences of young workers in terms of the ways of motivating them by employers. This applied to a greater extent to men rather than to women. The greatest increase in the value of the importance rank took place in the case of remote work, work in a state-owned enterprise and the health benefits system offered by the employer. The period of the pandemic increased the sense that young Poles were in danger of losing their jobs and having their salaries reduced. This is evidenced in particular by the increased importance of job opportunities in a state-owned enterprise and the amount of remuneration. Originality/value: The paper is mainly addressed to people responsible for shaping the incentive system. All the main motivators were included in the study, which provided a holistic view of how the preferences of young Poles belonging to generation Z changed under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the context of the pandemic, usually selected motivators are examined, especially the hybrid work model.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to analyze and evaluate the usefulness of the cost accounting system of selected enterprises in the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship for managing their costs under the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: The article presents the results of the author’s survey research. This research was carried out using the Computer-Assisted Web Interview survey method. Business entities from the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship with an entry in the National Court Register were invited to the survey via e-mail. These were commercial companies, mainly limited liability companies and joint-stock companies. Findings: The main conclusion of the study is that the full cost accounting used in business entities is partially useful for effective cost management of the studied entities. With the COVID-19 pandemic, there was little impact on the usefulness of cost information extracted from applied costing. Originality/value: The COVID-19 pandemic has destabilized all areas of economic and social life in Poland. Therefore, an important issue is the analysis and evaluation of its impact, which is still faced today by representatives of various industries and sectors of the Polish economy. The considerations presented here concern evaluating the utility of cost accounting systems in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This information can be useful for those dealing with cost accounting issues and the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in theory, as well as business owners, controlling managers or accounting services staff.

Opis:
Purpose: The end of the first quarter of 2020 is the beginning of a new, difficult time in the functioning of transport companies, as well as the entire Polish and world economy. The appearance of Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) resulted in a number of market restrictions and a sharp decline in transport orders. Enterprises had to change the way they were managed and operated, had to adapt to a different economic reality in order to continue to prosper. The aim of the article is to define the essence of managing a transport company in the new market and economic conditions that appeared during the Covid-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: The research procedure included review of polish and foreign literature, analysis of legal acts, questionnaire research, analysis of the content of internal documents of transport companies, method of analysis and synthesis, case study, methods of inductive and deductive reasoning. The article presents the results of scientific research on the impact of Covid-19 on the management and decisions made in a transport company. Findings: The high level of impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the management of a transport company has been demonstrated. The factor that most influenced the management and decisions of transport companies is the decline or fear of a decline in contracts for transport services. Transport companies are afraid of the further negative effects of the pandemic, and therefore do not want to take out investment loans in order to develop the company. The article discusses the activities of transport companies and the management of a transport company in crisis conditions. Research limitations/implications: The article presents a survey carried out in Polish transport companies from the Podkarpackie and Lubelskie voivodships. Therefore, the research results concern the area of south-eastern Poland. Practical implications: The results of the research may be helpful for managers of transport companies (management decisions made) in order to limit the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on their business activities. Originality/value: The presented research and conclusions provide practical guidance to managers about what decisions and actions can improve the economic condition of their transport companies in the difficult period of the Covid-19 pandemic, based on the example of the analyzed transport companies.

This paper provides comprehensive research on the linearity between the efficiency and safety of inland waterway transport (IWT). For this purpose, methods of statistical analysis are used. The efficiency of IWT is expressed by the transportation outputs, which today are strongly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper aims to find whether the demand for IWT has an impact on the accident occurrence probability. The results show the linearity between shipping accidents and the outputs of freight and passenger IWT. The COVID-19 crisis has a higher impact on the efficiency of passenger navigation than on freight navigation. With reduced demand, the level of safety is higher but at the cost of declining efficiency in the transport sector.

Purpose: The main purpose of this research is to investigate acceptability of different delivery methods in e-grocery and to show the direction of e-grocery development desired by consumers. Design/methodology/approach: For the purposes of the article, qualitative research (FGI) was carried out, the research sample consisted of 36 participants differing in terms of age and purchasing routines. The research was conducted on Polish citizens, and due to the prevailing pandemic, the interviews were conducted online. In addition, the authors analyzed the literature on the subject, which helped to distinguish and describe the methods of delivery. Findings: The conducted qualitative research proves that the most friendly and known form of delivery is door-to-door delivery. High hopes are placed in the development of stationary parcel machines (with different cooling zones) for perishable products. Drones have been recognized as a solution for the future that is currently not adapted to the needs of the present and is not covered by legal standards. Similar concerns were highlighted in the case of an unmanned mobile refrigerator. Receiving online purchases in a stationary store is a kind of a compromise between online shopping with delivery and traditional grocery shopping carried out entirely in the store. Moreover, older groups of interviewees emphasized the issue of online shopping safety during the Covid-19 pandemic. The youngest group of interviewees emphasized ecological factors such as reducing the carbon footprint as an important issue of e-grocery purchases, and perceived the use of too large packaging (too much plastic) as a minus. Originality/value: The expectations of the demand side as to the method of delivering e-grocery purchases were examined. The advantages and disadvantages of individual solutions for the delivery of perishable products purchased online were indicated, according to the assessment of representatives of different age groups with different purchasing routines (division into stationary and non-stationary shoppers).

Purpose: The purpose of the research presented in this paper was to identify the factors that determine the perception of sport sponsorship in terms of sustainability development and CSR activities in the era of Covid-19. Design/methodology/approach: The goal was achieved by literature review and presentation of the results of relevant pilot research. The research sample (random) consisted of questionnaires returned by 203 respondents via the Internet. In the empirical analysis workshops, binomial models in the form of logit models were used, due to which the estimation of 8 logit models (4 full and 4 reduced) was carried out, while considering their determinants in 5 categories. Findings: The results show that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, participants in sports events pay attention to the sponsor's activities in terms of sustainable development and CSR. This is evidenced by various perceptions of his activity. These results confirm that combining sponsorship with sustainable development and CSR help to create a positive image of the company, especially in the times of crisis. Research limitations/implications: In the period of many restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, sports sponsors have limited opportunities to display their brand, thus creating their image. Additionally, the lack of sports gatherings limited the interactions occurring on the plane of the sports event – sponsor-beneficiaries of the event. Covid-19, in a way, forced brands to act in a sustainable manner and CSR. The commercialization of sport introduced sustainable development and CSR as means to achieve organizational goals and the Covid-19 pandemic has become a period of adjusting activities in the area of sustainable development and CSR to new conditions and social expectations. The obtained test results confirm this. Social implications: The coronavirus pandemic and government-imposed social distancing measures have had a strong impact on the sports sponsorship rights market, thereby impacting sustainability and CSR activities. Therefore, the article answered the question whether the Covid-19 era is a place to combine sports sponsorship with sustainable development and CSR? Originality/value: The discussed issue is in line with the current concept of sustainable development and CSR. Sustainable sports sponsorship allows you to build a positive image of the company and maintain a long-term competitive advantage, even in such difficult times related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The article is intended for both managers and researchers dealing with the subject of sustainable development and CSR.

Purpose: This article is written due to the need to study the investment behavior of households in Slovakia and changes in the investment behavior of households due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: The main methods used in the article are analysis, comparison, and synthesis. These methods were used in the researched issue of investment behavior. The main document from which the data were obtained was The Slovak survey of the financial situation and household consumption as a part of the European Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS) published by National Bank of Slovakia with cooperation of European Central Bank. These surveys were published in 2010, 2014 and 2017. By mutual comparison of these surveys and subsequent analysis, we can observe changes in the investment behavior of households in recent years. The analyzes were partially supplemented by various studies from the last year as well as partial outputs of the European Household Finance and Consumption Survey, which was researched in 2021, but at the time of writing this article had not yet been published. Findings: The results of the research presented clearly indicate a changing trend in the behavior of household investments. Strongly conservative households are gradually beginning to trust investment in mutual funds, bonds, and shares, and the share of funds deposited in deposits is gradually declining and is approaching the European average. Investment in real estate remains the most popular investment in Slovakia. These are often the main real estate used by households for housing or investment properties. Originality/value: The article presents interesting findings in the area of investment behavior of households in Slovakia and points to the upcoming change in investment behavior. The results of the research will help to set and update the content of subjects dealing with financial literacy and investing at a technically oriented university.

Opis:
Purpose: The main objective of the research presented in this article was to identify factors supporting sustainable talent management in times of COVID - 19 crisis in small and medium-sized companies in Lower Silesia province, as well as to conceptualise the notion of talent. In order to achieve this goal, the first part of the article explains the meaning of the term "talent management" in the scientific literature on management, and then, on the basis of the conducted research, an attempt was made to answer the question: which of the determinants of the "talent management" process are important in the ongoing COVID crisis-19 and guarantee their sustainable development. Design/methodology/approach: For the research presented in this paper, a literature analysis in the area of resource sustainability, talent management and crisis was used. The studies in literature also included secondary sources, which were communications from research of similar scope. The combination of different research methods allowed to obtain a broader context of the studied phenomenon and ensured a higher quality of the conducted research. The diversity of methods was aimed at achieving a consistency of the empirical basis for the inference. A diagnostic survey was adopted as the leading method. The remaining methods applied in the paper were auxiliary (complementary). Findings: „Talent management" and having talented employees in a global economy is a strategically important resource affecting the market value of the organisation itself and providing a competitive advantage. Building a significant intellectual capital of the organisation requires the use of appropriate methods and tools to support the management, systematic measurement, constant comparison with competitors, elimination of barriers and use of opportunities for development (and such becomes the current crisis). Research limitations/implications: In the future, research will be continued on a larger research sample. Practical implications: The article presents results of research conducted among several dozen companies in Poland. The findings are very interesting and encourage research on a larger scale. They are a valuable source of information for managers responsible for creating the intellectual capital of the organisation in terms of acquiring and developing talented employees. On the other hand, for people responsible for recruiting employees, the results may be useful in terms of developing a candidate's profile, in particular when identifying the key competences of talented employees. The results also indicate the demand of the Polish market (especially medium-sized companies) for infrastructure that enables talent acquisition, improvement and development. Originality/value Based on empirical research, the article proposes an original set of systemic solutions for talent management to improve organisational performance.
