Opis:
A high-resolution correlation of ten upper Givetian-Frasnian sections spread over the differ ent facies environments of the Eastern Anti-Atlas (Morocco) is established using graphic correlation. The mea sured strati graphic ranges of eighty-five cono dont taxa have been as sem bled into a chronostratigraphic framework. The developed regional composite subdivides the Frasnian into 501 composite standard units (CSU) based on the original thickness of the reference section (Bou Tchrafine). This is a higher resolution than obtained by the classic biozone correlation. Based on the conodont data available for this correlation project, the jamieae and Lower rhenana zones could not be recognised in the sections.

Opis:
Conodont faunas are generally sparse in Pridolito middle Givetian deposits from the Rabat-Tiflet area in the north western Moroccan Meseta. The Pridoli and Lochkovian rocks consist of dark platy limestones alternating with dark shales containing graptolites in some levels. In the over lying part of the succession carbonate rocks predominate with the development of reefoid limestones in the lower Givetian. The eosteinhornensis, sulcatus, dehiscens vel kitabicus, laticostatus/inversus, partitus, ensensis, hemiansatus, timorensis and rhenanus/varcus zones have been recognized by occurrence of the conodont in dexspecies. The first appearance of Belodella devonica, occurring together with the graptolite Monograptus uniformis is used as a regional index species for the base of the Devonian. The age of some levels in the succession were previously dated by graptolites, dacryoconarids and rare goniatites.

Opis:
Manus-only and manus-dominated trackways of sauropods previously reported from the Iouaridene Basin of Morocco are relocated and re-examined. One trackway, interpreted as a manus-only trackway, was a misinterpretation of a poorly preserved trackway of a large theropod that walked in the opposite direction to that previously inferred. Two previously described manus-dominated trackways could be underprints. One previously described manus-only trackway and a newly discovered manus-only trackway could also be underprints. However, if the true im printing surface is not identified, an "underprint origin" cannot be accepted as firm evidence that the were imprinted on land, and a swimming or submerged sauropod might have left similar underprints under the contact layer. Kinematic investigations might help to reconstruct the origin of the trackway. The two manus-only trackways from the Iouaridene tracksite apparently show alternating pace lengths which suggests semi-galloping to galloping gait patterns by the trackmakers. Such a galloping gait pattern has never been reported from regular sauropod trackways, and it is unclear as to whether such a trackway pattern repre sents rapid locomotion. A partly submerged sauropod could perhaps register such galloping gait manus-only trackway patterns as a result of swimming behavior.

Opis:
Storm beds interbedded with marls, claystones and beds of nodular to undulose bioclastic limestones have been recognized in the Central High Atlas of Morocco. These provide the first evidence of event sedimentation in the Bajocian of the area. The outcrops studied are included in the Agoudim and Tazigzaout formations in the center of the basin, and are parts of the Bin El Ouidane Group at the margins of the basin. The storm deposits comprise calcarenites and bioclastic packstones-grainstones. These beds have symmetrical wave-ripples at their tops and an internal structure of hummocky cross-stratification. They are considered to have been formed by tropical storms and hurricanes. Multiple reworking and winnowing of siliciclastic or bioclastic material by oscillatory currents related to storm and to currents resulting from storm/tide interactions is inferred. Bed features are the most important evidence in favour of a palaeobathymetric interpretation of related pelagic sediments, with calcareous tempestites representing episodic resedimentation, mainly coincident with relative sea-level falls during which major storm waves affected the sea bottom. This interpretation is in agreement with the regional palaeogeography and is further supported by evidence of Jurassic storm-controlled sedimentation in adjacent Mediterranean basins.

Opis:
Conodont faunas, mostly from previously unsampled sections of the Tafilalt (eastern Anti-Atlas, Morocco) and spanning the upper Givetian to basal Frasnian, include first records of species for the region and NW Gondwana as well as new taxa: "Ozarkodina" maroccanica n. sp., Polygnathus aequidivisus n. sp., Po. dengleri sagitta n. ssp., Po. jorfensis n. sp., Po. saevus n. sp., Po. tafilensis n. sp., and Schmidtognathus longicavus n. sp. The morphology of Tortodus subsymmetricus n. sp. suggests relation ships of Tortodus with Frasnian ancyrognathids. Other taxa are described in open nomenclature: Po. cristatus n. ssp., Icriodus aff. I. symmetricus, Skeletognathus aff. Sk. norrisi, and enigmatic supposed Pb elements (Gen. et sp. indet.). Ctenopolygnathus lanei Kuzmin (1995) is emended and distinctive morphotypes are recognized in Ct. angustidiscus and Po. collieri. Mesotaxis falsiovalis Sandberg et al. (1989) is a subjective junior synonym of the widely over looked M. guanwushanensis (Tian, 1988). There vised regional lithostratigraphy and conodont sequences allow to refine the upper Givetian zonation. The former Upper disparilis Zone is subdivided into succes sive Po. dengleri sagitta and Po. dengleri dengleri subzones. The basalmost Frasnian Ancyrodella rotundiloba pristina Zone (= MN 1 Zone) is preserved as a thin, condensed lime stone just at one locality (Bine Jebilet). The over lying Frasnes Event Beds (Lower Styliolinites) seem to fall in the subsequent Ad. rotundiloba soluta Zone (MN 2 Zone). Records of rare taxa, such as Po. paradecorosus, Po. Pollocki Morphotype 1, old est Po. webbi, Ct. angustidiscus, and Ct. lanei may be help ful for correlation into distant areas or shallower facies.

Opis:
The Late Jurassic Iouaride`ne tracksite has been studied for decades and is well-known for the reference trackway of Breviparopus taghbaloutensis. These siliciclastic flood-plain deposits bear probably more than 1500 tracks, and at least 21 trampled levels: they yield tracks of medium to very large sauropods, possible stegosaurs and theropods. The first accurate description of the footprint association made by biped trackmakers is proposed herein. More than six hundred footprints and more than a hundred trackways has been mapped and analysed; this led to the definition of four tridactyl and two tetradactyl morphotypes, mainly produced by small to very large theropods, while probable small ornithopod tracks are also present. The bipedal footprint association is dominated by medium-large theropods, which are also the most abundant type. The taxonomical attribution of the morphotypes is made difficult by the poor preservation of many specimens. Furthermore, for the most abundant theropod tracks, those with "megalosaurian" affinity, there is also a complex ichnotaxonomical situation, that makes the attributions yet more challenging; however, it was possible to recognize the great affinity of the tridactyl specimens with the Megalosauripus tracks from the Iberian Peninsula and North America. Three-dimensional models were generated from the moulds of the best-preserved specimens to render a more detailed description and for easier access to the specimens.

This work presents an integrated biostratigraphic study across the Aalenian/Bajocian boundary of the Central High Atlas of Morocco. The data that are the basis for this study were obtained from the region of Rich that is located in the center of the basin of the Moroccan High Atlas. This region presents a thick Aalenian–Bajocian succession with continuous marine sedimentation, which offers a rich and varied fauna whose analysis enables the compilation of an integrated biostratigraphy based on the different paleontological groups: ammonites, belemnites, brachiopods, bivalves, gastropods, calcareous nannofossils, foraminifera and ostracods.
