Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of the publication was to attempt to present housing cooperatives as a competitive entity in relation to other entities forming the „real estate stock”. The resource of housing cooperatives was presented and compared to the resource of other entities operating on the real estate market in Poland. It also shows how housing cooperatives are performing on the real estate market in Poland. Design/methodology/approach: Empirical research on the competitiveness of housing cooperatives in the real estate market was nationwide. The number of dwellings put into use by particular entities operating on the real estate market in Poland has been analysed with a division into voivodships. The standard of buildings put into use has been characterized, and the quality of housing stock management has been analysed. Data concerning the number of dwellings completed has been obtained from the Local Data Bank of the Central Statistical Office and from the Analysis and Monitoring System form the Real Estate Market (AMRON). Findings: The legally and historically established position of the owner of often huge housing resources and the gap between housing cooperatives to function without any assessment of their competitiveness. Legal changes, which include the right to transform a cooperative right into separate ownership of premises, the right to change the property manager from a cooperative to a competitive commercial entity, undoubtedly force housing cooperatives to compete in the housing market in Poland. Originality/value: To date, competition between operators in the property market has not been studied. In this publication, the authors examined the competitiveness of housing cooperatives in relation to other business entities.

Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to assess the innovation activities of companies in the EU countries, taking into consideration the external factors. Design/methodology/approach: This article focuses on the analysis of the most frequently used factors determining the external conditions of the companies innovation activities with the use of taxonomic analysis. The research was conducted on the annual data for years 2017-2019 for the selected European countries. The data from the databases of OECD and Eurostat were used in the analysis. Findings: The results of the conducted analysis allow to conclude that the state and organisation of innovation activities in the economy and thus, in the companies is strongly dependent on external factors. The averages and quartiles were calculated to show the dynamics of the factors. Moreover, Ward dendrogram was presented to show the similarities and differences in shaping the innovation activities. The synthetic indicator was used to determine the development path and the map of objects was drawn. There is a strict connection between the amount of expenditures on R&D and the employees’ education concerning the implementation of the innovation activities in all analysed countries. In particular, it is visible in the Scandinavian countries and in Luxembourg. In Poland the innovation activities of companies is similar to the ones in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The low level of GERD causes that many companies have financial problems and despite high dynamics of industrial production, the innovativeness is still at a low level. Research limitations/implications: The comparison of Poland with other countries would surely give a wider picture whether the innovation processes are performed in an efficient way. The accessibility of data, for each country, used in the research not only limited the period of analysis but also determined the selection of variables. The analysis was based on the data from the mentioned databases to make it more reliable. Practical implications: The information obtained during the conducted analysis may facilitate the process of proper decision making referring to the management of innovations. The implementation of innovations guarantees not only the company development but also greater transparency in the information and knowledge flow among the workers. Originality/value: The analysis of external factors of the innovation activities is really important as the investments in innovation activities are the more and more important GDP part and the numerical taxonomy methods enable to indicate, indirectly, these countries which should be models for Poland so that it could organise and manage the innovation processes. The analysis of innovation activities makes it possible to indicate desired directions of changes in the management of Polish companies. Thus, it is a basis to take decisions in the competitive markets.

Opis:
The aim of this scientific article is to assess the importance of an integrated approach to the Polish capital market for financing the development of Polish regions after 2020. The result of the research will be creating an analytical integrated model of sequential organizational changes in the Polish capital market. At the theoretical level, an integrated capital market model will be created enabling the correlation of activities of the capital market participants and emphasizing the very essence of political risk management and allowing for determining their potential impact on financing the development of Polish regions’ investments. At the empirical level, the matrix method of decision of problems in the conditions of political risk was used, assuming the occurrence of the following events in the following system: determining the nature of risk, identifying activities, determining possible packages of actions within the framework of political decisions. The results of the research will enable identification of implementation options for actions, and will support implementation of the capital market development strategy. Practical application of research allows for adequate reaction to participants in the situation of organizational changes in the capital market and for showing the importance of financing the development of Polish regions.

Purpose: The reason for writing the paper was radical changes in the organisation of the work in laboratories after the transformation of the economic system in 1989. Since this year, a market economy in Poland has been built. The authors present key changes in laboratories after transformation of the system in Poland. The key areas of change are building relationships between a laboratory and an accreditation organisation and customer. The purpose of the paper is to present key areas of changes in the laboratory market. The research methods included an analysis of literature and the standards concerning quality management in research laboratories and accreditation of laboratories. Design/methodology/approach: The paper presents factors for building the competitive advantage of research laboratories in a market economy. The authors presents information about changes based on their experiences and observation of the laboratory market. Findings: The result of the collected information is a segmental analysis of changes in laboratories. Research limitations/implications: The implemented changes in research laboratories are a basis for further development. There are several types of laboratories which take on different forms depending on the characteristics of their testing. The work adopted the concept of describing the general conditions of the functioning of laboratories on the market without delving into the specifics of the laboratory (no division of laboratories into different types: medical, physical, measuring, industrial, etc.). The article characterises market conditions for a laboratory understood as a room with equipment in which the research is carried out by the staff – a research laboratory. Research laboratories until 1989 operated in the structures of state-owned enterprises or in the structures of large organisations (hospitals, universities, institutes). The implemented changes have created new customer-oriented laboratories. Originality/value: The information presented in the article broadens the knowledge about the transformation of laboratories in Poland.

Opis:
The competitive advantage of the passenger air transport market is a significant part of airline operations. An important element, a condition that may determine the achievement of competitive advantage, is the issue of safety, which also applies to the operation of aircraft. An example of creating an effective competitive advantage may be the operation of a new aircraft by air carriers. This article presents the process of creating a competitive advantage on the example of the Airbus A350 XWB and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft considering the safety aspect, which in the case of new means of transport in civil aviation may primarily concern the seeming childhood diseases occurring in the initial use of new aircraft. This article, in the form of comparative analysis, indicates the key features that determine the attractiveness of the new aircraft as a product on the passenger air transport market. Secondary data on the characteristics of the Airbus A350 XWB aircraft were used and compared with the data of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to illustrate the properties that may indicate the manufacturer's superiority. Furthermore, this article proposes a scheme of creating competitive advantage in passenger air transport, which can be a model for creating a competitive advantage in civil aviation. The close relationship between the economic and technological aspects in creating competitive advantage was buttressed as well. This article also analysed secondary data related to the numer of ordered and used aircraft and aviation events registered on the website: https://aviation-safety.net [8], which could have an impact on the level of safety of flight operations. Brought to the fore were situations in which the seeming childhood diseases in aircraft operated by the American manufacturer, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, such as defects in engines, power elements and risks associated with the use of composite materials, which were first used on such a large scale in the construction of wide-body aircraft.
