    Opis:
    The article discusses the development of the Italian railways between 2002 and 2015, taking into account the investment expenditure allocated to the growth of this transport mode in the period under investigation, as well as within a time horizon extending until 2026. The research has been complemented by an analysis of economic conditions. The paper describes the organizational structure of the Italian national railways, namely, the FS Group and its subsidiary companies, which manage the different sectors of the supply chain, rendering various services and supporting the activities undertaken across the group. Specific trends observed in passenger and cargo transport are analysed, with highspeed railway services given special consideration.

    Dostęp do transportu lotniczego jest jednym z wyznaczników rozwoju gospodarczego i konkurencyjności regionu. Jego rozwój przyczynia się do zwiększenia spójności społecznej, skracając odległość między najbardziej oddalonymi regionami Europy. Problem rozwoju transportu lotniczego podkreślany jest w Białej Księdze "Europejska polityka transportowa 2010, czas na podjęcie decyzji". Odzwierciedla ona założenia strategii lizbońskiej, gdzie zwraca się uwagę na znaczenie utrzymania lotniczej komunikacji pomiędzy portami regionalnymi oraz ośrodkami regionalnymi a dużymi ośrodkami centralnymi [5]. Artykuł stanowi analizę sytuacji na rynku usług portów lotniczych w Polsce.
    The access to air transport is one of the main determinant of economy development and competition of the region. Air transport development influences the social unity and shortens the distance between the most remote areas of Europe and the region. The problem of air transport development is underlined in the White Paper "European transport policy 2010, time to decide". The document shows the assumptions of the Lisbon Strategy, where emphasis is put on the importance of maintaining the air transport between the regional airports and regional centres and the big central units [5]. The article is an analysis of the situation on the market of the airport services in Poland.

    The aim of the paper is to present the author’s attempt to adapt the Servqual Method to study the quality attributes of passenger air services. This market is witnessing a growing dynamic of competition intensity and a distinctive trend consisting of focusing on improving the quality of the most important determinants in basic areas of this business. The method of comprehensive evaluation of this process and its consequences on the Polish market has so far not been scientifically researched. The paper attempts to fill this gap. The proposed solution consists in the introduction of a new, previously unused, research method to the system of analysis, assessment and measurement of the air services quality, which constitutes a specific contribution to the science. Innovation of its application consists in a detailed reformatting of the Servqual Method and adaptation of both tested criteria and research areas to the nomenclature, specific requirements and conditions of this service sector. Using this method, it is possible to conduct a comprehensive range of tests taking into account the correctness, effectiveness of measurement, possibility of specifying the conclusions and recommendations as well as modernity of their implementation. The research questionnaire constructed by the author serves this purpose, in which the most important criteria and research areas of the discussed scope of services have been proposed.

    Opis:
    The study assessed passengers’ satisfaction with the services of the Lagos Shuttle Train Services in Lagos, Nigeria. Two types of train, the Mass Transit Train (MTT) and the Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU), were covered. Using multistage sampling, 246 passengers were surveyed. It was found that the DMU passengers had higher socioeconomic profiles; the overall condition of the DMU was also better. Further analyses reveal that passengers’ satisfaction differed for the train types: the MTT passengers were more particular about the operational environment, while the DMU passengers were concerned with both physical characteristics and the operational environment. Generally, passengers were satisfied with accessibility, coverage, fare, safety at station and onboard, security at station, and security of luggage; however, the Lagos Shuttle Train Services was found wanting on several key indicators. Recommendations are proffered towards enhancing the service quality of the Lagos Shuttle Train Services.

    The article proposes methodological principles for substantiating the specialization of main railway lines based on the primary types of passenger or freight traffic in order to improve the level of transport services, economic efficiency, and reliability of the transportation process. The search for a solution to the problem provides a rational distribution of transport flows and investment measures, with the subsequent finding of a compromised operation for a set of effective alternatives.
