- The safety of mountain tourism and recreation have been assessed as positive, and mountain rescue services, which make a very important element of the system, operate in an effective manner. There are some objections, however, with regard to the way it is financed by the Minister of the Interior. The functioning of the system is hampered due to the lack of regulations that would allow for the execution of the requirement to provide safety conditions in organised ski areas. The condition of mountain trails is also of high importance, whose legal status and maintenance standards have not been regulated so far. The most important role is however played by tourists’ knowledge on how properly plan mountain trips and on how behave during such trips. Tourists must be aware of dangers that result from their activities and of potential consequences of their decisions.
