    The Christian religion puts an emphasis on formation of pro-social attitudes. This is connected with the commandment about the love of the neighbor. Despite various difficulties Christian social pedagogy is developed. Work that is socially inspired by Christianity is permanently done. Christian social education is education aiming at forming a mature realization of the principle of love of the neighbor that is expressed in the ability to enter interpersonal relations and in the participation in a variety of communities, as well as in creating common good. It may be said that Christian education contributes to the development of particular individuals, of families, and of the whole human community, and it tends towards ensuring the educated young people supreme good, and the human community prosperity and peace.
    Religia chrześcijańska bardzo mocno akcentuje kształtowanie postaw prospołecznych. Związane jest to z przykazaniem miłości bliźniego. Pomimo różnych trudności chrześcijańska pedagogia społeczna rozwija się. Działania społecznie inspirowane chrześcijaństwem są permanentnie podejmowane. Chrześcijańskie wychowanie społeczne jest to edukacja zmierzająca do kształtowania dojrzałej realizacji zasady miłości bliźniego, wyrażającej się w umiejętności wchodzenia w relacje międzyosobowe oraz uczestniczenia w różnorodnych wspólnotach, a także tworzenia wspólnego dobra. Można stwierdzić, że chrześcijańskie wychowanie przyczynia się do rozwoju poszczególnych jednostek, rodzin i całej ludzkiej wspólnoty oraz zmierza do zapewnienia wychowankom najwyższego dobra, a ludzkiej społeczności dobrobytu i pokoju.

    Pojęcie „wychowanie chrześcijańskie” jest wieloznaczne i różnie interpretowane. Utożsamia się go z katechezą lub z wychowaniem do wiary. Jest ono „pomocą udzielaną człowiekowi w realizacji jego człowieczeństwa, w nadaniu życiu człowieka ostatecznego sensu rozumianego na ogół jako zjednoczenie człowieka z Bogiem poprzez praktykowanie miłości bliźniego” (DWCH 2). Wychowanie chrześcijańskie w katechezie szkolnej oznacza, że rodzice, nauczyciele i wychowawcy oraz katecheci uwzględniają podstawowe sfery oddziaływań, a zatem sferę fizyczną, emocjonalną, intelektualną, moralną, duchową, religijną, społeczną, a także sferę wartości i wolności. Rozumienie człowieka jako osoby leży u podstaw koncepcji wychowania. Wychowanie podczas szkolnej katechezy zakłada rozwijanie umiejętności, sprawności, zainteresowań oraz posługiwanie się zdobytymi wiadomościami. W związku z tym katecheza powinna obejmować wychowanie biblijne, liturgiczne, moralne i wspólnotowo-misyjne. Wychowanie w katechezie szkolnej ma ukazywać ucznia w perspektywie chrześcijańskiej. Rodzice, a następnie katecheci oraz duszpasterze powinni rozwijać sprawności duchowe i budzić radość z chrześcijańskiego życia.
    The term “Christian education” is ambiguous and open to interpretation. It is identified with catechesis and education in faith. The Christian education is a “help given to man in the formation of manhood in the pursuit of his ultimate end, which is generally understood as the union of man with God through the practice of charity” (Gravissimum Educationis, No. 2). The Christian education in school catechesis means that parents, teachers, educators and religion teachers take into account the basic spheres of educational influence in their actions, i.e. the physical, emotional, intellectual, moral, spiritual, religious, and social sphere, as well as the sphere of values and freedom. The understanding of man as a human person underlies the concept of education. Education in school catechesis involves developing the student’s abilities, skills and interests, and providing the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired during classes. Therefore, catechesis should include biblical, liturgical, moral as well as communal and missionary education. Education in school catechesis is to show the student in the Christian perspective. Parents, religion teachers and priests should develop the student’s spiritual skills and awake the joy of the Christian life among them.

    Dziecko, które pojawia się w życiu rodziców i wychowawców, jest wielkim darem. Należy ciągle objawiać wartość tego cennego daru, który jest zarazem wielką tajemnicą. Dziecko, aby mogło należycie się rozwijać, potrzebuje przede wszystkim akceptacji i miłości. Obecnie często wypacza się rolę małżeństwa i rodziny, a także − nawet wśród wierzących chrześcijan − niszczy się ich pierwotne znaczenie. Pragnienie Boga jest wpisane do serca człowieka, ponieważ człowiek jest stworzony przez Boga i dla Boga. Bóg nie przestaje człowieka przyciągać do siebie i jedynie w Bogu człowiek znajdzie prawdę i szczęście, których ciągle poszukuje. Największym przejawem ludzkiej godności jest powołanie człowieka do wspólnoty życia z Bogiem. Dziecko już od swego narodzenia musi być wszechstronnie formowane, aby wyrosło na silnego moralnie i wartościowego człowiek.
    A child who enters life as parents and educators is a great gift. It is necessary to constantly discover the value of this precious gift that is also a great mystery. Baby for its healthy development needs to be accepted and loved above all. Nowadays, it distorts the fundamental importance of marriage and family. Increasingly, the faithful Christians and destroy their original meaning. The desire for God is inscribed in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God. God does not cease to attract man to himself and only in God finds a man of truth and happiness that constantly looking for the ultimate reason for human dignity lies in man's vocation to communion with God. The child must be since its birth molded versatile that from it grew a moral and respectable man who once stand as family and social life, will be able to care for themselves, will be able to distinguish good from evil, beauty from bad taste and will was able to positively used in personal and family life.

    Christian is a religion that assumes the personalistic and integral conception of man. The human individual is an individual and personal being with physical (carnal) and spiritual (religious, eschatological) dimensions. In the process of shaping a mature Christian personality the awareness of vocation, hope for full (physical, intellectual, social, and religious-moral) development, and accomplishment of the human goal worthy of the person play an important role. The awareness of one's own calling, general (to holiness) and personal (to a particular social role), are important elements in Christian education. This education is based on the principles of religion initiated by Jesus, and it consists in conveying His message and self-improvement of the faithful in conformity with the rules of the Gospel. The latter's ideal being the love of God and brotherly love among people. Now analysing the issue of vocation and hope in Christian education one may state that in the light of the Catholic doctrine man is a person capable of development. In this process it is important that the faithful understand their own calling and adopt attitudes of love and hope. Hope strengthens motivation to realise general propositions and individual obligations, that is, social roles. Man is called by God to salvation and definite tasks. With his autonomous decision he responds to this calling by his respective way of life. The latter shoud be imbued with the faith in God, love of God and neighbour, and hope that one has some opportunities for development, perfectibility (to be holy) and eternal life. According to Christian understanding, God with His independent decision endows man with the gift of calling to life and holiness. Man may accept this proposal or not. Acting against God's intention, however, always brings forth dramatic consequences. To sum up, we may say that the attitude of Christian hope helps us overcome the difficulties in our worldly life, so that we can make efforts to accomplish the goal of the Kingdom of God (heaven). The awarness of one's own vocation and a clear goal, i.e. life with God and eternal bliss, are important elements that confer the ultimate sense on human existence and factors conducive to the personal development of man.

    This article attempts to theoretically define the term “divine pedagogy”, which is very important for Christian education practices. On the basis of natural cognition the meaningfulness of this term is based on the view on the existence of personal God, which decontradictifies the existence of a being composed of the act of existence and essence. The human person participates in God. This vertical dimension of human life may also be regarded metaphysically as a continuous keeping in existence. Also, the issue of the personal being of man, his/her natural religiosity are important components that create the intellectual climate of philosophy open to faith. In contemporary culture, this lack of such openness is visible in, which does not facilitate a perception of the place of Christian pedagogy in academic discourse. Philosophical solutions are responsible for this state of affairs. Overall, the point is whether man can cognitively ascertain the reality of the religious relationship on the part of its object, i.e. personal God, and thereby integrate the horizontal dimension of education with vertical one whereby the act of upbringing, human pedagogy is performed in the perspective of divine pedagogy. Therefore, the article recalls the Thomistic metaphysics and its thesis that reason and faith are complementary.

    This paper analyses two prayer books, authored by two Sisters Couriers of Christ’s Sacred Heart: Józefa Chudzyńska (1836-1914) and Cecylia Plater-Zyberk (1853-1920). The prayer book by Chudzyńska was entitled Preparation for Confession and Easter Holy Communion – A Three-day Retreat for Youth [...] in the Form of a Private Conversation. The latter book was entitled Catholic Life. A Book for Prayer and Contemplation in Two Parts. Both books used Catholic religion as their background – with its emphasis on Gospel, Catechism and liturgy – in order to create a new model of a Catholic woman: a good wife and mother, a careful housekeeper, an open neighbour and a person who performs duly all the duties of her state out of her Catholic inspiration.

    The documents of the Church devote a lot of space to marriage and family. They show marriage and family as natural communities that cannot be substituted by any other institutions. They also point to the necessity of the Christian formation of all the subjects of Church life, among which the first place is taken by family. Introduction into the full Christian life of children, young people and adults is done during the family catechesis. It is a contingent, immediate and practical teaching of religious truths in the family home. This task is first of all the parents’ responsibility; in this way they pass the exam in their religious education and educational skills. Grandparents, elder siblings, as well as the school and the parish help the parents. Family catechesis also effects the preparation for marital and family life. It is a way to revive families for Christian life, to look properly at the preparation to marriage, to live in sanctity and to fulfill the marital and family duties conscientiously.

    Pope John Paul II is definitely the greatest authority of modern times. As Pope, the head of the Catholic Church, he taught and educated the faithful. He issued a lot of magnificent Church documents: encyclicals, adhortations, apostolic letters that put the issues connected with religion in order and made one realize the need of proper opening to the world, man and God. With his personal behavior he gave a model of Christian life. The Holy Father was considered to be amaster and a „prophet” of our times. He always had the courage of unambiguously preaching Jesus Christ's message to the world. He conducted diverse and intensive apostolic activities. Analysis of John Paul II's statements and behavior shows that when carrying out the mission of evangelizing the world he had a very well thought out and consistent conception of education. Hence talking about John Paul II's own peculiar pedagogy is fully justified. The personalist-theological perspective is the basic element of this pedagogy. The chief thesis in the Pope's attitude towards education was accepting such an anthropology that considers both the positive elements of the human being (because he is a God's child), and his weaknesses, shortcomings, lack of order, which result from the original sin. In the process of education and self-education the human being is obliged by God Himself to realize in his life certain values, and especially: faith, hope and love. The basic aim of education is to develop the human being's subjectivity and to transmit the proper canon of values to him, including moral and religious values. First of all, the Pope wanted to direct man towards Christ, and to do this, besides his personal influence he used various external means, which he appreciated both in his teachings and in practice. Today it can be said that the fruit of John Paul II's pedagogical actions can be seen in many people's attitudes. The fact that many young people pronounce themselves in favor of the values accepted by John Paul II and that his attitude is meaningful is expressed in the movement defined as The John Paul II Generation.

    The founder of the Order of Franciscan Sisters Servants of the Cross and at the same time a co-founder of the “Laski Work”, who lived in the 20th century, may be considered a wise and sagacious educator. The spiritual notes she left (Notatki and Dyrektorium), written under the influence and at the request of her spiritual guide, reveal Czacka's extraordinary deliberateness. Conscious of human limitations that are a result and a consequence of the original sin, she emphasized the necessity of absolute trust to God, so that discovering His love one could accept anything that He reveals to the man with faith and hope, including the gift and grace of suffering. In the process of Christian formation she also ascribed an important role to prayer as well as to healthy, moderate asceticism. It seems that Czacka's reflections that also today topical, may be a help not only to consecrated people, but also to all those who undertake the work of constant, permanent spiritual formation.

Do tego wszystkiego dochodzi obecnie kryzys wywołany pandemią Covid-19, który niewątpliwie staje się wyzwaniem. Nie można mu sprostać nie dostrzegając wagi szeroko pojętego wychowywania. Artykuł ukazuje niektóre aktualne wyzwania wychowawcze, jak również możliwy wkład chrześcijaństwa w podejmowanie tych wyzwań. Z tej perspektywy należy dostrzec charakter i styl katolickich instytucji edukacyjnych, uwzględniając, na bazie podstaw antropologii i etyki, rzeczywistość, zarówno wewnętrzną w sensie personalistycznym, jak też środowisko społeczno-kulturowe, w którym żyje człowiek. W konkluzjach przedstawiono kilka podstawowych propozycji wychowywania do życia wiarą w naszym kontekście kulturowym, które dotyczą nauczania, komunikowania i głoszenia wiary. La aportación de la perspectiva Cristiana en el actual momento educativo La tarea educativa, con sus requerimientos de personalización y coherencia, se inscribe hoy en un contexto cultural, caracterizado sobre todo por la globalización tecnológica y la cultura digital. A esto se suma, por ahora, la crisis causada por la pandemia del Covid-19, crisis que a la vez desafía y valoriza la educación. En estas páginas se abordan algunos desafíos educativos actuales y cuál puede ser la aportación cristiana. En esta perspectiva se perfilan el carácter y el estilo de las instituciones educativas de inspiración católica, sin dejar de reclamar, sobre los fundamentos de la antropología y de la ética, una atención a la realidad, tanto a la realidad interior de las personas como al entorno sociocultural. Finalmente se formulan algunas propuestas de base para la educación de la fe en nuestro momento cultural, que relacionan la enseñanza, la comunicación y el anuncio de la fe. 
    La tarea educativa, con sus requerimientos de personalización y coherencia, se inscribe hoy en un contexto cultural, caracterizado sobre todo por la globalización tecnológica y la cultura digital. A esto se suma, por ahora, la crisis causada por la pandemia del Covid-19, crisis que a la vez desafía y valoriza la educación. En estas páginas se abordan algunos desafíos educativos actuales y cuál puede ser la aportación cristiana. En esta perspectiva se perfilan el carácter y el estilo de las instituciones educativas de inspiración católica, sin dejar de reclamar, sobre los fundamentos de la antropología y de la ética, una atención a la realidad, tanto a la realidad interior de las personas como al entorno sociocultural. Finalmente se formulan algunas propuestas de base para la educación de la fe en nuestro momento cultural, que relacionan la enseñanza, la comunicación y el anuncio de la fe. 
    The mission of education, with its requirements for personalization and consistency, is today part of cultural context, characterized primarily by technological globalization and digital culture. On top of all this, there is the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which is undoubtedly becoming a challenge. It cannot be overcome without noticing the importance of education in its broadest sense. The article shows some of the current educational challenges and the possible contribution of Christianity to meeting these challenges. From this perspective, it is necessary to recognize the nature and style of Catholic educational institutions, taking into account—on the basis of the foundations of anthropology and ethics—the reality, both internal in the personalistic sense and the socio-cultural environment in which people live. The concluding section presents some basic proposals for educating to live the faith in our cultural context, which relate to teaching, communicating and announcing the faith.

    Istotą wychowania jest ukazanie tego, co wartościowe, a przekaz środowiska wychowawczego na temat wartości powinien być wspólny, klarowny i konsekwentny. Dla prawidłowego ukształtowania osobowości wychowanka, taki przekaz powinien płynąć z pierwszego, podstawowego, naturalnego środowiska wychowawczego, które funkcjonuje w domu rodzinnym, a tworzą je przede wszystkim rodzice, ale też rodzeństwo i dalsza rodzina. Wychowanie powinno mieć odniesienie do solidnego wzorca. Taki wzorzec dają wartości ogólnoludzkie, a w jeszcze większym stopniu wartości chrześcijańskie, akceptujące prawa natury, które rozświetla Objawienie Boże. Dogodne warunki do tego, by mógł dokonywać się integralny rozwój osoby w oparciu o wartości związane z domem, stwarza edukacja domowa. Daje ona dużą szansę, ale jest również wyzwaniem dla zainteresowanych taką formą kształcenia rodzin, jak również społeczeństwa i państwa.
    The essence of education is to show what is valuable, and the message of educational environment should be common, clear and consistent. For shaping student's personality properly, such message should flown from the first basic, natural educational environment which is in the family home, and is created mainly by parents, but siblings and other relatives also contribute to creating it. Upbringing should be related to a paragon. Such a paragon gives human values, and even more Christian values accepting laws of nature which illuminate the Revelation of God. Home education creates favourable conditions to let integral development of a person take place based on values related to home. It gives a great opportunity, but it is also a challenge not only for those interested in such a form of family education but also for the society and the state.

    W Polsce da się obecnie zauważyć ożywienie postaw patriotycznych i poczucia świadomości narodowej, które stanowi wzywanie dla rozmaitych instytucji społecznych, w tym także dla Kościoła katolickiego. Opublikowany w 2017 r. dokument Konferencji Episkopatu Polski Chrześcijański kształt patriotyzmu, przygotowany przez Radę do spraw Społecznych można potraktować jako odpowiedź Kościoła na wspomniane zjawisko. Artykuł podejmuje próbę ukazania patriotyzmu jako wyzwania dla Kościoła w Polsce w świetle wspomnianego dokumentu. W tym celu ukazuje najpierw chrześcijańskie rozumienie patriotyzmu, następnie omawia wychowanie do patriotyzmu, zwracając szczególną uwagę na instytucje odpowiedzialne za to wychowanie. Na zakończenie prezentuje najważniejsze wyzwania i trudności, jakie rodzą się w wyniku swoistego odradzania się polskiego patriotyzmu.
    A revival of patriotic attitudes and national superiority can be observed in Poland nowadays, which poses a challenge for various social institutions, also for the Catholic Church. A document published in 2017 by the Polish Bishops’ Conference, titled Chrześcijański kształt patriotyzmu (The shape of Catholic patriotism), prepared by the Social Council, may be treated as the Church’s response to the new phenomenon. The article attempts to present patriotism as a challenge for the Church in Poland in the light of the abovementioned document. It offers an insight into a Christian understanding of patriotism, discusses patriotic education and draws attention to institutions responsible for such education. Finally, it points towards major challenges and difficulties that arise in the context of patriotic revival.

    In the present article the meaning of `education' is discussed from the position of pedagogy of culture and the values are pointed to that are realized by Stanisław Jachowicz (1796-1857) in Ćwiczenia pobożne rozwijające myśl (1857) – the highest, most important, most valuable values, that are a perfect model for Christian education. Hence, the structural analysis of Jachowicz's selected texts and their problems are discussed and their worldview, spiritual, ethical and cognitive values are pointed to; next, the kinds of utterances and the techniques used by the writer are shown in order to pronounce the fact that he professed Christian principles and wanted his readers to become pious, good people who would propagate the good. The analytical method is mainly used, and it is complemented with the method of statistical analysis, which allows discovering more deeply Jachowicz's pedagogical thought that, in the author's opinion, belongs to the so-called pedagogy of culture. It has been found that in the collection Jachowicz declares his adherence to the Catholic worldview and becomes its exponent and apologist. He emphasizes the greatness, omnipresence and uncommonness of God, at the same time teaching his readers to worship Him. This is done in various ways: he orders it, prays, and teaches. It has been calculated that as many as 91.5% of all the statements in the examined works worship God. Jachowicz also distinctly expresses spiritual values, such as man's contact with God; Christian virtues: faith, hope, trust, vocation and responsibility; struggle against evil; and man's participation in the salutary Passion of Redemption. Also another group is distinguished – that of ethical values (moral imperatives), like: honest work, piety, honor, respect for life, man's dignity, intellectual development, humility; as well as cognitive values containing the image of real world and man's activity, shaping the recipient's consciousness and teaching him to foresee the results of his actions and reasoning, expressing the care for human life marked with chastity, piety, unselfishness, continuously remembering about God and about eternal salvation. These values are expressed in three forms: order-appeal, prayer and direction (instruction). Also the techniques that are used and the kinds of statements have been examined in order to prove that orders having the informative-instructive, instructive, esthetic, captivating, instructive-captivating, and captivating-esthetic functions dominate. By means of them Jachowicz educates with the aim of respecting Christian values, calling for a fully happy life, united with God, for sainthood. It turns out that to this goal he also uses various kinds of prayer: adoration, request, imploration; and he utters evaluating statements – which has not been yet emphasized – as a priest with an intensive inner life. Hopefully the present article will allow pedagogues to make the young generation consciously and more profoundly make the discussed values come true in their lives. However, it must be added that the present article is the first result of studies on Stanisław of Dzików's literary output and it does not exhaust the issue; nevertheless the author hopes to meet the challenge in the future.

    Thorough analyses of the formative process prove that it is effective only when at a certain stage it evokes in the disciple the will to work on his or her self-formation. It consists in conscious and voluntary work to form oneself, to set non-personal goals for oneself, and adopt a creative attitude toward them. This effort tends to make a mature and integrated personality. Self-formation in the Christina approach is to work on one's versatile development directed at salvation. This kind of activity is a consequence of Christian faith in which the person through baptism becomes spiritually regenerated and called to be clothed with Jesus Christ (Gal 3:27). In practice, this means that one is working to be like Christ in thoughts and deeds. The faith in Christ ensures a radical transformation and complete development through self-knowledge, self-evaluation, and respective actions to live in truth and love.
