    The supply chain industry is a multi-party network of logistics, shipping, manufacturing and retail businesses coordinating with one another to take a product from manufacture all the way through the supply chain to the consumer or end user. Since distributed ledger technologies are generally immutable and tamper-resistant, they can help reduce the occurrence of fraud and increase transparency across every point in the supply chain. A further benefit that blockchain brings to the supply chain is increased data veracity and security. However, there are still many open questions regarding how to bridge events and assets living in the real world with blockchains. The goal of this paper, based on recently published literature, is a critical presentation of some theoretical and practical cases on the issue of how blockchain can function as a protocol that can offer a layer of interoperability across the supply chain industry.

    Purpose: In the development of ideas for Industry 4.0, information about the element production cycle has become more and more important. Knowledge of the subsequent forming processes, determination of the machine on which the process has been carried out and of the type and wear of the tool, leads to smart production management, which plays an increasingly important role in the metal forming industry. To meet the current expectations for these challenges, an advanced technology needs to be introduced for monitoring the manufacturing processes by deploying flexible solutions. This technology must include, but not be limited to, identifying and tracking the product using laser marking. Design/methodology/approach: Laser marking allows a permanent mark in the form of a barcode to be applied to the sheet metal surface. Commonly used marking methods and the condition of the sheet metal surface can affect the marking contrast. This paper presents a concept for recording individual stages of sheet metal forming and determination of the impact of the laser marking technology on the contrast of the applied barcode. To ensure accurate control of the deformation stages, the bulging process of the spherical dome has been used as an example. Findings: Analysis of the influence of laser marking method on the barcode recognition accuracy can contribute to the development of smart management of the production process according to the idea of Industry 4.0. Research limitations/implications: A large plastic deformation has been applied to the sheet metal surface and no limitation in a barcode reading process (using vision scanning technology) was indicated. Also, the geometry deformation (different angle view of the CCD camera) of the barcode image has introduced no additional problems with a barcode reading. Originality/value: The optimal parameters of a laser marking technique for barcode marking, which are critical for the material that is subjected to metal forming operations that deform it, have been studied. The results shows that traceability is an attractive solution for tracking technological data in the production chain for a single-shaped product.

    The article discusses the possibility of the application of the NFC technology as a system of selling tickets in passenger rail transport. The NFC (Near Field Communication) technology is a wireless and contactless technology of transmission of radio data over short distances (max. 5 cm). This technology is very similar to the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. It is assumed that this technology will spread rapidly and that already in 2015 around 85% of the payments in the EU will be made via mobile phones. This paper presents a research of passenger interest in this method of payment for tickets in the passenger rail transport in Slovakia. Further, an analysis of the applications of the NFC technology as a system of selling tickets in passenger rail transport, including the protection of data in mobile phones, the processes in case of losing a mobile phone and ensuring the communication between both parties was presented in the article. The last part of this analysis shows the possibility of purchasing tickets regardless of the carrier and the transport type.
    W artykule opisano możliwe zastosowania technologii NFC jako systemu sprzedaży biletów w pasażerskim transporcie kolejowym. Technologia NFC (Near Field Communication) jest bezprzewodową i bezdotykową metodą transmisji danych na krótkie odległości (max. 5 cm). Jest ona bardzo podobna do technologii RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). Zakłada się, że będzie się ona szybko rozwijała i już w 2015 roku 85% płatności dokonywanych na terenie Unii Europejskiej nastąpi za pośrednictwem telefonów mobilnych. W artykule przedstawiono badania oceniające zainteresowanie pasażerów tą metodą zakupu biletów kolejowych na Słowacji. Przedstawiono w nim także planowane zastosowania technologii NFC jako systemu sprzedaży biletów w pasażerskim transporcie kolejowym, z uwzględnieniem ochrony danych w telefonach komórkowych, czynności w przypadku utraty telefonu komórkowego i zapewnieniem komunikacji pomiędzy elementami systemu. Przeanalizowano w nim także możliwość zakupu biletów niezależnie od przewoźnika oraz rodzaju transportu.

    Nanotechnologie stanowią jeden z głównych przedmiotów analiz w ramach teorii technonauki i oceny technologii jak również w przypadku rozwoju tzw. technologii konwergentnych (nano-bio-info). Przedstawione dotychczas analizy nanotechnologii były skoncentrowane na: 1) dylematach naukowo11 teoretycznych, metodologicznych i systemowych związanych z procesem konstytuowania nanotechnologii jako nowego obszaru nauki i techniki; 2) modelach oceny ryzyka, kwestiach związanych z zasadą ostrożności oraz ocenach wizji rozwoju; 3) wymiarze etycznym nanotechnologii związanym z bezpiecznym i zrównoważonym zastosowaniem na masową skalę nano-produktów. Celem prezentowanych analiz jest syntetyzujące nakreślenie samego obszaru badań poświęconych rozwojowi technologicznemu, w szczególności nanotechnologii, w oparciu o kluczowe opracowania przedstawione w ostatniej dekadzie.
    Nanotechnologies belong to the major objectives in the theory of technoscience and technology assessment or the development of converging technologies (nano-bio-info). Hereby the presented to date analyses are focused on: 1) theoretical, methodological and systematic dilemmas with regard to the process constituting nanotechnology as a new field of science and technology; 2) models of risk assessment and issues related with the precautionary principle and visions’ assessment; 3) ethical dimension of nanotechnology concerning the safe and sustainable mass dissemination of nano-based products. The presented analyses design synthetically the research field devoted to the technological development, especially nanotechnology, basing on the key body literature elaborated in the last decade.

    The paper presents the results of an experiment devoted to studying attention distribution and switching using eye-tracking technology. The experiment was conducted in two stages. At the first stage (year 2016), 48 students majoring in air traffic control were examined. At the second stage (year 2017), 43 students studying to become civil aviation pilots were involved. Correlation analysis methods and Pearson’s chi-squared test were used.

    This paper is based on the results of an experiment aimed at studying attention distribution and switching among students using a stationary eye-tracking device. The hypothesis was that the operator’s distraction tolerance should be influence by his or her general mental strength; temperament, which is a derivative of the characteristics of the nervous system; and the level of intelligence, as a general indicato of the state of the nervous system. In addition, the paper discusses the results of psychological assessment, which are not directly related to the issue of distraction tolerance but indirectly affect it. These results are compared with characteristics that directly affect distraction tolerance.

    Artykuł przedstawia projekt metody wartościowania techniki w warunkach przyjęcia paradygmatu opartego na równowadze zachowania praw ekonomii oraz wymagań społeczeństwa i środowiska. Jest ona modyfikacją metody zespolonej oceny efektywności przedsięwzięć techniczno-organizacyjnych (opracowanej przez autora w 1989 r.), co wynika z potrzeby przyjęcia paradygmatów „nowej ekonomii”, w tym przede wszystkim aspektów zrównoważonego rozwoju. W artykule zostały przedstawione zasady wartościowania techniki, a także wymagania aplikacyjne stawiane przed metodą oceny, procedury controllingowe oraz określono uwarunkowania sposobu funkcjonowania metody oceny dla przedsięwzięć o charakterze innowacyjnym.
    The objective of the paper is to analyze the opportunity of design of technology evaluation method in conditions when a paradigm based on the balance of: economy, society, and environment is adopted. The proposed tool bases on combined method of technical-organization projects assessment (designed by the author in 1989) that was modified according to „new economics” principles, especially balance development idea. Its evaluation methodology and application requirements were described. The new controlling procedures and the conditions of the use of the evaluation method were analyzed on example of innovation projects.

    Zmiany zachodzące na rynku globalnym rodzą potrzebę jak najefe-ktywniejszego wykorzystania tej gałęzi transportu poprzez tworzenie nowoczesnych systemów transportowych, modernizację środków transportu oraz usprawnianie działania infrastruktury drogowej. Ogromną szansą utrzymania się przewoźników na rynku europejskim są nowoczesne systemy telematyczne i informatyczne. Wykorzystanie inteligentnych systemów transportowych, w każdym aspekcie niesie za sobą pozytywne skutki. Od poprawy przepustowości dróg miejskich poprzez poprawę bezpieczeństwa na drogach (np. zapobieganie kolizji) poprzez redukcję emisji dwutlenku węgla do środowiska naturalnego, aż do zwiększenia wykrywania przestępstw drogowych. Celem podjęcia tematu jest ocena i analiza systemów działających w Polsce oraz przedstawienie problemów związanych z ich wdrażaniem.
    Changes in the global market create the need for the most efficient use of this transport sector by creating modern transport systems, modernizing means of transport and improving road infrastructure. The modern telematics and IT systems are a great opportunity for carriers to survive on the European market. The use of intelligent transport systems, in every aspect entails positive effects. From improving the capacity of urban roads, by improving road safety (e.g. preventing collision traffic), by reducing carbon dioxide emissions to the environment, till on increasing the detection of road traffic offenses The aim of this topic is to assess and analyse the systems operating in Poland and to present issues related to their implementation.
