Opis:
The main aim of the paper is to present a developed methodology of simulation of the energy efficiency of a selected energy storage unit. The authors focused their actions on batteries that could be the base for an energy storage system possible to apply in a modernized hybrid-shunting locomotive. Three different nickel-cadmium batteries were selected as representatives for the study. Simulation was focused on repeated cycles of charging and discharging the batteries. The simulation model generally consists of three main components: a specified load cycle, a dynamic model of the DC electrical machine and a model of the Ni-Cd battery. The input data for the battery model is based mostly on the parameters provided by the manufacturer data sheets. However, an internal resistance had to be measured for each battery. Conducted simulations provided information about the electromotive force, state of charge, an average efficiency of the battery, as well as the temperature changes during the cycle. The proposed approach to the battery simulation can be also applied for the loading cycles similar to those that occur during the actual operation of the locomotive. The current study is a part of the project focused on modernization of the diesel-electric shunting locomotive to the hybrid one.

Opis:
Ships' propulsion plant usually works in a hard environment caused by static forces and permanent dynamic loads. Exciding of tolerated values of shaft alignments causes a damage of radial and thrust bearings in relative short time. Modelling of dynamical reactions could bring information to the designer for recognizing the level of hazard for propulsion system. Knowledge of a character of dynamic loading which affects ship shaft line can make it possible to identify potential failures by means of on-line vibration measuring systems. This way elimination of costly and time-consuming overhauls on dock leads to lowering operational costs and increasing ship fighting merits. A paper presents a proposal of identification of a degree of hazard to ship shaft line due to forces of shafts misalignment. A theoretical analysis was made of influence of changes in co - axiality of shafts resulting from elastic deformations of hull structure in vicinity of shaft bearing foundations. The main problem of naval vessels is a lack of dynamical requirements of stiffness of the hull. Modelled signals were recognized within sensitive symptoms of two sub models: model of propulsion system and model of shaft's misalignment. Both sub models allow testing forces and their responses in vibration spectrum using SIMULINK software.

Opis:
Cogeneration systems using a Stirling engine [2] are currently being developed and promoted by the European Union [1]. On the other hand, the EU climatic package obligates Polish energy producers to buy 100% CO2 emission rights from 2020 onwards. At that time, according to the experts a ton of CO2 could reach the price of 63.5 Euro. Attention is drawn to the fact that it is only then that nuclear power plants will become profitable, in the same way as wind power plants. This could result in substantial growth of energy prices, both for the economy and for households [3]. The paper presents the experimental research of a cogeneration system with a one-way Alpha type Stirling engine. The impact of the upper heat source and the type of working gas (helium and nitrogen) on the load capacity of the cogeneration system was studied. Based on a Sankey diagram, the power spread of the cogeneration system was analysed. On the basis of experimental research, a model was created of a cogeneration system consisting of the following submodels: Stirling engine of the second order, belt transmission, electric motor and an electrochemical battery. The Stirling engine was installed in a testbed, in the mechatronic lab at the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering (SIMR) of Warsaw University of Technology. Furthermore, the impact of regenerator efficiency on the efficiency of the Stirling Engine was examined, which in turns impacts the efficiency of the entire cogeneration system.

Opis:
This paper presents the experimental research and simulating results of a ZM130 hydrodynamic torque converter under steady and unsteady working conditions with an external step signal and sinus on turbine’s shaft on a modified test bench. The mathematical model of torque converter was described by the one-dimensional flow theory with variable loss coefficients. The character of received equations from test bend showed by linearized transmittance functions with variable coefficients. For test bend object identification researches will be used an Identification Toolbox from a mathematical code in Matlab, which enables to create transfer functions as a linear model from measurements data as they got the highest correctness level with input signal (as they get the best correction level with input signal on the pump´s shaft). This mathematical model for dynamic loads will be verified by experimental tests. The aim of the carried out studies was determination the effect of sampling time decreasing on the quality of measured parameters. Results of present investigations were compared with those obtained earlier, but for the same input signals .It is possible to affirm that proposed theoretical model imitates the change of dynamic parameters, and the same the property of the torque converter. Researches led on the test bend with extortion input torque sinus signal on the turbine’s shaft confirmed correctness of this model.

Opis:
In this article we present a simplified model of centre differential control. At the beginning, the introduction highlights important role of center differential control and tests carried out using mathematical models. This work contains the full development of a model, consisting of: the equations which describe the vehicle, the structure of the model, important values and parameters used in the simulation. All these components allow you to expand an existing model, thus is not necessary to create it from the beginning. It presents detailed equations which were realized by a simulation model with a simplified block diagram illustrating the structure of the model and on the next the full structure. Then a concept of a simplified torque of split control system was described and which will be continue as the basis for the simulation model. The action of the control system is presented by the simulation model implemented in Matlab Simulink. Model refers to a linear motion in different road conditions and using the control of centre differential. In the following defines the parameters and data used in the model and the fifth chapter contains sample waveforms of model variables along with their brief description. The last two points are synthetic applications and supporting literature.
