Opis:
Preparation for participating in the Eucharist took place in the fourth and fifth centuries as part of pre-baptismal catechesis, and to a more degree as part of mystagogical catechesis which took place after baptism. A few of such catecheses have been preserved after saint Augustine. He preached them at Easter. In these catecheses he tried to make neophytes aware of the real presence of Christ in Bread and Wine. He justified it using biblical texts especially Christ’s statements about „the living bread”. The main task and duty of Christians was to wake up in the faith and receive the Eucharist worthily.

Opis:
Die licerarisch-kritische Analyse der Rede in Cäsarea ermöglichte festzustellen, dass ihr Verfasser viele Elemente (Schema, einzelne Formeln und Themen) aus der frühesten Tradition der Urgemeinde übernommen und treu weitergegeben hatte. Trotzdem blieb er ein echter Redaktor, d. h. auf diesem Grund hat er einige für ihn interessante theologische Ideen dargestellt. Vor allem wurde in der Rede die Führung Gottes hervorgehoben. Sie ist in der Sendung, Tätigkeit, Bestinmung und in dem Schicksal Jesu und dann weiter bei seinen Zeugen zu sehen. Diese Führung Gottes zielt eindeutig auf Übergebung des Heils an alle Menschen, Juden wie Heiden, hin. Damit wollte Lukas die heidenchristlichen Gemeinden des ausgehenden ersten Jahrhunderts wissen lassen, dass ihre heilsgeschichtliche Lage auf den Hillen Gottes zurückgeht und dass ihr Glaube im Glauben der Urgemeinde verwurzelt ist.

Opis:
Catechesis and religious education are two ways in which the ministry for the education for the faith is exercised, but within different physical contexts and with interlocutors coming from different backgrounds. Moreover, both catechesis and religious education share the same contents, which have been passed on to the interlocutors. This paper seeks to shed some light on the relationship between catechesis and religious education, in terms of their being distinct but at the same time complementary to each other. In this pursuit, we put forward arguments from both directions, those in favour of considering Catholic Religious Education and catechesis as identical and those viewing the two as distinct. The aim is to highlight the specific mission and role of each in education for the faith of the contemporary human being.

Opis:
Due to dynamic cultural changes and related religious transformation there are many attempts to create adequate system of Christian formation in Poland. Such formation should include both the teaching of religion in schools and catechesis realized in the parish. Teaching religion in schools is an irreplaceable form of catechesis, but should be complemented by a parish catechesis. Religious education should focus on the dialogue between faith and culture and above all strengthen the cognitive dimension of catechesis. The parish catechesis should place particular emphasis on Christian initiation and preparation for the sacraments. Only the complementary model of Christian formation involving religious education in school and catechesis in the parish gives hope for the effectiveness of formation.

In the times when fewer and fewer Christians grant the Church the right to interpret the Gospel in a manner obligatory for them, it is worth mentioning the science of great teachers of the Church who were capable of awakening the Evangelical enthusiasm in their listeners. It seems that St Ambrose from Milan’s proposals excellently correspond with the spiritual way of catechesis renewal proposed at the beginning of the 20“ century by Pope Benedict XVI. It consists in prudently facing a human being with high moral demands in order to build the community of faith. In his moral catechesis conceming the virtue of prudence, St Ambrose enumerated the principles of effective catechesis aimed at a secularized human being. Rediscovery of such inspirations may lead to an increase in the attractiveness of current catechetical message and in its Evangelical potential.

The author shows both how to accept the reply proposed by the new evangelization which challenges the present and how to carry it out as part of various catechetical activities of the Church in Poland. First, through the analysis of fundamental papal documents, he determines the character of the new evangelization. Then, he presents a reply of the new evangelization to contemporary problems with reference to Lineamenta prepared for the Synod of Bishops in 2012. He also explains how the catechesis can merge with the new evangelization, and analyses the tasks of catechesis, as described in the General Directory for Catechesis and adapted to Polish conditions.

Rozeznawanie znaków czasu i wypracowywanie na nie odpowiedzi jest podstawowym warunkiem skutecznej działalności katechetycznej Kościoła adresowanej szczególnie do ludzi młodych. Z tego względu podjęcie refleksji naukowej nad tym zagadnieniem wydaje się nie tylko zasadne, co wręcz konieczne. Na początku niniejszego artykułu przeprowadzono analizę znaczenia terminu „znaki czasu”. Następnie wskazano i scharakteryzowano te znaki czasu, które wydają się współcześnie najbardziej istotne dla szeroko pojętej katechezy. Zwieńczeniem refleksji jest z kolei próba wypracowania odpowiedzi na przedstawione problemy.
Recognizing the signs of the times and responding to them is the basic challenge for maintaining the effectiveness of the Church’s catechetical activity, especially that addressed to young people. Therefore, making a scientific reflection on this issue seems not only justified, but even compulsory. At the beginning of this article, the meaning and implications of the phrase “signs of the times” is analyzed. Then these signs of the times, at least those which seem most important today with regard to the broadly understood catechesis, are identified and characterized. The conclusion of the reflection represents some attempt to formulate and develop effective answers to the presented problems.

Explanation of Creed, known also as Symbolum, was an essential part of ca-techumen’s preparing for baptism in the ancient Church. Catechesis in the last weeks of the Lent were dedicated to that question. These catechesis were related to the solemn rites of traditio Symboli and redditio Symboli. Catechumens were obliged to remember Symbol but they could have neither put it down nor discussed it, nor even recited it. Some bishops forbade even to discuss about the catechesis. Catechumens were very often reminded to keep the secret, and this question was emphasized. In this article the duty of keeping the secret is analyzed in the context of disciplina aracni which was practiced in catechesis of 4th and 5th century.

The work of St. Augustine’s De catechizandis rudibus form the beginning of fifth century has still relevant guidelines for catechists. In a special way it relates to the content and methods geared towards people who are at the beginning of the Christian initiation. An analysis of the work of St. Augustine allows to specify the constitutive elements of the catechesis. These are: narratio as a story about great works of God, cohortatio as a call to Christian life and hilaritas as a joy accompanying catechesis. St. Augustine points out that the initial catechesis should begin form proclamation of God’s love expressed in history of salvation, especially its major events. Only if the participants of catechesis answer the love of God with faith it is possible to call them for a faithful Christian life. Each of these two elements of catechesis should be done with joy. All of the identified by St. Augustine elements of catechesis is also necessary in the contemporary Christian formation and should serve as an inspiration for today’s catechists.

The research goal the article was to present the ways of polemical fight of Cyril of Jerusalem in pre-baptismal catecheses given by him during the period of Lent. Catechumens, listening to catechetical speeches of their bishop, often learned about the existence of various theological misinterpretation. The Jerusalem shepherd noted at the beginning of his cycle of catecheses that he would pay attention to the heretical views. The bishop included an extensive description of the existing at that time false faith groups in one of the initial catechesis to sensitize the listeners to the spiritual evil introduced into their minds by heretics. The particular theological truths the bishop explained on the basis of the Articles of Faith contained in the so-called symbol of Jerusalem. In every consecutive teaching Cyril referred to these erroneous views that concerned the currently explained theological issue. Through their juxtaposition the listeners could better understand and at the same time distinguish the true interpretation of the faith from its misinterpretation. The bishop of Jerusalem turned out to be not only an outstanding theologian, but also a good polemicist, and an excellent teacher.

Nauczanie o judaizmie we współczesnej  katechezie młodzieży szkół ponadgimnazjalnych spełnia ważną rolę w dialogu chrześcijańsko-żydowskim. Pozwala katechizowanym zauważyć i zrozumieć wspólne korzenie chrześcijan i wyznawców religii Mojżeszowej. Przyczynia się do zmiany sposobu postrzegania mniejszości żydowskiej oraz okazywania szacunku i zrozumienia. Uzupełnia i integruje działania edukacyjne szkoły związane z edukacją o historii i tradycji Żydów. Stąd też nieuzasadnione wydaje się jedynie sporadyczne odwołanie do tej problematyki w dokumentach programowych katechezy młodzieży szkół ponadgimnazjalnych oraz w zgodnych z nimi seriach podręczników krakowskich i poznańskich. Braki te w przyszłości wymagają uzupełnienia. Warte uwagi i znaczące dla dialogu chrześcijańsko-żydowskiego są materiały „Lekcja religii” wydane przez Wydawnictwo „Święty Wojciech” przy współpracy z telewizją „Religia.tv.” W swych podstawowych założeniach mają one spełniać rolę środka dydaktycznego wspomagającego katechetów w przekazywaniu wiedzy o judaizmie oraz w kształtowaniu postawy dialogu i tolerancji. Ich skuteczność edukacyjną należałoby zweryfikować za pomocą badań empirycznych.
Teaching about Judaism in modern secondary school catechesis plays an important role in the Christian-Jewish dialogue. It helps the catechised to see and to understand the common roots of Christianity and Judaism. It contributes to a change in the way the Jewish minority is perceived and makes people adopt an attitude of respect and understanding towards Jews. It supplements and integrates educational activities of the school associated with Jewish history and tradition. Therefore, it seems unjustified that this subject matter is mentioned sporadically in the programme documents for secondary school catechesis and a series of handbooks published in Poznań and in Kraków. These deficits need to be eliminated. Materials entitled “Lekcja religii [Lesson of religion]” published by Wydawnictwo “Świety Wojciech” in collaboration with the “Religia.tv” television are noteworthy and significant to the Christian-Jewish dialogue. It is assumed that they are to aid religion teachers pass on knowledge on Judaism and to help students to develop an attitude of dialogue and tolerance. Their educational effectiveness should be verified by empirical studies.
Das Wissen über den Judaismus in der heutigen Katechese für die nachgymnasiale Jugend spielt eine wichtige Rolle im jüdisch-christlichen Dialog. Es hilft, dass die Schüler gemeinsame Wurzeln der Christen und der Anhänger der mosaischen Religion sehen und verstehen. Es trägt auch dazu bei, die Art und Weise, auf welche die jüdische Minderheit gesehen wird, zu verändern und ihr gegenüber Verständnis und Achtung zu zeigen. Es ergänzt und integriert die Erziehungsaktivitäten der Schule, welche mit der Bildung im Bereich der Geschichte und Tradition der Juden zusammenhängen. Daher muss man als ungenügend die nur sporadische Verweisung auf diese Problematik beurteilen in den programmatischen Dokumenten bezüglich der Katechese der nachgymnasialen Jugend sowie in ihnen entsprechenden Lehrbüchern von Krakau und Posen. Diese Mängel müssten in Zukunft beseitigt werden. Bemerkenswert und bedeutend für den jüdisch-christlichen Dialog sind dagegen die vom Verlag "Święty Wojciech" unter der Zusammenarbeit des Senders "Religia.tv" Lehrhilfen unter dem Titel "Religionsunterricht". Nach der Grundabsicht sollen sie ein didaktisches Hilfsmittel sein, das Katecheten bei der Weitergabe des Wissens über den Judaismus sowie der Haltung des Dialogs und der Toleranz unterstützt. Ihre Bildungseffizienz muss jedoch noch mit Hilfe der empirischen Untersuchungen geprüft werden.

Dyskryminacja katechetów przynależących do żeńskich i męskich zgromadzeń zakonnych - obecna co prawda w praktyce administracyjnej władz oświatowych już w pierwszej powojennej dekadzie - swoistego usankcjonowania przepisami prawa oświatowego doczekała się dopiero w okresie gomułkowskim. W katechetów zakonnych - których pracę wśród dzieci i młodzieży, komuniści traktowali jako poważną przeszkodę na drodze laicyzacji systemu oświaty i wychowania - wymierzone zostały przede wszystkim dwa akty normatywne ministerstwa oświaty: zarządzenie z dn. 4 sierpnia 1958 r. w sprawie nauczycieli religii, które pozbawiło osoby zakonne możliwości pracy katechetycznej na terenie szkoły oraz zarządzenie z dn. 19 sierpnia 1961 r. w sprawie prowadzenia punktów katechetycznych, stanowiące z kolei podstawę do odsunięcia zgromadzeń zakonnych od pozaszkolnego nauczania religii. Celowe działania o charakterze dyskryminującym, choć pozbawiły osoby zakonne prawa nauki religii w szkole, nie zdołały jednak całkowicie wyeliminować sióstr zakonnych i zakonników z katechizacji, prowadzonej - z punktu widzenia przepisów prawa oświatowego - nielegalnie w punktach katechetycznych.
Although the discrimination catechists belonging to male and female religious congregations had been presenting in administrative practice of the educational authorities in the first postwar decade, it was legitimized by the law of the educational during the reign of Wladyslaw Gomulka. The religious catechists (whose work with children and adolescents was treated by the Communists as a serious obstacle to the laicization of the school system and education) have been directed above all two legislative acts issued by the Ministry of Education: a) the ordinance dated August 4, 1958 concerning the teachers of religion - it deprived the religious possibility of working catchetic work in the school; b) and the ordinance dated August 19, 1961 concerning the conducting catechetic centers - it has become the legal basis for retraction religious congregations from extracurricular teaching of religion. Though intentionally discriminatory action deprived the consecrated persons rights of teaching religious in school, however were unable to completely eliminate nuns and monks from catechesis, which - from the point of view of educational law - was conducted illegally in catechetical centers.
