    Contemporary man encounters digitality on a daily basis, which affects his life at specific stages of development. This applies above all to the period of childhood and youth, when one is naturally subjected to educational processes. The Directory of Catechesis points out that this influence is so significant that it allows us to speak of a new culture, changing language, shaping mentality and introducing a new hierarchy of values. An important feature of the new culture is its global reach, because digitality by its nature crosses the borders of countries and continents, and geographical distances lose their importance for it. The ecclesiastical legislator, while respecting the right of every person to attain full personal development, declares in can. 217 CCL/1983 the right of all the faithful to receive an integral Christian education. It is a continuous process that should be adapted not only to age, but also to the mentality of the faithful, which is significantly influenced by the new digital culture. The article answers the question of how to guarantee the right to Christian education in the conditions of digital culture. What duties ensue from this right of the faithful for the Pastors of the Church who carry out for them the mission of proclaiming the Gospel in the conditions of digital culture, with particular emphasis on the postulate of humanization of language.

    It seems that work and rest are two fundamentally different ways of human functioning. When acting we believe we are needed and we can find meaning of live. Rest is rather referred to a passive attitude, when man doesn’t perform any operations but regenerates his physical or spiritual forces. These seemingly independent phenomena, however, can be regarded as two “sides of the same coin”. Christian teaching stresses that both of them represent the ways for human development and growth of the relation with God. By analogy, I want to show that in the context of reflection on human work it’s worth to present complementary cognitive perspectives. Contemporary knowledge about our evolutionary ancestors reveals the picture of hominids who acquired basic livelihoods by physical work. Nevertheless, individual efforts became gradually involved in social group’s existence. Moreover, human will to survive had been completed with the search of non-pragmatic aims of engagement when work generated basic questions concerning the meaning and value of human cooperation. Integral anthropological thought, therefore, demands not only analysis from the natural sciences point of view but also humanistic reflections on the unique status of man who creates culture and puts deep metaphysical questions.

    The article attempts to present a few perspectives from African cultures on the Christian understanding of man. The central thesis argued for is that the interpenetration of the universalizing Christian culture and the particularizing cultures of indigenous peoples need not always breed tensions of values. As always, there are common entry points for harmonization which facilitates evangelization in view of those salvific fruits which `grace' always offers to `nature'. It can thus be clear from the above that my overall aim in this article is to show how the African cultural perspectives on the being of man shapes the reception of the Christian gospel about the human person as redeemed by Christ. To be sure, the key questions to which this article responds present themselves as follows: In what light does the Christian understanding of human person appeal to the African? In other words, what is the African perspective of the being of man and how does it influence the African's understanding of the Christian gospel of the redeemed humanity? Structurally, the article consists of three sections: First I shall present several entry points to the understanding of the human person, besides the chosen two perspectives — Christian and African — which we wish to harmonize. Next, I shall highlight the key principles which inform Christian anthropology on the one hand; as well as a few cultural generalities which are descriptive of a typical African anthropology. Finally, I try to present selected `anthropological' elements which highlight comparisons and divergences between Christianity and African cultures.
    Artykuł dąży do przedstawienia chrześcijańskiego rozumienia człowieka z kilku perspektyw kultury afrykańskiej. Główną tezą argumentacji jest to, że wzajemne przenikanie się uniwersalnej kultury afrykańskiej i partykularnych kultur lokalnych nie musi prowadzić do konfliktu wartości. Jak zawsze istnieją wspólne punkty wyjścia, ułatwiające ewangelizację w perspektywie zbawczych owoców, które łaska zawsze oferuje naturze. W świetle powyższego, głównym celem artykułu jest pokazanie, jak afrykańska perspektywa kulturowa, dotycząca rozumienia człowieka, kształtuje recepcję Ewangelii o człowieku zbawionym przez Chrystusa. Główne pytania badawcze stawiane w artykule brzmią następująco: w jakim świetle chrześcijańskie rozumienie człowieka przemawia do Afrykańczyka? Jaka jest afrykańska perspektywa człowieka i jak wpływa ona na afrykańskie rozumienie orędzia chrześcijańskiego o odkupionej ludzkości? Artykuł składa się z trzech części. W pierwszej przedstawione są punkty wyjścia do zrozumienia osoby ludzkiej, poza tym zostają zestawione dwie wybrane perspektywy: chrześcijańska i afrykańska. W drugiej części artykuł pokazuje główne zasady, które kształtują antropologię chrześcijańską, jak i kilka kulturowych wymiarów, które oznaczają specyfikę antropologii afrykańskiej. Wreszcie, tekst dąży do przedstawienia wybranych elementów antropologicznych, które naświetlają zbieżności i rozbieżności między chrześcijaństwem a kulturami afrykańskimi.

    Misja wychowywania, wraz ze swoimi wymaganiami dotyczącymi personalizacji oraz spójności, wpisuje się dzisiaj w kontekst kulturowy, charakteryzujący się przede wszystkim technologiczną globalizacją i kulturą cyfrową. Do tego wszystkiego dochodzi obecnie kryzys wywołany pandemią Covid-19, który niewątpliwie staje się wyzwaniem. Nie można mu sprostać nie dostrzegając wagi szeroko pojętego wychowywania. Artykuł ukazuje niektóre aktualne wyzwania wychowawcze, jak również możliwy wkład chrześcijaństwa w podejmowanie tych wyzwań. Z tej perspektywy należy dostrzec charakter i styl katolickich instytucji edukacyjnych, uwzględniając, na bazie podstaw antropologii i etyki, rzeczywistość, zarówno wewnętrzną w sensie personalistycznym, jak też środowisko społeczno-kulturowe, w którym żyje człowiek. W konkluzjach przedstawiono kilka podstawowych propozycji wychowywania do życia wiarą w naszym kontekście kulturowym, które dotyczą nauczania, komunikowania i głoszenia wiary. A esto se suma, por ahora, la crisis causada por la pandemia del Covid-19, crisis que a la vez desafía y valoriza la educación. En estas páginas se abordan algunos desafíos educativos actuales y cuál puede ser la aportación cristiana. En esta perspectiva se perfilan el carácter y el estilo de las instituciones educativas de inspiración católica, sin dejar de reclamar, sobre los fundamentos de la antropología y de la ética, una atención a la realidad, tanto a la realidad interior de las personas como al entorno sociocultural. Finalmente se formulan algunas propuestas de base para la educación de la fe en nuestro momento cultural, que relacionan la enseñanza, la comunicación y el anuncio de la fe.

    The mission of education, with its requirements for personalization and consistency, is today part of cultural context, characterized primarily by technological globalization and digital culture. On top of all this, there is the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which is undoubtedly becoming a challenge. It cannot be overcome without noticing the importance of education in its broadest sense. The article shows some of the current educational challenges and the possible contribution of Christianity to meeting these challenges. From this perspective, it is necessary to recognize the nature and style of Catholic educational institutions, taking into account—on the basis of the foundations of anthropology and ethics—the reality, both internal in the personalistic sense and the socio-cultural environment in which people live. The concluding section presents some basic proposals for educating to live the faith in our cultural context, which relate to teaching, communicating and announcing the faith.

    Współczesny człowiek spotyka się na co dzień z cyfrowością, która oddziałuje na jego życie na konkretnych etapach rozwojowych. Dotyczy to przede wszystkim okresu dzieciństwa i młodości, gdy w sposób naturalny podlega się procesom wychowawczym. Dyrektorium o katechizacji zwraca uwagę, że wpływ ten jest na tyle znaczący, że pozwala mówić o nowej kulturze – zmieniającej język, kształtującej mentalność oraz wprowadzającej nową hierarchię wartości. Istotną cechą nowej kultury jest jej globalny zasięg, ponieważ cyfrowość ze swojej natury przekracza granice państw i kontynentów, a odległości geograficzne tracą dla niej znaczenie. Ustawodawca kościelny, respektując prawo każdego człowieka do osiągnięcia pełnego rozwoju osobowego, deklaruje w kan. 217 KPK/1983 uprawnienie wszystkich wiernych do otrzymania integralnego wychowania chrześcijańskiego. Jest ono ciągłym procesem, który powinien być dostosowany nie tylko do wieku, lecz także do mentalności wiernych, na co znaczący wpływ ma nowa kultura cyfrowa. Artykuł odnosi się do pytania, w jaki sposób zagwarantować prawo do wychowania chrześcijańskiego w warunkach kultury cyfrowej oraz jakie obowiązki wynikają z tego prawa wiernych dla pasterzy Kościoła spełniających wobec nich misję głoszenia Ewangelii w warunkach kultury cyfrowej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem postulatu humanizacji języka.

    Rodzina chrześcijańska źródłem i przekazicielem kultury powołaniowej Budowanie i przekazywanie kultury powołania należy do podstawowych obowiązków rodziny chrześcijańskiej. Kultura powołaniowa obejmuje wszelkie działania wspierające dzieło przebudzenia powołań do kapłaństwa i życia konsekrowanego. Charakterystycznymi elementami tej kultury są: głęboka religijność, świadomość misji Kościoła i właściwa wizja powołania. Rodzina buduje i przekazuje kulturę powołania poprzez świadomy i konsekwentny proces formacji zgodnie z chrześcijańskimi wartościami i wzorcami zachowań. W ten sposób odpowiada na powszechne powołanie do miłości i świętości. Jest trafnie nazywana Domowym Kościołem, pierwszym seminarium i skarbnicą powołań. Świętość rodzin jest głównym warunkiem wzrostu i dojrzewania autentycznych powołań oraz najwłaściwszą odpowiedzią na współczesny kryzys kultury powołaniowej.
    Building and transmitting vocational culture is among the primary duties of the Christian family. Vocational culture is composed of all actions supporting the work of awakening vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. Characteristic elements of this culture are: deep religiosity, awareness of the Church mission and the correct vision of vocation. The family builds and transmits vocational culture through a conscious and consistent process of formation according to Christian values and models of behaviour. It thus answers the general call to love and holiness. It is aptly named the Home Church, the first seminary, and the treasury of vocations. The holiness of families is the main condition for the growth and maturation of authentic vocations, and the most appropriate answer to the modern crisis of vocational culture.

    In the present article the meaning of `education' is discussed from the position of pedagogy of culture and the values are pointed to that are realized by Stanisław Jachowicz (1796-1857) in Ćwiczenia pobożne rozwijające myśl (1857) – the highest, most important, most valuable values, that are a perfect model for Christian education. Hence, the structural analysis of Jachowicz's selected texts and their problems are discussed and their worldview, spiritual, ethical and cognitive values are pointed to; next, the kinds of utterances and the techniques used by the writer are shown in order to pronounce the fact that he professed Christian principles and wanted his readers to become pious, good people who would propagate the good. The analytical method is mainly used, and it is complemented with the method of statistical analysis, which allows discovering more deeply Jachowicz's pedagogical thought that, in the author's opinion, belongs to the so-called pedagogy of culture. It has been found that in the collection Jachowicz declares his adherence to the Catholic worldview and becomes its exponent and apologist. He emphasizes the greatness, omnipresence and uncommonness of God, at the same time teaching his readers to worship Him. This is done in various ways: he orders it, prays, and teaches. It has been calculated that as many as 91.5% of all the statements in the examined works worship God. Jachowicz also distinctly expresses spiritual values, such as man's contact with God; Christian virtues: faith, hope, trust, vocation and responsibility; struggle against evil; and man's participation in the salutary Passion of Redemption. Also another group is distinguished – that of ethical values (moral imperatives), like: honest work, piety, honor, respect for life, man's dignity, intellectual development, humility; as well as cognitive values containing the image of real world and man's activity, shaping the recipient's consciousness and teaching him to foresee the results of his actions and reasoning, expressing the care for human life marked with chastity, piety, unselfishness, continuously remembering about God and about eternal salvation. These values are expressed in three forms: order-appeal, prayer and direction (instruction). Also the techniques that are used and the kinds of statements have been examined in order to prove that orders having the informative-instructive, instructive, esthetic, captivating, instructive-captivating, and captivating-esthetic functions dominate. By means of them Jachowicz educates with the aim of respecting Christian values, calling for a fully happy life, united with God, for sainthood. It turns out that to this goal he also uses various kinds of prayer: adoration, request, imploration; and he utters evaluating statements – which has not been yet emphasized – as a priest with an intensive inner life. Hopefully the present article will allow pedagogues to make the young generation consciously and more profoundly make the discussed values come true in their lives. However, it must be added that the present article is the first result of studies on Stanisław of Dzików's literary output and it does not exhaust the issue; nevertheless the author hopes to meet the challenge in the future.
