    This article presents the figure of the Venetian historical improviser Tonin di Bonagrazia, one of the protagonists of Norwid’s novel Tajemnica lorda Singelworth [Lord Singelworth’s Secret]. The author reached the article mentioned by the poet in the footnote to the novella and image of the Italian actor and she put together the knowledge of the era with Norwid’s artistic creation. In the second part of the article, the author also pointed to the yet hypothetical inspiration for the title character of the novella – presumably the Greek poet Dionisios Solomos.
    W artykule została bliżej zaprezentowana postać historycznego improwizatora weneckiego Tonin di Bonagrazia, jednego z bohaterów noweli Norwida Tajemnica lorda Singelworth. Autorka dotarła do artykułu wzmiankowanego przez poetę w przypisie do noweli oraz wizerunku włoskiego aktora i zestawiła wiedzę epoki z kreacją artystyczną Norwida. W drugiej części artykułu autorka wskazała też na hipotetyczną wciąż inspirację dla tytułowego bohatera noweli, którą miałby być grecki poeta Dionisios Solomos.

    The article is devoted to Boles"aw Prus’s nowel Jacob’s Dream (1875) – to the way it is received in a context different from the original one. Published for a second time in Evening stories (1895) it is a debate the author of The Doll holds with the positivist program of assimilation of the Jews. At the same time the author indicates the new possibilities Zionism gives. Prus tries to see the threats the Jewish nation will face when it will build its state. In many points Prus’s views remind of Theodor Herzl’s opinions. The article is also an attempt at showing the evolution of Boles"aw Prus’s attitude towards the so-called Jewish issue in the 19th century, which is to a large degree typical of his generation.

    The article is devoted to short stories by Adam Grzymała-Siedlecki, a writer know first of all for his critical studies and writings that have a character of memoirs. Ten works were analyzed that come from the early stage of the work of the author of Samosęki. Short stories were edited in two collections (1911, 1921) and both were published under the same title – Galeria moich bliźnich (Gallery of my neighbors), although the contents of the volumes is not identical. Attention was paid to the great thematic range of the collection proving Siedlecki's versatility. The plots of the works and the main protagonists were analyzed. These motifs and threads were pointed to that were characteristic for the writer and appear in his later books. They were, among others, problems like the military, the gentry manor and its inhabitants, the issue of bourgeoisie, as well as the motif of the artist and his vocation, or more broadly, the problem of the truth in literature. The issue of time and space in Siedlecki's works was also analyzed. The whole of the issue was placed in a broader historico-literary context.

    Wiatr – to jeden ważnych obok słońca, księżyca, chmur, mrozu czy nieba konceptów wchodzących w skład konceptosfery Wasyla Tkaczuka – ukraińskiego nowelisty lat 30. XX w. Koncept wiatr funkcjonuje w systemie pozostałych konceptów, treści których zakodowane są w kulturowo-mentalnościowej przestrzeni narodu i jednocześnie w indywidualno-autorskim obrazie świata. Przeżycia bohaterów zharmonizowane są w najwyższym stopniu z elementami świata przyrody. Tak więc czytelnik paralelnie do działań bohaterów śledzi „poczynania” wiatru czy wspomnianych wyżej słońca, księżyca, chmur, mrozu, nieba. Zgłębienie jednego z ważnych konceptów w prozie Wasyla Tkaczuka jest tym bardziej zajmujące, iż mało znana spuścizna twórcza nowelisty wciąż czeka na należne jej miejsce w kanonie ukraińskiej literatury.
    Wind, apart from the Sun, moon, clouds, frost or the sky, is one of the most important concepts presented by Wasyl Tkaczuk, a Ukrainian short story writer of the 1930s. The concept of wind functions in the system of other concepts, contents, which are embedded into the cultural and mental identity of the nation, as well as in the individual and authorial image of the world. The experiences of heroes are harmonized to the highest degree with the elements of the natural world. Therefore the reader can trace the „actions” of the wind, Sun, moon, clouds, frost or the sky along with the actions of the heroes. Exploring one of the major concepts in the prose of Wasyl Tkaczuk is all the more engaging that the little-known creative legacy of the short story writer still awaits its rightful place in the canon of Ukrainian literature.
