    Opis:
    This article analyses the difficulties with operationalizing the concept of cultural identity. This operationalization is necessary if one wants to research the impact of cultural identity on social behaviour, with a particular reference to economic behaviour. The article comprises two parts. The former focuses on the concept of cultural identity in the context of inheritance of cultural norms and behaviour patterns. The latter discusses problems in defining cultural identity and in defining empirical variables that can help research cultural identity. The paper does not provide a survey of the existing stock of empirical research of the topic. The abundance of such studies forces the author to confine herself to only signalling major problems relating to researching cultural identity.

    The enhancement of cohesion policy can be achieved through an analysis of cultural conditioning. Given the ongoing economic integration taking place in Europe, the cultural and historical conditioning can pose various threats to less developed and more peripheral regions. Such an analysis can bring an opportunity to transfer knowledge and solutions to problems associated with cultural diversity management. It is worth noting that this can affect the way the allocation of structural funds is optimized.

    The paper analyses the problem of ethnicity with respect to globalising processes ongoing in contemporary societies. The author puts forward a thesis that there is an influence of global interculturalism that transcends national ties and crossing over cultural borders. The course of these phenomena is analysed within the context of the circumstances of the Australian state. A particular stress is laid on the issue of building a multicultural nation by the multiethnic society of Australia. This multicultural nation is a new value. At the same time the paper depicts achievements and failures in the multicultural policy assumed and carried out in this country.

    The paper is a sociological attempt to analyze ethnocentrism. Ethnocentrism should not be treated as an embarrassing issue. It makes up inevitable barrier to communication between different cultures. Its representatives ought to be aware of it and do their best to minimalize its negative symptomps that are the reason for numerous contemporary conflicts. We can head them off by promoting direct, interpersonal relations and reflective communication. In prospect of European co-operation this topic is particularly important because it marks the common ground and proposition of safe and satysfying relations. Lifting ethnocentric barrier to communication by implementing competence into the process of intercultural education should turn out to be helpful in dally realization of multicultural society also in Europe. Negative signs of ethnocentrism are avoidable but, as proved above, we need to start this process very early by promoting the idea of tolerance and open dialog as soon as possible.

    Dychotomia: Tożsamy/Inny niezmiennie określa pozycję wypowiadającego się podmiotu, stawiając go albo w centrum, albo na jego obrzeżach. Punktem wyjściowym dla przedstawionych w niniejszym artykule rozważań są teorie badacza postkolonialnego Homiego K. Bhabhy. Bhabha podkreśla udział kultury w wytwarzaniu narodu i proponuje kulturową konstrukcję pojęcia narodowości jako „formy afiliacji społecznej i tekstualnej”, jego zaś mieszkańców definiuje jako „historyczne ‘przedmioty’ pedagogiki nacjonalistycznej […] i ‘podmioty’ procesu nadawania znaczenia”, a więc nośniki przeszłości i teraźniejszości. Jak pokazują przywołane w analizie brytyjskie pisarki Monica Ali (w Brick Lane) i Zadie Smith (w Białych Zębach), kategoryzowanie jednostek i grup ze względu na ich przynależność etniczną, rasową czy kulturową nie ma już przełożenia na binarne opozycje i politykę różnicy ukazaną w Marionetkach V.S. Naipaula. Nałożenie się różnorodnych, niejednokrotnie przeciwstawnych indeksów sprawia, że trudno zastosować esencjonalizm do wysoce hybrydyzowanych jednostek. Kultura Innego została przeszczepiona na grunt centrum, które dotąd było uważane przez Tożsamego za homogeniczne.

    Artykuł jest próbą krytycznej interpretacji tekstów autorstwa Leona Dyczewskiego podejmujących zagadnienie relacji między kulturą narodową, kulturą europejską, tożsamością kulturową i wielokulturowością. Artykuł rozpoczyna charakterystyka koncepcji kultury europejskiej Leona Dyczewskiego wraz z kanonem wartości europejskich. Następnie zaprezentowana została analiza zjawiska wielokulturowości w nowoczesnych społeczeństwach. Wielokulturowość jest rozumiana jako cecha środowiska społeczno-kulturowego, które odzwierciedla jego wewnętrzną złożoność i zróżnicowanie (dzięki czynnikom kulturowym, antropologicznym, psychologicznym i socjologicznym). Artykuł kończy charakterystyka pojęcia domowej wielokulturowości medialnej.
    The article presents an attempt to critical interpret texts written by Leon Dyczewski discusing issues of the relationships between the national culture, European culture, national identity and multiculturalism. The article begins with the descriptions of the Dyczewski’s concept of the European culture with the canon of the European values. Subsequently was presented the review of the phenomenon of multiculturalism in the modern societies. Multiculturalism is understood as a feature of the socio-cultural environment, which mirrors its internal complexity and diversity (due to the cultural, anthropological, psychological and sociological factors). The article ends the characteristic the notion of the multiculturalism from the media in home.

    Celem publikacji jest weryfikacja polityki programowej telewizji publicznej oraz analiza audycji dla mniejszości narodowych i etnicznych oraz społeczności posługującej się językiem regionalnym w programach ogólnokrajowych Telewizji Polskiej S.A.: TVP1 i TVP2, TVP3 Regionalna, TVP Info, TVP Regionalna oraz na antenach ośrodków regionalnych TVP w 2003 oraz w 2013 r. Po wstępnych rozważaniach terminologicznych (tożsamość kulturowa, mniejszości narodowe, mniejszości etniczne, język regionalny) przedstawiono podstawy prawne ochrony dostępu mniejszości narodowych i etnicznych do programów telewizji publicznej. Następnie dokonano ilościowej analizy zawartości oraz jakościowej analizy treści wspomnianych audycji w programach telewizji publicznej w 2003 oraz 2013 r. Odrębne analizy ilościowe i jakościowe zostały przeprowadzone dla audycji nadawanych w programach ogólnopolskich (Program 1, Program 2 TVP S.A.) oraz TVP Info (w tym pasmo wspólne oraz oddziały regionalne telewizji publicznej). Przedstawiono także wyniki monitoringu w zakresie przedmiotowych audycji, wyemitowanych w OTV Białystok oraz w OTV Gdańsk. Artykuł kończą podsumowujące wnioski. W artykule zastosowano metodę analityczno-opisową, ilościową analizę zawartości oraz jakościową analizę treści.
    The aim of the publication is a verification of public television program policy and analysis content of broadcasts for national and ethnic minorities and community using the regional language in nationwide programs of Polish Television: TVP1 and TVP2, TVP3 Regional, TVP Info, TVP Regional and regional TVP centers in 2003 and 2013. After a preliminary discussion of terminology (cultural identity, national minorities, ethnic minorities, regional language), the article presents the legal basis for the protection of access to public television of national minorities and ethnic minorities. Subsequently, the paper analyzes the share of the aforementioned broadcasts in the public television programs in 2003 and 2013. Separate analyzes are conducted for broadcasts in 2004 and 2013, in nationwide programs (Program 1, Program 2 of TVP S.A.) and TVP Info (including the common band and regional branches of public television). The article presents also the results of the monitoring program of the broadcasts in question, issued by Polish Television TVP Gdańsk and TVP Białystok. The article ends with summary conclusions. The method of the paper involves descriptive analytical, content analysis and quantitative analysis.

    Następujące po sobie pokolenia przemijają, ale będące świadectwem ich życia i działalności osiągnięcia kultury materialnej i niematerialnej trwają. Świadczą o ich twórcach, ale również o państwie, którego społeczność tworzyli. Ta spuścizna przeszłych pokoleń ma ogromne znaczenie dla obecnych i przyszłych pokoleń. Określa człowieka, chroni jego tożsamość, daje poczucie przynależności, integruje z innymi członkami danej społeczności, buduje wspólną pamięć i społeczną wrażliwość. Obowiązkiem państwa jest strzeżenie dziedzictwa kulturowego, będącego znakiem obecności ludzi zamieszkujących na przestrzeni dziejów ziemie Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej. Ogromna część tego dziedzictwa znajduje się na terytorium kresów dawnej Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej, które dzisiaj należą do suwerennych państw z nią sąsiadujących. Państwo Polskie jest zainteresowane utrzymaniem w należytym stanie tych swoistych świadków historii i wspólnie z rządami sąsiadujących z nim państw podejmuje inicjatywy, których celem jest przywrócenie im dawnej świetności. Ma do tego moralne prawo, a nawet obowiązek wobec przeszłych pokoleń, które przez wieki tworzyły kulturę polską na tych ziemiach, kształtując postawy i wartości patriotyczne. To potężne wyzwanie i jednocześnie zadanie, by przekazać przyszłym pokoleniom to wszystko, co cenne z ponad tysiącletniego dorobku.
    Successive generations go by, yet there remain the accomplishments of their material and non-material culture, bearing testimony to their life and activity. They speak about their creators but also about the state they were citizens of. This heritage of past generations has great importance for present and future generations. It defines a human, protects his or her identity, gives the feeling of belonging, integrates him or her with other members of the community, creates common memory and social sensitivity. It is the duty of the state to protect cultural heritage, which is a token of presence of people who lived in the territory of the Republic of Poland over centuries. A huge amount of that heritage lies within the areas of the Marches of the old Commonwealth of Poland, which now belong to neighbouring sovereign states. The Polish state is interested in keeping in good condition its witnesses of history and, together with its neighbouring counties, it takes up initiatives which aim to restore their past glory. It has a moral right to do it, and even a duty towards past generations, which for centuries have created Polish culture in those areas, shaping patriotic attitudes and values. This also poses a huge challenge and at the same time is a task to pass on to future generations everything that is valuable from the more-than-one-thousand-year-old heritage.

    Przez wiele ostatnich dekad akademicka eklezjologia katolicka była skoncentrowana głównie na Kościele powszechnym. Nadszedł czas by „odkryła” obecność Boga także w Kościołach lokalnych i partykularnych, ich historii, wyjątkowych osobach (świętych, błogosławionych, męczennikach), wkładzie w kulturę, życie społeczne i moralne. Katolicka eklezjologia powinna otworzyć oczy na wyjątkowość i tożsamość lokalnych i partykularnych Kościołów. Dotychczas pojęcie „tożsamość” w języku eklezjologicznym było zarezerwowane do Kościoła powszechnego i rozumiane jako jego statyczna natura oraz przymioty. Niniejszy artykuł jest metodologicznym zarysem rozumienia tożsamości Kościołów lokalnych i partykularnych. Inicjuje go wprowadzenie do właściwego, nieredukcyjnego, rozumienia pojęcia „tożsamość Kościoła”, po czym omówione zostały główne tychże Kościołów rodzaje tożsamości wraz z ich komponentami: tożsamość teologiczna (tożsamość w Bogu, tożsamość eklezjologiczna, teologiczna auto-tożsamość, tożsamość personalistyczna, pastoralna, tożsamość w znakach wiarygodności, tożsamość w kontekście aktualnych wyzwań), tożsamość historyczna (geneza, główne okresy dziejów, tożsamość stanowiona, ogólna tożsamość historyczna, aktualna tożsamość historyczna), tożsamość etyczno-moralna, tożsamość kulturowa i inne (tożsamość religijna, aktualna auto-tożsamość, tożsamość komparatywna). Autor ma nadzieję, że nowa metodologiczna perspektywa, ukazana w artykule, może wzbogacić eklezjologię, uczynić ją bardziej realistyczną, „żywą” oraz otworzyć ją na nowe sposoby uzasadniania wiarygodności Kościoła.
    According to the Catholic faith the Church established by Jesus Christ subsistit in the Catholic Church as the Universal Church (Ecclesia universalis, Catholica). This Church is also communio Ecclesiarum and subsistit in local and particular Churches, and in community among them. Joseph Ratzinger, following the teaching of the Catholic Church, reminds that a local Church (Ecclesia localis) means a patriarchy or a `specific community of traditions and rites' and a particular Church (Ecclesia particularis) means a community of believers subjected to one bishop (a diocese). Post-conciliar Catholic ecclesiology has been mostly focused on the Universal Church. Such `universal' ecclesiology earned mature methodologies. But meantime, the Universal Church has also been present in local and particular Churches which are making their own history and identity day by day. For example, in 2016 the Catholic Church in Poland celebrated 1050th Jubilee which itself offered an opportunity to describe its main dimensions and identity. So-called young Churches are on their way to establish their identity. By no means, in our times and eyes the `identity' becomes one of the key-words in theological refection on the Church. The more secular the modern world and culture become, the more clearly one can see the difference between them and the Church. This paper offers a methodological outline of the identity of local and particular Catholic Churches. Its purpose is to name and shortly describe main kinds of such identity (theological, historical, ethical-moral, cultural) and their components. But first, making some remarks as introduction is very much required.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przybliżenie kategorii tożsamości narodowej jako tej, która kształtowana jest w pierwszej, najważniejszej społeczności wychowującej, jaką jest rodzina. Nastawienie badaczy szukających odpowiedzi na pytanie „Kim jesteśmy?” i dociekających struktury tożsamości stało się kluczowe dla poznania w naukach społecznych. Tożsamość stanowi problem egzystencjalny, stąd zasadne jest przybliżenie znaczenia rodziny w procesie kształtowania tożsamości narodowej w warunkach towarzyszących jej przemian społeczno-kulturowych.
    The purpose of this article is to introduce a category of identity, including a national identity which is formed in the first instance in the most important institution – a family. An attitude of the researchers who investigate the structure of identity, and those who search for an answer to the question: “Who are we?” has become crucial to a cognition in social sciences. Identity is an existential problem therefore it is relevant to introduce the value of a family affected by a socio-cultural transition in shaping the national identity.

    Opis:
    The author’s basic aim was to attempt defining the relations occurring between the European way of managing a company and the European cultural model. The author is attempting a presentation of the effect of the cultural factor – in the historical dimension – on the manifestations of the process of the European way of managing a company. The sphere of culture favors creating Euro-managers’ consciousness and identity, and also influences the manifestations of the European way of managing a company.

    Opis:
    The article is placed in the scope of research of classical studies, drama and theatre studies, and cultural studies. It is an attempt of social interpretation of Aristophanes’ Assemblywomen. Utopia, matriarchy, cultural identity of sex or stereotypes of women and men are the main questions raised in the article. An utopian project of matriarchy created in the old-Greek comedy is a basic object of interpretation. The author employs propositions of interpretation submitted by Angus M. Bowie, Gwendolyn Compton-Engle, Jerzy Łanowski, Kenneth M. De Luca, Kenneth S. Rothwell. Assemblywomen shows that a big idea which could create wealth of society can be easily metamorphosed into its opposition. It should be said that Aristophanes’ theatre achievements supplement modern social and cross-cultural research and are important and attractive texts for demanding readers/spectators of any time.

    This paper is focused on John Paul II’s understanding of such terms as Europe and its essence, genesis of Europe, its history, contemporaneity and future. According to John Paul II’s teaching Europe was created by Christianity which shaped also its essence (identity) having unique in the world culture-creative power. The papal diagnosis was not only naming actual dangers and strict rejecting of this identity, but also consequences of these processes.
