Opis:: Migration has been a topical phenomenon for centuries, which explains why the discourse on migration has been analysed under various perspectives, including linguistic ones. The present paper intends to settle in this field, conducting an interlinguistic discourse analysis which takes into consideration the Italian, German and Danish online language. We asked ourselves what the most used terms to name people involved in migration were, how they were translated in the most important dictionaries of the considered languages, and whether we presuppose or assume the same, while using these terms in the different languages. To answer these questions, the TenTen-Family corpora available on Sketch Engine were used. After looking at the most important German words to name people who set off to move in another country and their Italian and Danish equivalents proposed by dictionaries, we decided to focus on “Einwanderer”, “Flüchtling” and “Migrant”: after a first quantitative comparison between the German, Italian and Danish equivalents based on their relative frequency, a qualitative interlinguistic analysis of their collocations and metaphors was carried out using a number of tools available on Sketch Engine, with the aim of highlighting general tendencies. The results proved that the equivalents provided by dictionaries show in fact a high degree of complexity in their use in the online discourse: not only do they not always appear in the same contexts (see collocations), but they often do not share the same metaphors. This paper paths the way for further linguistic studies in this field, but it could also prove useful for translators dealing with online language in German, Italian and Danish.

Opis:: Vor zwei Jahren repräsentierte ich die Universität Szczecin an Bord des Segelschiffs „STS Fryderyk Chopin“, nachdem ich erfolgreich den Bewerbungsprozess durchlaufen hatte und mich dem dortigen Lehrerteam anschloss. Die Reise habe ich am 1. Februar 2022 in Martinique begonnen und nach fast zwei Monaten des Segelns durch die Inseln Mittelamerikas Jamaika erreicht. Es war ein sehr anspruchsvolles Unterfangen. An Bord des Segelschiffs habe ich Unterrichtstätigkeit (Unterricht geben, Noten vergeben, Klassenarbeiten korrigieren) mit Forschungsarbeit verbunden, und das alles unter völlig neuen, oft schwierigen Bedingungen. Ich habe mich mit den Sprachgewohnheiten der Schiffsbesatzung vertraut gemachtund mit den Schüler(inne)n der „Blauen Schule“ (poln. „Niebieska Szkoła“) das Forschungsmaterial erhoben und bearbeitet. Der vorliegende Beitrag präsentiert die Ergebnisse der Sprichwörtererforschungen, die auf dem Segelschiff „STS Fryderyk Chopin“ initiiert wurden. Im Deutschunterricht an Bord der Brigg habe ich zusammen mit der Gruppe polnischer Schüler(inne)n im Alter von 15 bis 19 Jahren deutsche und polnische Sprichwörter mit den maritimen Komponenten gesammelt und diese ihren polnischen bzw. deutschen Entsprechungen gegenübergestellt. Auf der Basis des Vergleichs phraseologischer Einheiten in zwei Sprachen wurden die Äquivalenzbeziehungen festgestellt. Es wurde auf die Anzahl der Äquivalente, die lexikalischen und/oder syntaktisch-strukturellen Nichtübereinstimmungen der Sprichwörter und ihrer Entsprechungen in den Zielsprachen hingewiesen.
Two years ago, I represented the University of Szczecin on board the sailing ship “STS Fryderyk Chopin”joining the ranks of the teachers there after a successful recruitment process. I started my journey on February 1, 2022 from Martinique and after almost two months of sailing around the islands of Central America I arrived in Jamaica. It was a very demanding venture. On board of sailing ship, I combined teaching work (giving lessons, grading, checking tests) with research work, all under completely new and often difficult conditions. I became acquainted with the language used by the ship‘s crew, and together with the students of the “Blue School” (Pol. “Niebieska Szkoła”) I collected and compiled research material. The paper presents the results of linguistic proverbs research initiated on the tall ship “STS Fryderyk Chopin”. In the course of German language classes on the board the brig I collected, together with a group of Polish students, aged 15 to 19, German and Polish proverbs with elements of maritime language and compared them with their Polish or German counterparts, respectively. On the basis of the comparison of phraseological units in the two languages, equivalence relations were established. The numbers of equivalents was analyzed, as well as lexical and/or structural differences between the proverbs and their counterparts in the target languages.
