Opis:
The paper focuses on a large relict landslide complex in the northeastern part of the Kamienne Mts. (Sudetes, SW Poland) developed on Carboniferous and Permian volcanic and clastic sedimentary rocks. Whilst the presence of mass movements around Mt. Rogowiec has long been known, no attempts have yet been made to offer a comprehensive analysis. This study is based on recognition of geomorphic features from LiDAR-derived DTM, geomorphometric analysis, field geomorphological mapping, joint measurements at representative exposures, and electrical resistivity tomography. The total area affected by gravitational slope deformation exceeds 40 ha and consists of a few smaller units that show distinctive patterns of displacement. The eastern slopes of the Mt. Rogowiec ridge have been reshaped by large slides involving rigid blocks of trachyandesite in the upper part and deformed sedimentary successions in the middle and lower part. The central part of the area has experienced lateral spreading which resulted in complete disintegration of the volcanic cap. Fresh-looking ridge-top trenches indicate that this process is ongoing. Subsequent movements included flows into pre-existing valleys and rock wall collapses to produce spectacular block streams. The scale and variety of deformation structures at Mt. Rogowiec make this locality unique in the Sudetes.

Opis:
Geological sciences have recently utilized a wide range of numerical methods to collect, analyze, visualize and interpret geospatial datasets both at industrial and academic level. Investigation of various elements of surface and subsurface structures using DEM (Digital Elevation Model), DTM (Digital Terrain Model) and SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) data provides unique opportunities for depiction of geology and geomorphology in a form of three-dimensional maps. These digital maps should potentially replace traditional topographic maps in the nearest future. New numerical systems have enhanced significantly time efficiency of producing maps and related databases. Advance in detailed work on the high resolution maps and digital elevation computer-supported models is essential for precise and objective interpretation of large datasets. Available visualization systems produce sets of images and animations showing geospatial structures, processes and their relations in a multi-dimensional form commonly presented as stereo-pairs for presentation in an immersive environment or as anaglyphs. Utilization of web-accessible datasets of DTED level 0 and 1 and LandSat images is a new advantage in small and regional scale mapping.

Opis:
Various structural observations were collected in southwestern Podhale Trough during investigations for Detailed map of Tatra Mts., scale 1 : 10 000. Fault surfaces, strikes and dips of beds and fold axes were measured in the field. Statistical analysis of results allow to recognize 5 groups of dislocations with variable types of movement, directions and age: 1) slickensides onW-E striking, almost horizontal bedding surfaces show reverse motion towards S, 2) steeply-dipping (80–90(centigrade)) faults, striking parallel to bedding and also showing reverse motion towards S, 3) vertical transcurrent faults associated with main tectonic zones, striking almost N-S, 4) normal faults striking ca 38(centigrade) (NE-SW) and 135(centigrade) (NW-SE). Attitudes of beds different from regional trend were separated. Deviations are caused by flexural bending along tectonic zones. Anomalous attitudes of beds coincide with directions of dislocations recognized in the field. A map of lineaments in the study area is also presented. Analysis of landforms on Digital Terrain Model (DTM) led to recognition of series of lineaments related to either tectonic structures or lithology. Main transverse tectonic zones were identified on the map of lineaments: Chochołowski Potok-Czarny Dunajec, Kooecieliski Potok, Mała Łąka; as well as some minor faults and zones where particular directions of faults predominate. Statistic analysis of directions of tectolineaments allows to recognize 4 main directions: 1) about 90°, associated to thrusts and folds (parallel to strikes of beds), 2) N-S and slightly oblique directions associated to transcurrent zones, 3) approximately 40(centigrade) and 4) 140(centigrade) directions associated to normal faults. Results obtained using these 3 methods (analysis of field data, analysis of DTM, analysis of attitudes of beds different from regional trend) are consistent with each other.

Opis:
The aim of the study is to present the occurrence of landslides on the submarine slope of a sandy barrier. The scale and significance of this phenomenon is discussed. The study area is the Hel Peninsula. It is a 35 km long young sandy spit. The landform is prograding into the deep part of Gdańsk Bay, and the underwater extension of its tip is a steep sandy slope. The tip is still poorly investigated, as it was a military area closed to researchers until 2003. The first detailed survey of the tip on the seabed was conducted aboard the research vessel “IMOR”. A multibeam echosounder, a sub-bottom profiler and a side-scan sonar were used, while grab and core samples of sediment were obtained. Many forms, commonly created as the result of underwater mass movement, were recognized and determined (main scarps, main bodies, landslide steps, landslide foots, series of small slides, “sheet” slides and structural slides). On the one hand, the landslide processes that occur in the tip of the Hel Peninsula are related to the natural development of sandy spits. On the other hand, they threaten the shore’s stability. The genesis of the landslides is still not known.

This article presents the results of digital terrain model analysis and field observations related to occurrence of characteristic forms in landslide surface that may indicate the geological setting. Based on these observations, three characteristic structures were selected occurring on many landslides in the Carpathian Mountains and the Carpathian Foredeep. The former are the wrinkle structures visible on the digital terrain model associated with movement along the bedded surface. The other are the streak structures linked to the occurrence of gravels and sands on the clays. The third mogul type structures are related to cylindrical sliding surfaces formed in clay.

W artykule omówiono procedurę konwersji warstw informacyjnych mapy wektorowej poziomu drugiego VMAPL2 do bazy danych programu Surfer. Pokazany został także wpływ kroku siatki dyskretyzacyjnej na dokładność odwzorowania ukształtowania powierzchni terenu.
During the development of numerical groundwater flow models the accurate surface terrain reproduction is one of the most important tasks. No large-scale digital terrain models (DTM) of Poland have been developed yet. The numerical groundwater flow models were hitherto based on a digital terrain model schematically transformed from topographic maps. The other way to obtain DTM was digitizing topographic maps. This paper shows the procedure of thematic layer conversion from a vector map (VMAPL2) to a database of Surfer software. Moreover, the influence of different discretization network steps on the accuracy of the surface terrain reproduction is presented.

The study is focused on an active landslide located on the right bank of the Dunajec Valley in Zbyszyce. The potentials of application of the data derived from airborne laser scanning (ALS) in the context of an inventory of landslides has been presented. The ALS data used in this study covers the area of 40 km2 on the eastern side of Lake Roznowskie in the Carpathians. Scanning data were acquired on April 1, 2010, and the resulting cloud of points was used as the basis to generate the DTM with a resolution of 0,5 m. Geological interpretation of the data was conducted on the example of the largest and complex landslides in the study area located in the village Zbyszyce. Using different visualization techniques were able to determine extent of landslides and its internal morphological elements. Attempts to determine the degree of activity in different zones of the landslide have been also undertaken. Very good results were obtained in wooded areas, complementing the state of knowledge about this landslide.

Opis:
The use of multi-temporal LIDAR data in the study of landslides gives many possibilities. The increasing-over-time availability of ALS data encouraged research on development of landslides using Differential Digital Terrain Models. An important passive factor that determines the development of landslides (especially in the Carpathians) is lithology. The author propose a new lithological displacement index, that dscribes the volume of displaced ground (m3 ) per area of 1 m2 of a given lithological unit. The example of the test area of Rożnowskie Lake has shown that lithological displacement index can assess the landslide susceptibility, which is variable and depends on the amount of rainfall. During periods of heavy rainfall, large volumes of displaced rock masses were recorded in the thick-bedded formations. In dry periods, the trend is reversed.

In 1895, a 7 kilometres canal was dug into which the waters of the Vistula were let in. Since 1895, most of the water discharge and all sediment transport reach the Gulf through artificial channel c. 20 km east of Gdańsk. During the last 100 years, the shoreline has been shifted seaward c. 1.5 km on the eastern side, to c 2.5 km on the western side of the Vistula mouth. Isobath of 5 m moved seaward c. 3 km and isobaths of 10 and 15 m shifted 2.5 km. During the years 1895-1997, land area accreted to 3,019,000 m2. The volume of the river-outlet cone in the year 2000 was 133.39 mln m3 and the average rate of sediment growth over the 105 years was c. 1.27 mln m3 per year.

The article compares results of field assessment of activity of selected landslides in the Rożnowskie Lake region, obtained in 2010-2014 with a differential digital models (DDM) from airborne laser scanning data of 2010, 2013 and 2018. Results of DDM analyses were similar to those from field studies. The most difficult task in the field research was to distinguish between active landslides, where the last movements took place over three years after the date of landslide registration, and periodically active landslides, the last visible movements that took place five years ago. The article underlines that not all displacements within the landslides, visible on differential terrain models, are the result of colluvium landslide movement. Sometimes they are due to anthropogenic activities. Differential digital model in the Znamirowice landslide presents terrain changes that have resulted from intensive agricultural land use.

Opis:
In the northern part of the Great Mazurian Lakes there is a post-lacustrine plain extending over 90 km 2 . This depression, called Skaliska Basin (Kondracki, 1998), is situated NE of Węgorzewo, overlapping the state boundary between Poland and Russian Kaliningrd Region (thus the northernmost part of the structure was not accessible for study). A glaciolacustrine lake existed there during Late Pleistocene (Pochocka-Szwarc & Lisicki 2001a, 2003). Defining the exact extent and direction of outflow from the Skaliska Lake are most important aims for palaeogeographic investigation of the area. For paleogeomorphological analyses of the Skaliska Basin, the following methods were used: Digital Terrain Model (1 : 200,000 scale), Landsat TM satellite images, archival cartographic materials, and results of geological investigations accompanying compilation of sheets Budry (Pochocka-Szwarc, Lisicki 2001a) and Banie Mazurskie (Pochocka-Szwarc 2003) of the Detailed Geological Map of Poland (1 : 50,000). The study allowed to recognize the lateral extension of the paleolake, and reconstruct the sequence of events that led to catastrophic out flow towards the NW.

The paper presents the geological interpretation of Airborne Laser Scanning data of Kasprowy Wierch Mt. area. The analyzed points cloud data represent the ground surface after removal of the land cover (primarily vegetation) objects. The ALS data were characterized by very high density, presenting even minor terrain forms, very difficult to identify in forested and mountain dwarfpine areas as well. The resulting image of detailed geomorphology of the study area was compared with existing maps at scale of 1 : 10 000 and literature data. This allowed verifying the extent of geological units of basement rocks and shed new light on existing opinions on the genesis of glacial sediments. An extensive landslide has been identified on the eastern slopes of Sucha Czuba Mt. The landslide has not been reported in the literature so far. Application of laser scanning data was extremely useful and allowed making new observations that enrich the existing knowledge about the geology of this part of the Tatra Mts.

Opis:
Landslides are very common features in the Polish Outer Carpathians. In the classical cartography, landslides are recognized based on characteristic land relief: main and side scarps, toe, minor scarps, transverse ridges, recesses and cracks. Formerly, landslide mapping was carried out in the field, preceded by interpretation of topographic maps and aerial photographs. Nowadays, we use spatial data from airborne laser scanning (ALS). Spatial data reprocessing permits to achieve a high-resolution (pixel 1*1 m or more precise) digital terrain model (DTM). Exploration of land relief in search for landslides has become simpler and more accurate. DTM interpretation allows delimiting the boundaries of landslides and elements of their relief. By analysing groups oflandforms it is possible to determine the type of colluvium movement. In the eastern part of the Low Beskid Mts., four types of landslides predominate: rotational slides, translational slides, flows, and complex movements. Types of landslides are usually very well visible on the DTM. Information about types of mass movements can be useful during modelling further landslide activity and designing instrumental identification works and possibility ofstabilization.

Then, examples of using the products made from photos obtained from UA V raids (digital surface model - DSM, digital terrain model - DTM and orthophotomosaic) were introduced. The examples are assigned to the individual phases of engineering geology documentation (collecting available information about the site, designing research, performing research and presenting research results). The last part presents an analysis of the accuracy ofan exemplary model created from a UAV raid based on control points measured using the GNSS-RTN method. The result of the analysis was the confirmation ofthe possibility of obtaining information about the area from the DSM, DTM and orthophotomosaic with high accuracy comparable to classic land surveying methods.

Opis:
For about 600 years Middle Jurassic iron ores had been mined in the Częstochowa region. This process created many forms, among which mining and processing waste dumps are the best visible in this area. After the mining process had stopped, mass movements occured in the surface of the dumps. The paper presents specificity of landslides developed in dumps in the Częstochowa region, intensity of this phenomenon and landslides activity. Mass movements are present in each dump higher than 40m and broader than 300 m. The large stand highest dump slopes are all covered by a vast landslide zones, where rotational slides and complex slides dominates. Despite the fact that exploration of iron ores had ended about 40 years ago, a large number of dump landslides are still active or periodically active. Some of these signs of activity can be seen on Differential Digital Model (DDM).
