    This work focuses on several aspects of water-related transportation laws as well as drainage law introduced in the Kingdom of Poland before 1860. Thus, while focusing on a) laws concerning the removal of diverse type of obstacles from the rivers used for official navigation; b) establishing of riverside towing routes; c) construction of rivers verst signs on the river banks, this research also deals with the introduction of provisions concerning draining and receiving of waters, which had a huge impact on the road construction and maintenance process in Poland for the first half of the 19th century.

    This text focused on the implementation of the provisions concerning civil transport services rendered for the sake of the Russian occupational (Active) Army stationed in the Kingdom of Poland by the Administrative Council of the Kingdom of Poland, there. The above-mentioned Transportation Act of May 4, 1858, generally refers though to the old solutions, mostly in force since 1831, or even from the time of the pre-revolutionary era. Writing down and introducing once again some of these provisions was, as it might seem, a part of the process of regulating within the frames of law, this aspect of relations between the invading Russian military power and the Polish subdued society.

    Artykuł przedstawia problematykę przepraw mostowych łączących Królestwo Polskie z Cesarstwem Rosyjskim do połowy XIX wieku w trzech głównych punktach: w Aleksocie, w Terespolu oraz Żółtkach. Analizie poddano odmienne uwarunkowania funkcjonowania tych przepraw mostowych, w tym o charakterze chronologicznym, oraz zwrócono uwagę na prawidłowość w ich zarządzie. Powtarzającym się zjawiskiem okazywało się bowiem sukcesywne dążenie władz rosyjskich, szczególnie od okresu Wiosny Ludów, do przejęcia mostów granicznych z rąk polskich i podporządkowania ich imperialnej władzy wojskowej bądź cywilnej.
    This article deals with the issues of borde bridges connecting till the mid of 19th century Kingdom of Poland and tzarist Russian Empire in three main points: Aleksota, Terespol and Źółtki towns. The different aspects of functioning of these bridges were analyzed, including a chronological view of the phenomenon; as well one drew attention to visible and clear tendency in their management. A repeated idea tended to occcur as - especially since the period of “Spring of Nations” - one could observe among Russian authorities kind of steady desire to take full controll over Polish- Russian border bridges from Polish hands and make them subject to the imperial rule of military or civilian origin only.

    The paper deals with an introduction to and examination of selected issues relating to Tsarist transportation administration structures, since their establishment in 1809, practically their governance was ended by Count Carl von Toll at the beginning of the 1840s. The main topics analysed here concern matters of the internal division of the whole of the administrative transportation network and its changes made by the main ministry, as well as some control and budgetary (or rather accounting problems) associated with transportation laws.

    The main aim of this article is to introduce road repair and building programmes and procedures that took place in both the Kingdom of Poland, as a whole, and the Masovian Province, in particular. Starting with legal matters, this article describes the variety of combined activities on the part of the state government and local authorities undertaken between 1816 and 1817, which shaped the future development of Polish routes for many years to come.

    The aim of this article is to present the endeavours undertaken in the 19th century by diverse governing bodies to build or (rebuild) and eventually improve the Polish water canal system. These activities concerned commissions from the Second Council of State, the Administrative Council, the Third Council of State and, inevitably, the Board of Land and Water Communications/Board of the 13th District of Communications, among others. In addition, some of the general state reports, especially those focusing on water transport issues, are analysed in this article. All of the researched matters deal with the following canals: Augustów, Windawa, Brudnów and Wisła-Narew.

    This paper focuses on the phenomenon of the strongly complicated process of education of cadets and officers of tsarist transportation services corps during the 1830s of the 19th century. While primarily commencing this short study with introduction and changes in the didactic process occurring in Saint Petersburg Institute of Corps of Engineers of Roads of Communication at the early stages of its development, the main scope of the research was to describe: a) changes and restriction in the accessibility to the very process of education given in this Institute, b) the alteration in the formal entry and most of all scientific requirements. c) the outcome and circumstances of final examinations, all happening during the third decade of 19th century.

    In May of 1844, more than twenty years after taking the first steps in the field of regulating watercourse transportation issues, the new law introducing strict water transportation measures in the Kingdom of Poland was accepted by the Russian Tsar. These new proposals, though seen as practically harsh and difficult, for instance, possibly limiting the opportunity of obtaining compensation payments might have given some new strong impulses for the development of Polish water transportations issues as a whole.

    Artykuł analizuje problematykę budowy mostów przyfortecznych w okupowanym przez Rosjan Królestwie Polskim w okresie po upadku powstania listopadowego. Ukazując rozwiązania przyjęte w dwu różnych twierdzach rosyjskich zlokalizowanych wewnątrz kraju, ukazano zarazem szerokie spectrum tej problematyki, i to z punktu widzenia wysiłków wojskowych władz okupacyjnych oraz lokalnej polskiej administracji cywilnej. Uzyskane dane pozwalają na postawienie tezy o zastosowaniu przy konstrukcji mostów przyfortecznych z omawianego okresu zarówno sprawdzonych metod konstrukcyjnych, jak i nowych rozwiązań projektowych, jak i o istotnych wahaniach co do charakteru i zakresu dostępności mostów przyfortecznych.
    The article analyzes problem of construction of the fortress bridges in Kingdom of Poland, when it was occupied by Russians in the period after the fall of November Uprising in 1831. By presenting of some diverse solutions adopted in two different Russian strongholds localized within the Polish territory, it was possible to show at the same time a broad spectrum of this phenomenon, focusing both on construction efforts made by Russian military occupation authorities as well as by the local Polish civilian administration. The obtained data should allow us to argue for construction in the mentioned period of fortress bridges with use of both already proven and established methods and of new solutions. In the same time one might add thesis concernig (especially visible among highest ranks staff of Russian army) significant uncertainty about the very nature and scope of possible availability of fortress bridges.

    The purpose of this paper is to examine the process of building, repairing and maintaining two types of main roads in the Kingdom of Poland, especially during the mid-19th century, when the overall process of expanding the local road transportation network started to considerably slow its pace. Publicly announced parts of official government reports have been taken into consideration in order to describe such endeavours by the Polish transportation authorities concerning first-class and secondary routes (generally paved with the usage of a standardized macadam system) during the period between 1843 and 1859.

    The aim of this article is to present the main proposals of two Tsarist Russia transportation laws, introduced in the spring of 1833 and at the turn of 1834. Both laws were prepared by Count Dmitry Bludov, then Minister of the Interior, and finally accepted by Tsar Nicholas I himself. Their main goal was to properly develop the Russian transportation network, but not too rapidly and without consuming a considerable amount of State Treasury funds.
