    From the very beginning of the Church’s history the catechumenal pedagogy played a crucial role. Its aim is to foster the development of mature Christians able to show concrete signs of conversion, i.e. trust in God and love of ene mies. There were times when catechumenate was abandoned but in the most important periods of Church’s history it was fully bloomed. The pedagogy of catechumenate is based on quite simple principles: the Word of God, liturgy, and community. This pedagogy leads a candidate for baptism or an already baptized person to be able to fully receive the grace of it, which is the surrender to God’s love and forward it into the world where he or she lives. The pedagogy of catechumenate seems to be universal and applicable for many purposes: for religious education and formation, for reviving faith, for new evangelization and for reinforcing a believer on different stages of human development over time.

    Opis:
    Theosis (deificatio) was one of the major theological topics early in both, Eastern and Western Churches. The concept of theosis wouldn’t be a favorite tool for contemporary theologians to express the basic call of the human being to become like God (moral perfection). The human being was created as an image of God and through the grace is to become His resemblance (similitude). The process of deification is a way of transforming the human being with the power of God’s grace operating in the sacraments of the Church, in God’s similitude - as far as it is possible in this life. It doesn’t mean that the human being would become literary God but rather that he or she would become fully human. This article is an attempt at illustrating this process based on the teaching of the Fathers of the Church and their contemporary commentators.

    In today’s world, the concept of spirituality – which is more and more complex – has attracted a great deal of interest. As first named and developed in the Roman Catholic context, it now has become universal and nearly all-embracing. Today, not all current conceptions of spirituality are grounded in, or linked to religion. The Western thought has been dealing with it for some time now and the Polish academic milieu is likely to follow suit. Thus helping people mature in their spirituality has become far more demanding than it used to be in the past when one could refer to a set of guidelines, prescriptions or commandments developed within traditional religions. In this paper, we try to describe various concepts of spirituality and analyze some universal theoretical and empirically-based proposals of assessing when someone’s spiritual growth is healthy and when it is not.
    W dzisiejszym świecie pojęcie duchowości budzi ożywione zainteresowanie, a jednocześnie stało się bardzo niejasne. Początkowo rozwinięte w kontekście rzymskokatolickim, obecnie stało się bardziej uniwersalne oraz inkluzywne. Nie wszystkie obecne koncepcje duchowości są powiązane z religią. Tendencja ta jest wyraźnie widoczna w świecie zachodnim, jednak najprawdopodobniej utoruje sobie również drogę do polskiego środowiska. Ta sytuacja sprawia, że pomaganie ludziom w dojrzewaniu duchowym jest o wiele bardziej wymagające niż w przeszłości, kiedy można było odwoływać się do zestawu wytycznych, przykazań lub zaleceń pochodzących z religii. W tym artykule staramy się opisać różne koncepcje duchowości, a także przeanalizować niektóre uniwersalne teoretyczne i empiryczne propozycje oceny tego, kiedy wzrost duchowy jest zdrowy, a kiedy duchowość nie prowadzi ku dojrzałości w człowieczeństwie.

    Conversion has been of major interest to psychology and sociology. In contemporary psychology of religion and spirituality, it is viewed as a particular case of spiritual transformation. Down through the centuries, theology has seen conversion as the fruit of collaboration between human endeavor and God’s grace. This dimension of conversion has not been the subject of psychological research. Nonetheless, the scientific findings regarding conversion may help us better understand human nature’s interaction with Divine grace. This paper will present the history of conversion and selected theories and conceptualizations of conversion originating in human sciences which can be helpful in understanding human experiences around religious conversion.
    Nawrócenie stało się przedmiotem dużego zainteresowania psychologii i socjologii. We współczesnej psychologii religii i duchowości uważa się je za szczególny przypadek duchowych transformacji. Z teologicznego punktu widzenia nawrócenie jest owocem współpracy między ludzkim wysiłkiem a łaską Bożą. Ten wymiar nawrócenia nie jest przedmiotem badań psychologicznych. Niemniej odkrycia naukowe dotyczące nawrócenia mogą pomóc w lepszym zrozumieniu interakcji natury ludzkiej z łaską Bożą. W artykule zaprezentowana zostanie historia badań nawrócenia w kontekście nauk społecznych, jak również wybrane teorie oraz konceptualizacje nawrócenia, które mogą być pomocne w lepszym zrozumieniu doświadczeń duchowych w życiu współczesnych ludzi.
