    W artykule omówiono wyniki badań dotyczące systemów pomiaru efektywności przeprowadzone w polskich małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach. Najpierw przedstawiono metodę badawczą i opis próby, a następnie scharakteryzowano wyniki badań empirycznych – wymiary systemu pomiaru efektywności.
    The paper discusses the results of research on the performance measurement systems carried out in Polish SMEs. First, the research method and research sample were described, next the results of empirical research – the dimensions of performance measurement system – were characterized.

    Specyfika funkcjonowania MŚP powoduje, że przedsiębiorstwa należące do tego sektora stają się szczególnie podatne na negatywne skutki występowania różnego rodzaju zakłóceń. Zmiany zachodzące w otoczeniach bliższym oraz dalszym wyznaczają obszar zakłóceń, na który przedsiębiorstwo jest narażone. Wewnętrzna sytuacja przedsiębiorstwa, m.in. charakter realizowanych procesów, wykorzystywanych technologii czy też zasobów również stanowią źródło potencjalnych zagrożeń. W związku z powyższym nasuwa się pytanie czy małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa stosują działania, które minimalizują skutki zakłóceń? W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w 593 przedsiębiorstwach sektora MŚP, działających na terenie województwa śląskiego. Badania dotyczyły stopnia wdrożenia zarządzania ryzykiem w tych przedsiębiorstwach.
    The specificity of small and medium enterprises means that enterprises belonging to this sector are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of the presence of various kinds of interference. Changes in the business environment closer and to further define the area of interference, for which the company is exposed. The internal situation of the company among others the nature of the processes, technologies, or resources are also a source of potential risks. Therefore, the question arises whether small and medium-sized companies use measures that minimize the effects of interference? The article presents the results of research carried out in 593 small and mediumsized manufacturing companies operating in the province of Silesia. Research related to the degree of implementation of risk management in these companies.

    Celem artykułu jest ustalenie wpływu otoczenia przedsiębiorstwa na wybrane aspekty funkcjonowania małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw (MSP). W szczególności analizowany jest wpływ zmienności popytu, zmienności otoczenia technologicznego i nasilenia konkurencji na innowacyjność, wykorzystanie technologii informacyjnych i efektywność funkcjonowania MSP. Analiza zależności między badanymi zjawiskami bazuje na danych empirycznych zebranych z 109 śląskich MSP.
    The objective of this paper is determining the effect of environment on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Particularly, the paper is focused on the effects of environmental factors (market turbulence, technological turbulence and competitive intensity) on innovativeness, information technology (IT) capability and firm performance. The research is based on data from 109 Silesian SMEs.

    Celem artykułu jest scharakteryzowanie sytuacji MSP (małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw) w okresie spowolnienia gospodarczego, w kontekście możliwości ich rozwoju. Przedsiębiorstwa MSP odgrywają dziś istotną rolę w kształtowaniu gospodarki narodowej. Ich rozwój jest determinowany przez liczne czynniki zarówno wewnętrzne, jak i zewnętrzne. Spowolnienie gospodarcze, jako czynnik ograniczający rozwój przedsiębiorstw, znacznie wpływa na zmianę warunków, w których funkcjonują.
    The purpose of this paper is to characterize the conditions for the growth of SMEs (small and medium enterprises) during economic slowdown. Nowadays SME enterprises play a significant role in the national economy. Their growth is determined by many internal and external factors. The economic slowdown, as a factor limiting growth of enterprises, significantly affect the change of conditions in which they operate.

    Purpose: The objective of the paper is to study the impact of the global coronavirus pandemic on the standing of micro-enterprises in the Silesian Voivodeship. Design/methodology/approach: A study sample of 120 micro-enterprises from the Silesian Voivodeship has been selected. The study methods such as an interview and a survey have been used. A questionnaire has been used as a tool. The properly completed surveys have been obtained from 43 enterprises. Findings: It has been established that depending on the specific nature of a given enterprise and the area in which it operates, enterprises are, to varying degrees, susceptible to the impact of adverse factors related to the emergence of the global coronavirus pandemic, which, in turn, results in the differences in the standing of these enterprises. Research limitations/implications: In view of the small study sample, the studies carried out do not create a complete picture of the impact of the pandemic on micro-enterprises in the Silesian Voivodeship. They are rather a contribution to further studies. These should be conducted on the basis of a larger study sample. Originality/value: The global coronavirus pandemic which affected the world in the years 2019-2022 has left a strong mark on many aspects of human functioning, including pursuing business activity. It is important to gain knowledge on the impact of pandemic-related restrictions on the functioning of micro-enterprises in order to develop mechanisms to mitigate the adverse effects on entrepreneurship based on micro-enterprises.

Głównym celem artykułu jest przedstawienie 4 kluczowych warunków dla zbudowania organizacji inteligentnej w wybranym do analizy przedsiębiorstwie. Ponadto zaprezentowano (na przykładzie wybranego przedsiębiorstwa sektora MŚP) wdrożenie zintegrowanego systemu informatycznego klasy B2B.
    The article presents the issues concerning the analysis of building an intelligent organisation, especially taking into account the role of information systems as sources of innovation in functioning of a chosen firm in small and medium enterprises sector. On the base of literature study the author discussed an intelligent organisation in the context of information systems development. The main aim of the article was to present four key conditions for building an intelligent organization in a selected, for the analysis, enterprise. Additionally, the author presented the 438 B. Sorychta-Wojsczyk implementation of an integrated B2B information system in a chosen firm of small and medium enterprises sector.

    Opis:
    Purpose: The study explores how the disruption caused by Covid-19 has influenced the innovativeness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Poland. It aims to show the examples of innovative ideas introduced by SMEs in times of pandemic to overcome the obstacles that appeared due to fluctuations in the demand and supply because of Covid-19. Design/methodology/approach: The study draws on a qualitative research design and uses case studies. We chose three small and two medium-sized Polish firms specializing in different business areas for analysis. Findings: The analysed organizations due to Covid-19 introduced innovations mainly focused on IT solutions. All of the firms have begun to offer remote work. Moreover, they implemented a new work organization system and a new customer service system. In all cases, the new solutions will be maintained and developed after the end of the pandemic. Research limitations/implications: The study uses five case studies. Practical implications: The outcomes of the study can motivate entrepreneurs to implement innovations as the case studies may inspire them. Moreover, the successes of presented SMEs may convince entrepreneurs that introducing innovations is not difficult and that the effects of innovative changes are measurable and visible in a short time. Thus, they may be encouraged to take action to overcome obstacles in their surroundings. Originality/value: The study develops the knowledge concerning the innovation process in companies in an uncertain, unstable and unpredictable environment.
