    Opis:
    A diocesan synod should be convened when deemed necessary by the diocesan bishop. In the Diocese of Rzeszów, which was set up in 1992 by Pope John Paul II, the synod was announced on November 21, 1998. The first session of the Synod of the Diocese of Rzeszów took place on March 24, 1999 and the solemn closure meeting on November 20, 2004. In a decree issued on that day, Kazimierz Górny, the Bishop of the Diocese of Rzeszów, approved the resolutions and announced them as the diocesan particular law. The resolutions of the synod became effective on January 19, 2005. The following article presents the rules of the particular law in regard to celebrating the sacrament of baptism, which is the “gate” to other sacraments, in the parishes of the Diocese of Rzeszów. The Church, which safeguards the deposit of sacraments, has the right to formulate the rules of their valid and respectful celebration. The author of this article discusses matters related to the baptism of children as well as adults. The article presents aspects related to the minister of the sacrament, parents and godparents, as well as the time and place of the celebration of baptism. It also refers to the “Instruction on celebrating the sacrament of baptism” which includes a lot of practical advice and pastoral suggestions for the ministers in order for the celebration of this sacrament to have influence on the formation of the religious life of the child’s parents, godparents and other related people. Following the common law norms, the Synod of the Diocese of Rzeszów highlights that priests should often remind their believers, both in the church and during the catechesis, about the meaning of this sacrament. It is necessary for salvation; through it the human being is freed from their sins and thus receives the dignity of the Child of God, becomes similar to Christ and gets included into the Catholic Church community. Priests should faithfully observe the liturgical regulations which set forth the way in which baptism should be celebrated, and respectfully treat other canonical norms. They are responsible for the correct documentation of this celebration by making a mandatory note in the parish book of the baptized.

    Opis:
    In 1836, the Bishop of Culm, Anastazy Sedlag, suggested to the Prussian authorities that the bishop seat be moved from Pelplin to Culm. The translocation was also meant to include diocese institutions in Pelplin. On the basis of his calculations, one can find that the creation of a diocese capital in Culm would cost 14,850 thalers less than the completion of construction and adaptation works in Pelplin. It should be noted that the translocation expenses amounted to 62,750 thalers. The twelve-year period of Pelplin functioning as the seat of bishops did not influence its economic growth. Priests employed in the diocese administration experienced numerous difficulties in access to food products and means of transport. The ministry of religious affairs, education and medicine rejected the above mentioned Bishop Sedlag`s plans. The decision was supported by the argument of the amount of capital invested in the adjustment of the infrastructure of Pelplin to the needs of diocese institutions. Besides, diocese construction funds had been almost used up by that time. However, a decision was made to create a post office in Pelplin, as well as to reconstruct selected stretches of roads.

    This is a collection of pastoral letters from Bishop Kazimierz Górny to the Diocese of Rzeszów during 1992−2011, which cover the varied roles and tasks of his ministry. In his letters, Bishop Rzeszowski asks for the intercession of Mary for the whole diocese and asks that they imitate Jesus in every action. Topics include the problems of raising children and young people who entrust in the Mother of God and concern for the development of religion in family life. He is grateful for the numerous testimonies of the clergy and their faith. Emphasis is also placed on patriotic values and the importance of the Homeland. He calls for conversion, which should embrace all, thanksgiving for the gift of the Incarnation of the Son of God and Redemption, and encourages sensitivity to the poor, the suffering and the rejected. The Ordinary urges you to listen to the Word of God which brings light and hope and encourages holiness. All the pastoral letters encourage self-esteem and express concern for man, especially those who lose their way in life, are weak and are suffering.

    The Synod of the Diocese of Rzeszów, the Synod of the Archdiocese of Poznań, the Parish Economic Council, the Code of Canon Law, parish, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, Bishop Kazimierz Górny, the role of the laity in the life of the Church
    Opis:
    In the light of the current Code of Canon Law, according to Cann. 537, the parish priest is obliged to appoint the parish economic council whose responsibility is to abide by both the common law and the regulations issued by the bishop of the diocese. This paper presents and discusses the current charter of the Parish Economic Council of the Archdiocese of Poznań which was approved on February 20, 2007 by Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Poznań. It is not clear why the Synod of the Diocese of Rzeszów does not mention the idea of the parish economic council. There is no information on the charter of the parish economic council among the charters approved by the Synod. The Canon law, both common and particular, stresses that the parish economic council is a body providing advisory and support services to the parish priests in administering the parish resources. The council consists of 3 to 7 members depending on the size of the parish, and its term of office lasts 4 years. At the same time, it is important to mention that the only legal representative of the parish in terms of the governance of its resources is the parish priest and he is the only person that can make valid decisions in this respect.

    Opis:
    Human being has always been a religious being and faith, regardless of its form, has not only obliged them to bury the dead, but also to protect their remains from being destroyed by animals or other human beings. In its regulations, the current Code of the Canon Law does not directly speak about the exhumation. However, exhumation is referred to in a variety of legal regulations issued by the particular church in the form of instructions issued by some of the Polish dioceses, as well as regulations provided by the administrators of particular denominational cemeteries. While speaking about exhumation, it is important to stress that in the light of the canon law it mainly takes place during the beatification process and is a requirement of the canonization law which should happen during that process in the diocese or before the beatification of the servant of God. In conclusion, it is important to highlight that the Catholic Church respects and refers to the civil law while setting the norms in regards to when and why the exhumation should be conducted.

    In the years 1938-1963, Fr. Dr. Czesław Kaczmarek was the Ordinary of the Kielce diocese, whose Miechów deanery is located in the Krakow area. His pastoral care for the diocese was at an extremely difficult time – the Second World War and the communist period in Poland. After being released from a prison term which was the result of the proceedings taken by the communist apparatus of the PZPR, and with his final return to Kielce in 1957, the church hierarchy was constantly under surveillance and perceived as the enemy of communism. Every step and every word of the bishop was diligently recorded by the security apparatus and reported to superiors. From archival reports of the security services kept at the Institute of National Remembrance come three documents from 1961 concerning Bishop Kaczmarek’s time in Miechów, which are edited in this article. On the one hand, there emerges from them the straightforwardness and genuine concern of the bishop for his particular church, and on the other, the ruthlessness of the communist apparatus of repression and the strenuous struggle for the atheization of the Polish nation and the efforts to subordinate the Catholic Church to the totalitarian ideology of Marxism-Leninism.

    The subject of this presentation is to present the apologetic face of the First Bishop of Rzeszów, Kazimierz Górny, on the basis of selected pastoral letters, conferences and sermons. The above presentation highlights the apologetic face of Bishop Kazimierz Górny, who, being a defender of the human person, the Church, the principles of Catholic faith and morality, and patriotic values, is at the same time a man of dialogue and consensus. Steadfast in the principled matters of God, he remains always open and cordial towards every human being. He is especially sensitive to people who are poor, sick, lost or who are looking for God. The apologetic face of Bishop Kazimierz shown does not exhaust the beauty of his person and the richness of his personality. It is worth emphasizing that we can see His apologetic face not only in His teaching - as presented above - but also in the attitude to life, i.e. the testimony of life, and especially in the sensitivity of the heart, Christian joy and a cordial smile, which is the simplest way to the heart of every human being.

    After the systemic changes in Poland, the possibility of full normalization of the administrative division of the Church in Poland was born. In addition, it was favored by the pontificate of John Paul II, well-versed in the civil and ecclesial Polish reality, the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Holy See and the resumption of the apostolic nunciature in Warsaw. Over half a year of preparation, the bull “Totutus Tuus Poloniae populus” was sanctioned on March 25, 1992, which referred to, among others, Diocese of Rzeszów. Although the attempts to set up such a unit were made in 1900 and later in 1920 and 1924, John Paul II's personal decision to set up a diocese based in Rzeszów.
