- This paper focuses on the relationship between woman and man in the writing of Stanisław Przybyszewski. It discovers the link between love and death that is characteristic of this playwright. Przybyszewski's dramas are analysed here under the angle of the motive of betrayal present in this writing, the motive that leads from unfaithfulness and harm of another person to his death. This paper indicates an indispensable necessity to bear punishment for trespasses against morality. It touches the causes for which the heroes decide to break the vow given to God at the altar, and its consequences. It shows Przybyszewski's anthropology that entangles man in the system of dependencies on the power of his own nature, the sexual urge determining human life. The manifestations of the Christian vision of the world are lacking, a fact that makes the heroes' repentance impossible.
