Opis:
The bar or net screens are ones of the methods to increase protection level of military vehicle crews against antitank grenades fired from RPG-7. Their task is to prevent generation of the shaped charge jet. The probability of vehicle's protection level when applying such types of screens depends on their structure - percentage share of the open space, i.e. space for which the flying grenade will not touch the structure element with its fuse, but it will be destructed. The two mechanisms are here mainly used: short circuit in the fuse circuit, deformation of conical section of the shaped charge warhead. This article presents analysis of structure of the bar and net screens due to share of the open space, for various impact angle of grenade in elevation and azimuth. The following were changed: thickness and width of bars and distance between them, thickness of wire and shape of individual net mesh. The solution of bar screen with the lowest weight and grenade destruction ability was selected. This solution was compared with the net screen offered currently on the market For the selected solutions, for angles increasing in elevation, up to 300 value, the bar screen has the larger open space than net screen. For angles in azimuth, the bar screen has larger open space for the entire range of angles. The bar screen is heavier by 50-60% when compared to the selected net screens, but their operation costs are lower. They are repaired in field conditions

Opis:
Shock absorber with cylindrical actuator is a new concept of integrated damper with floating device, in international patent application PCT/EP2016/061515, with wide application in road, rail and aerial vehicles. Comparative to the known solution with rubber sleeves or bellows, the new one is capable to work at more increased pressure being more compact and due to metallic cylinder is more reliable. The other important advantage consists of it applicability at any kind of shock absorber without any special preparation, the solution consisting of replacing the dust shield with a pneumatic cylinder sealed against rod with a gasket and sliding closed in the lower part by sealing element/s fitted in trough/troughs practiced in an annular body fastened against the outer cylinder. For a better behaviour the patent application contains and solutions with double sliding sealing working at high pressure and thus assuring enough floating forces to sustain the vehicle without standard metallic spring so it can be utilized successfully in aerial vehicles landing gear. By using displacement and pressure transducers and equipment of control and command, it becomes an active suspension. The paper presents the double sliding sealing solution and demonstrates, by simulation the advantages confer by this new solution of shock absorber with cylindrical actuator in landing gear. This purpose was realized a virtual suspension model on which simulated hard landing for vehicle load and unload states, for different pneumatic spring preloaded forces.

Opis:
This paper considers the results of studies on examination methods in scope of environmental protection such as exhaust emission, fuel consumption and noise emission. The reduction of exhaust gas emission of modern compression and spark ignition engines requires an optimization ofexisting diagnosing methods as well as the investigation of new approaches. The results of car inspections regarding environmental protection for more than four thousand vehicles have been compared to the requirements of ECE regulations and those of particular car producers. Eight hundred cars with a fault of gas emission and fuel consumption were examined in order to define typical damages. The possibilities of diagnosing the damages of mechanical and electrical systems of the engine have been carried out using electrical value measurements and exhaust gases analysis. The test results show that there is a necessity of elaborating new diagnosing methods enabling to find damages regarding exhaust emission and fuel consumption at their initial stage. One of the possible methods which could be applied is the evaluation of the quality of combustion process considering the values of parameters of engine performance coming from the detectors mounted to the engine. The so far carried out examinations have revealed that some mechanical damages of engines such as operating wear or unexpected faults do not make the diagnosing system react to the information.

Opis:
Landmines and improvised explosive devices (IED) are the basic weapon used by the rebels against the Coalition forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. It is estimated that about 50% of the casualties (wounded and killed) among the soldiers from the US and other countries participating in both conflicts are caused by explosive charge. Introduction of vehicles providing proper protection of the crew against an explosive shock wave generated by a detonation of mines and improvised explosive devices into the arsenal has become one of the priorities of modernization of armed forceps. The parameters critical to the emerging of a hazard for the surrounding includes the overpressure impulse and the shock wave overpressure. The problem of defining the parameters of an explosive shock wave generated after detonation of charges of various mass, shape and physical-chemical properties is a subject of studies at much scientific institution. The gained quantitative data are not, however, published in public reports, thus a need of performing one’s own experimental and numeric research arise. The goal of these studies is to find solutions increasing soldier’s safety at the battlefield. The paper presents an analysis of impact of a shock wave onto structures of military vehicle. Furthermore, methods of experimental definition of explosion shock wave parameters were presented and conclusions for the needs of further experimental-numerical studies were formulated.

Opis:
Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) personnel are being subjected to high ambient temperatures, humidity and radiant heat loads for hours during deployments in the hot dry desert or warm humid tropical environment. The heat stress is even worst while operating the AFV in Nuclear Biological & Chemical (NBC) Protection mode. Maintaining crew 's physical and cognitive performance amidst all of the stressors of the battlefield is a huge tash. However, if the heat stress imposed by exposure to the climatic extremes of the environment can be controlled with the use of a microclimate cooling system then this allows the soldiers to remain focused on other critical tasks. Life Support System (LSS) is an integrated Microclimate and/or Individual Crew Cooling System (ICCS) integrated with NBC Protection system. The use of LSS or LSS that is complimented by Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) on modern AFVs ensures to the mounted soldiers the ability to maintain safe body temperature. This session will discuss the efficiency of LSS and LSS-APU on AFYs.
