Opis:: The above article presents the concepts of holiness developed in the patristic period by the Church Fathers and early Christian writers. Ancient Christianity has not worked out one specific model of holiness. Attempts of this kind of unification in the Western Church did not appear until the time of the scholastic theology and medieval legal theology of canonization. For patristic theology only God is holy in the full and the only sense, the holiness of a man and the things is a derivative of a relationship to this fundamental source of holiness. The article consists of two major parts: in the first – Indications of holiness – different meanings of holiness and realities referred as holy by early Christian writers have been presented. In the second part – The ways to holiness – five, the most common in the writings of the Church Fathers, concepts of holiness and sanctification of man were presented, among which we can distinguish: a deification of man, man’s sanctification in the Holy Spirit, the sanctification of man in grace, the perfection and holiness of man as a model of life promoted by the Church. To understand modern understanding of holiness and to present as a whole the issue of holiness one must consult the Tradition of the Church in the first centuries, and the writers who not only wrote about holiness, but in many cases they have become saints.

Opis:: Calling is a gift from God and a mystery, it realizes in a reality of faith, which enables human to have a conversation with God – Holy Trinity, which continuously – Creates, Rescues – and Sanctifies – which, with a new dynamism, allows to realize an evangelic message, which, as sine qua non condition, is an integral part of every calling. Marriage – a family, is a “God’s atom”, whose energy – sacramental grace – is a reality capable of constant renewing of the face of this basic, even fundamental human community, which is family, society – to finally change the face of earth. Among the challenges and problems, which marriage and family may encounter nowadays, especially evil ideologies, which not only have doubt in calling for marriage and family, but even question them and their miraculous and natural origin coming from The Creator’s plan, the need for non-ambiguous testimony of married couple and family to the world, as well as understanding, the gifts of calling and spreading the message, is becoming a more and more burning desire. In the pastoral year, in which we consider the topic “Filled with Holy Spirit”, being open for His gifts, charisms, and full of hope for yet appearing fruits, the pastoral and evangelic challenges should be undertaken, together with those challenges, which stay in the lively dialogue with Paraclete, striving for realization of the tasks coming from life, so called Christian calling and spreading the message.

shepherd’s love, the teacher of religious education, priest’s holiness, love of Church
Opis:: The term of shepherd’s love was discussed in this article in the context of a priest’s mission as the teacher of religious education. The shepherd’s love understood as the Holy Ghost’s gift is the source of the priest’s love towards Jesus Christ, Church and its community as well as towards the school society. Only the priest who is in love with the Eucharist can cherish the presbytery he belongs to and the people to whom he is appointed as their shepherd and teacher. The shepherd’s love is the source of the priest's holiness and the fruit of a prayer and a gift which the priest devotes to children and teenagers as their teacher of religious education. It lies in the bases of the priest's formation and is a very essential element of the process of catechizing the younger generation.

Opis:: Similarly as in the whole theology of J. Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, the primacy of God constitutes a starting point also in ecclesiology. And it is only through this hermeneutic key that we are able to properly read communio ecclesiology – the most characteristic and original element of Ratzinger’s teaching on the Church. Its deepest source is the communion of God and man, fulfilling itself to the richest extent in the Person of Jesus Christ – God-Man. Communio of the Church means co-participation with Christ; the Church is not ours, it belongs to God. We shall perceive the universality and holiness of the Church or Christian brotherhood from this perspective. The saving universalism of the Church does not depend on alleged openness of the community (flexibility, adaptability, susceptibility to change), yet it results from the God’s plan we all contribute to, not through “improving” church structures, according to our own and casual valuation, but through deepening our faith, conversion, confidence towards God’s presence inside the Church and surrender to Him.
