    Opis:
    This article pertains to the matter of the division of powers in colonial era. The very important aspect is the impact of colonial sytem on further regulations of political statehood in US. It should be accentuated that this colonial pattern has been democratical in some measure and therefore this scheme has become the subject of this article. The Author focussed on the role of  a gouvernor, a legislative power and judiciary system in the first ages of existing of the English colonies in North America. Political status of these institutions and both their rights and duties have been analysed in detail for each particular colony.

    This article pertains to the first stage of a structure of American Federalism. American stathood, although characterised by a very durable Constitution, has changed according to the political and social circumstances. In consequence, it is very important to distinguish between various models that have been created since the English colonies had been established.  The very first stage – dual federalism – is here analised in terms of following aspects: influence of puritan and contractual thought, first confederations, federal and state relations and judicial decisions until the year of 1860.

    One of the important aspect of the development of the legislative power in the U.S. pertains to constitutional regulations of western states that had been created from 1791 till 1821: Vermont, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Indiana, Mississippi, Illinois, Alabama, Maine, Missouri. The following article consists of the description of selected supreme acts. The general remarks about the process of purchasing new territories, the term of election and sessions, legislative structure, who may be elected and rights of general assemblies are hereby briefly presented. These article has been written on the basis of original texts of constitutions that presently can be found on websites.

    One of the important aspects of the development of the executive power in the US is the constitutional regulations that were created between 1796 and 1819 in the Western States such as Tennessee, Louisiana, Indiana, Mississippi, Illinois and Alabama. The following article contains a description of selected supreme acts. Here are briefly presented the following: general remarks about the term and manner of governor election, his sessions as well as rights and responsibilities, the function of other officials such as the treasurer, secretary, recorder, sheriff, coroner, and the procedure of impeachment. The article was written on basis of original texts of constitutions that can be found on the Internet.

    Opis:
    The aim of the article is to present selected issues concerning legal aspects of functioning of a family in the British colonies in North America till 18th century. During that time, family law was under the influence of common law. The article provides an analyze of the most distinctive features of family status. As an introduction, authors highlight the problem of legal capacity and its limits. The issue of slavery and servants are also considered. The authors continue with a description of the ways of contracting a marriage. Common law influenced this area, which was not fully regulated by colonial documents. Hence, a mixed type of the procedural way to get married was the most popular. Moreover, there was not one unified age which allowed to marry. What is also interesting, is the fact that because of the lack of women, different ways of joining couples have arisen. Authors discuss also the colonial model of family which was generally patriarchal and hierarchical. There was also the institution of a master of family and selectmen whose main role was to protect normal functioning of a family. Furthermore, the article is also concerned with penal sanctions for violation of the good and peace of the family e.g. adultery and disobedience towards parents. In this area, a vide range of severe punishments was introduced, especially in New England which was under the influence of Puritans. However, children also had a right to compensation from parents, when they treated them extremely severely or refused to agree to marriage. Final remarks are about statutory and testamentary succession as well as a special status of widow in New York Charter of Liberties and Privileges. In order to present a vivid analysis and interesting distinctions, many source documents have been quoted in this article, e.g. from Louisiana, Massachusetts, Virginia, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania.
