    The text develops selected aspects of the philosophical-existential issues evoked by the quotation from K. Gąsiorowski's poetry contained in the title of the article. First of all tautology of the poetic quasi-definition of the world presented in the fragment is a problem. Secondly, the impression of the triumph of philosophical context (especially of E. Husserl and M. Heidegger) of the meaning of the word “world” evoked in the analyzed phrase over its semantic content in the aesthetic dimension (over the reduction of the poetic function, bordering on banality) is a contentious issue. In the discussion of the latter of these problems – limited because of the requirement concerning the brevity of the article – the category of “the third man” as a social construct formulated by Gąsiorowski – will prove helpful.

    The article focuses on the theoretical analysis of the individual and collective mental assumptions of the pedagogic. The dimension between the individualism and the collectivism which is descendent from cultural models play the role in the process of shaping and polarizing the educational orientation. The description of the orientation is presented by illustrating chosen aspects. The radical statement of this dimension implies abject characteristics in the process of up bringing. In the sphere of the theory and the pedagogical practice there are certain dilemmas such as: the exception- the ubiquitous, the emancipation — the adaptation, the autonomy - the control, the individual - the identification, the idiosyncratic - the category, the self-identity - the social-identity. Facing all aspects which are named here there is a submission of temperance which does not dichotomizes that dimension but integrates its attributes.

    Opis:
    According to the latest research institutional trust may serve as a significant predictor of prosociality. The main purpose of this article is to examine types of trust as predictors of moral attitudes “towards”, “away” and “against” people. Another aim is to examine institutional trust as a predictor of moral attitudes in correlation to other significant predictors, like religiousness, education and size of town. This paper presents analysis in the course of which interpersonal and institutional trust has been confirmed as alternative (potentially competing) predictors of moral attitudes than other established variables, e.g., religiousness. Presented findings allow to pose the question about the future of religion in stable, democratic societies.
    Na podstawie dostępnych badań można stwierdzić, że zaufanie instytucjonalne może stanowić istotny predyktor prospołeczności. Głównym celem niniejszego opracowania jest zbadanie współzależności pomiędzy typami zaufania a typami orientacji moralnych „do”, „od” i „przeciw” ludziom. Kolejnym celem jest także określenie współzależności pomiędzy zaufaniem instytucjonalnym a orientacjami moralnymi z uwzględnieniem takich zmiennych, jak religijność, wykształcenie i wielkość miejscowości zamieszkania. W artykule zaprezentowano analizę, która pozwala uznać zaufanie interpersonalne oraz zaufanie instytucjonalne za alternatywne (potencjalnie konkurencyjne) predyktory orientacji moralnych w porównaniu do innych bardziej ugruntowanych czynników, tj. religijność. Wyniki badań pozwalają stawiać pytanie o przyszłość religii w stabilnych i demokratycznych społeczeństwach, której rola i funkcje mogą być kwestionowane.

    Opis:
    The historical development and theoretical specificity of pedagogy as it is practiced at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin is the subject of the article. The author describes the process of historical formation and development of the Institute of Pedagogy of the CUL that has been going on since Poland regained its independence, against the background of social changes. The author synthetically characterizes: the traditions of Polish pedagogy of the period of Partitions (1795-1918), the specific character of pedagogy in the period of the Second Polish Republic (1918-1939) and the achievements of Polish pedagogy after the Second World War. In an analytical way the process of development of pedagogy at the CUL is shown in the perspective of the formation of pedagogy as a science, both in the administrative and theoretical aspects. In the administrative aspect the achievements of the Institute of Pedagogy in the fields of research as well as of didactics have been presented. In the theoretical aspect a list has been compiled of the main research orientations (theoretical models) of modem pedagogy in Poland. Against this background an analysis has been made of the main categories of personalistic pedagogy characteristic of the CUL.
    Przedmiotem artykułu jest rozwój historyczny i specyfika teoretyczna pedagogiki uprawianej w Katolickim Uniwersytecie Lubelskim Jana Pawła II. Autor opisuje proces historycznego formowania się i rozwoju Instytutu Pedagogiki KUL na tle zmian społecznych, jaki dokonał się w okresie od odzyskania przez Polskę niepodległości do chwili obecnej. Autor syntetycznie charakteryzuje: tradycje polskiej pedagogiki okresu rozbiorów, specyfikę pedagogiki okresu II RP oraz dorobek pedagogiki polskiej po II wojnie światowej. W sposób analityczny proces rozwoju pedagogiki w KUL ukazany został w perspektywie formowania się pedagogiki jako nauki, zarówno w aspekcie administracyjnym, jak i teoretycznym. W aspekcie administracyjnym opisano dorobek badawczy i dydaktyczny Instytutu Pedagogiki. W aspekcie teoretycznym zamieszczono zestawienie głównych orientacji (teoretycznych modeli) badawczych współczesnej pedagogiki w Polsce. Na tym tle podjęta została analiza głównych kategorii koncepcji pedagogiki personalistycznej - charakterystycznej dla ośrodka KUL.
