The engine-compressors GMVH types are used in the national gas transmission system in Poland. There is a danger of scuffing of the working components of the engine-compressor particular pistons and cylinders during the process of their exploitation. The growth of resistance in motion parts of the machine is the main symptom of the scuffing. In the cinematic system of the engine-compressor where the engine and compressor are fully mechanically integrated it is impossible to assess the power of mechanical friction without stopping the machine. But if the engine-compressor is equipped with a cylinder pressure measuring system it is possible to determine the indicated power of all compressor and engine cylinders and assess the friction losses as a difference between the sum of the engine 's cylinder s indicated power and the sum of the compressor's cylinders indicated power. In the differential measurements of absolute values measuring errors are accumulated so considerable uncertainty of the measured parameter is expected. The accuracy of the friction power losses assessment method is not sufficient for research purposes. However, despite the expected significant errors, assessed parameters trends observation should allow to detect ofrapid changes of machine technical condition caused by piton scuffing. To ensure the sense of this method a precise measurements and in particular the error consistency of indicated pressure assessment of all cylinders in long time period are necessary. The experience from engine-compressors monitoring and diagnostic system services, the main sources of errors and methods for their minimization are described in the paper.

The paper deals with the measurement preparation for the exhaust gases measurement. The measurement is carried out within the project of basic research. The aim of the project is the research of the influence of an unconventional charging intercooling on the selected ecological and economical parameters of a turbocharged compression ignition internal combustion engine in the specific operational conditions. The paper gives the information about the types, numbers, specification and position of the sensors used. The measuring scheme with the connection of sensors and connector blocks is also shown. The details about the single parts of the measuring chain are given. The paper also shows the view on the sensors through the photographs. Some results from a testing measurement are also shown and the results from the selected sensors can be compared. The two different intercoolers are used for charging air cooling. The first intercooler is the air/air type equipped with a ventilator, the second intercooler is the water/air type without a ventilator. The total displacement of an engine is 7.61. The measurement itself is aimed mainly to acquire information regarding the influence of the low temperatures of charging on the amount of NOx. Also the influence on the amount of particulate matter is examined through the mentioned measurement.

The paper is focusing on selected problems of health monitoring of tall type buildings. The actual problem in structural health monitoring (SHM) is to find the damages and its location by performing some statistical pattern recognition based on the measured data termed as feature extraction. The damage caused by environmental loads should be repaired; otherwise, it will expand with time and might lead to complete system failure. Dynamic parameters, such as velocity, acceleration and displacement, play a significant role in determining the structure dynamics. This paper is focusing on smart wireless sensors application into health monitoring systems of tall type buildings operating into hazardous environment and selected methods for data analysis obtained from the monitoring system. Smart sensors can locally process measured data and transmit only the significant information via wireless communication. As a network, wireless sensors extend the capability. Significant future developments of smart wireless sensors technology in tall type buildings in hazardous environment come by way of multi-disciplinary research efforts encompassing fields such as data analysing, signal processing, structural dynamics, motion and environmental sensing hardware, computational hardware, smart materials, data telemetry and statistical pattern recognition, as well as other fields yet to be defined. Specification issues that require automation of the decision making process in the evaluation of the technical state of the tall type structure have been also discussed.

Opis:
Modern way of machines' exploitation, due to their high level of constructional complication, requires certain level of supervising. That supervising is generally reduced to detection of pre-failure states and evaluation of machines’ single elements or components condition. In the frame of development of the research capacity of the Mechanical Faculty of Maritime Academy in Gdynia, has been developed the Exploitation Decision Aid System for marine engines exploitation, based on existing test bed with the marine diesel engine Sulzer AL 25/30. Modernization of the engine, significantly extended research and measurement capacity, what has resulted with improvement of quality, extension of the span, and acceleration of carried out research and development works in the domain of safety of exploitation and diagnostics of marine power plants. Above stated investments enables also an extension of the range of research and expertise related to engines' failures and exhaust gases emission pollution, in relation to broad spectrum of implemented fuels. The goal has been achieved in the way of the test equipment modernization including: effective pressure sensors, high pressure fuel sensors, monitoring and visualization of the engine systems' parameters, electronic indictors adopted to continuous operation at all cylinders in the same time, and high class decision aid computer equipment.

Pay particular attention to electrical and network parameters of the standard, that was frequent avoid in articles. Author performed restrictions and standard topologies utilize on CAN bus network. The build of two obligatory CAN bus' frames was performed in details; ISO11898 and ISO11519 with the possibility and requirement, relate to mentions, is being performed. The way of sending messages for diagnostic and recessive frames and algorithm of existence recessive messages is been described. The last part of the article describes most popular Philips and Realtec chips. They enable to convert CAN protocol into Ethernet network that is the most popular standard in local area network. That conversion will be next necessary step in nowadays on- board diagnosis' develop. On board diagnosis of automotive vehicle is going to self - reliance of decision circuits. The most probably is independent decision of diagnostic and prediagnostic decision circuit in form of processor takes steps to contact with service. Therefore it must be equip in transform' circuit to another standards - into Ethernet.
Artykuł zawiera omówienie standardu magistrali CAN, która od 2008 roku jest obligatoryjnym standardem w każdym nowo wyprodukowanym pojeździe samochodowym. Omówiona została historia standardu jego rozwój i możliwości dalszej ewolucji. Zwrócono szczególną uwagę na elektryczne i sieciowe parametry standardu, najczęściej pomijane w literaturze. Autor przedstawił ograniczenia i standardowe topologie sieci, wykorzystywane w magistrali CAN. Szczegółowo omówiona została budowa ramki dwóch standardów, obowiązujących w CAN; ISO11898 oraz ISO1151; ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem możliwości i wymagań, dotyczących wymienionych standardów. Przedstawiono sposób przekazywania wiadomości przez ramki diagnostyczne i recesywne, a także algorytm powstawania wiadomości recesywnej. Ostatnia część artykułu opisuje najpopularniejsze układy scalone firmy Philips oraz Realtec. Umożliwiają one konwersję protokołu CAN w sieć Ethernet, będącej obecnie najpopularniejszym standardem w lokalnych sieciach komputerowych. Taka konwersja wydaje się być kolejnym, koniecznym krokiem w rozwoju współczesnej diagnostyki pokładowej pojazdów samochodowych. Diagnostyka pokładowa pojazdów samochodowych zmierza do usamodzielnienia się układów decyzyjnych. Wielce prawdopodobne wydaje się, że poprzez diagnostykę i prediagnostykę, układ decyzyjny w postaci procesora sam podejmie decyzję o kontakcie z serwisem. Tym samym będzie musiał być wyposażony w układ transformujący do innych standardów w tym - Ethernet.

The article discusses the examples of fire causes in the military vehicles and the consequences they may cause in the military vehicles. It has been observed that the frequent cause for the damage of military vehicles and loss of crew health and life is not the direct impact with the missile, but fires caused e.g. by impact with a missile, mines and firing bottles actions. Therefore, there is the need to use firefighting systems in the military vehicles. The development of the firefighting systems earmarked for the military vehicles has been presented. The contemporary construction solutions for the firefighting system earmarked for the motor and combat departments, as well as selected external parts of the military vehicles as well as basic conditions influencing the firefighting systems of various purposed have been discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of halons used previously as basic extinguishing means, current legal restriction concerning the halon use as well as potential halon equivalents to extinguish fires in the military vehicles have been discussed. The new extinguishing equipment, the means of which will not have negative impact on the crew, vehicle and natural environment – in particular in terms of destroying ozone layer and causing greenhouse effect will require checking the correctness of their functioning, the extinguishing effectiveness and the impact on the natural environment. The testing of the firefighting systems for military vehicles has been already conduced in the Military Institute of Armoured and Automotive Technology in Sulejówek.

The paper analyzes the factors influencing the quantity and quality of diagnostic information obtained by engine indication with electronic indicators and pressures analyzers. Amount of information obtained virtually unchanged since the advent of the first construction pressure analyzers produced by Autronica and ABB Company. In many cases, the value of the maximum combustion and compression pressures, can be measured using these devices with sufficient accuracy and reliability, is if ignition occurs after piston TDC. Determination of the mean indicated pressure, compression ratio and heat release characteristics required to develop a method of TDC determination on the indicator diagrams, generate reliable angular axes in real time and pressure sensors of sufficient accuracy. It should be noted that in the latest solution of ABB system, a correction of thermodynamic loss angle and combustion pressure sensors of high accuracy were introduced. For marine diesel engines diagnosis, the pressure sensor measuring sustainability is important because of the ability to create trends of specific diagnostic parameters, which may constitute an additional, important source of diagnostic information. The paper presents an overview of currently available pressure sensors that can be used during marine engines indication. Most important issues related to the pressure measurement on indicator valves were characterized. An assessment of the gas channels and the quality of the angular axis impact for the parameters of indicator graphs was done.

The presented article is devoted to the problem of detection and localization of damages occurring in components of structures, which are made of hybrid composite materials. The subject of the work is a square plate consisting of a single layer made of aluminum alloy and several layers made of glass fibres (glass fabric) and epoxy resin. On the surface, which is made of composite, 12 piezoelectric elements are installed. These elements sequentially, one by one, generates a signal that is further recorded by the remaining piezoelectric elements. Picked up signal for the selected pair of activator – sensor is compared with the reference signal. The reference signal corresponds to the intact structure. This kind of approach is known as the pitch – catch configuration. In situations when the signal obtained for interrogated structure and reference one differs significantly, this may indicate that a damage exists between the activator and the sensor. Next, taking into account the information obtained from the other sensors, it is possible not only to detect but also to determine the approximate location of the flaw and to estimate its size. In order to visualize the obtained results, an especially dedicated software is developed according to the algorithms available in the literature – probability ellipse. Several computer simulations of wave propagation are performed using the finite element method. The proposed procedure is also tested experimentally. The presented approach makes it possible to detect both single and multiple damages.

This article shows electronic block structure and individual elements of the cordless inspecting vehicle to air ducts. Modern electronics in the robot is first of all efflciency, fast, 32-bits the processor, radio steering, the cordless, color camera and sensor s measuring all essential parameters in an air duet. Additionally, sensor s of environmental conditions were applied (the temperature, the humidity and detecting thepresence of gas). Processor control administrative elements by entrance keys. Administrative elements are electric engines: chassis, ann, camera tripod and helping vertical wheel. Expect engines processor also switch on buzzer, LED light and halogen. Cordless camera with microphone is independent district reinforced only from robot accumulator. Built robot „ the Inspector l" is a competitive solution to industrial robots of this type applied in the industry. The equipment of environmental sensors delivers to the operator information on conditions occurring in the pipe (temperature, moisture, presence ofv gas, air flow direction, beam intensity etc.). Especially, block scheme of the inspecting system "Inspector l ", block scheme of the operational panel of the system "Inspector l", sensor of the flow and direction of air are presented in the paper.
W artykule przedstawiono i omówiono elektroniczną strukturę blokową oraz poszczególne elementy bezprzewodowego pojazdu inspekcyjnego do przewodów wentylacyjnych. Nowoczesna elektronika robota to przede wszystkim wydajny, szybki, 32-bitowy procesor, radiowe sterowanie, bezprzewodowa, kolorowa kamera oraz czujniki mierzące wszystkie niezbędne parametry w kanale wentylacyjnym. Dodatkowo, zastosowano czujniki warunków środowiskowych (temperatura, wilgotność oraz wykrywanie obecności gazu).Procesor steruje elementami wykonawczymi za pomocą kluczy wyjściowych. Elementami wykonawczymi są w większości silniki elektryczne: podwozia, ramienia, pozycjonera kamery i wspomagającego koła pionowego. Oprócz silników, procesor zalącza buzzer oraz oświetlenie LED i halogen. Bezprzewodowa kamera z mikrofonem jest obwodem niezależnym jedynie zasilanym z akumulatora robota. Budowany robot ,,Inspektor l" wyposażony w wiele nowoczesnych podzespołów elektronicznych oraz nowatorskich rozwiązań konstrukcyjnych stanowi wyśmienite narzędzie do inspekcji i czyszczenia kanałów wentylacyjnych. Jest on jednocześnie rozwiązaniem konkurencyjnym do fabrycznych robotów tego typu stosowanych w przemyśle.

Opis:
Provision of well-being in rooms is associated with their good ventilation. Good ventilation is influenced by cleanliness of ventilation ducts. The article presents a drive-by-wire version of a mobile inspection robot for ventilation ducts. A handler, which is movable in three axes and ended with a grab, a supporting vertical wheel (to reduce wheel skid) as well as a colour camera, a distance sensor and two light sources (LED and halogen lamp) on a rotary platform have been placed on a circular chassis. Apart from performing the inspection function, the operator of the "Inspector 1" robot may remove bigger pieces of dirt and garbage from a ventilation shaft using the handler and the grab. The device is powered from a 12 V / 5 Ah battery. A robot controlled using a control panel allows accurate illumination of the internal walls of the duct and wireless transmission of a colour image to the operator's monitor. The rotary platform on which the camera with lighting is placed is also capable of tilting up and down. The robot's drive has been resolved in a way that makes it as manoeuvrable as possible. Two front drive wheels operate independently and two rear wheels are easy-running. The robot will also allow recording the following environmental parameters in the ventilation shaft: humidity, temperature, draught force and direction and the presence of gases. The entire robot's electronic system is based on battery-powered supply (12V/5Ah) which is sufficient for approx. two hours of continuous operation. The voltage of the battery is constantly monitored and should it drop.

In this paper the active method of three way catalyst monitoring by use of wideband combustion mixture composition sensor was described. This method relays on three way catalyst activity decrease by determination of it oxygen capacity decrease monitoring. Determination of catalyst oxygen capacity decrease was done by comparison of signals from wideband and binary combustion mixture composition sensors. These sensors were mounted before and after investigated catalyst. In this paper was described the test bench in which modified catalyst was used. The catalyst was modified to simulate it activity decrease. Paper contains the investigation procedure and also static and dynamic characteristics of wideband combustion mixture composition sensor. A hand of received results the characteristic of binary combustion mixture composition sensor reaction time on combustion mixture change in function of reactor activity was determinate. From received results the index of reactor oxygen capacity decrease was also determinate. Received results showed also that this method can be used for precise controlling of three way catalysts activity for on board diagnostic systems purposes. Additionally this method allows concluding on toxic gases emission in NEDC tests at steady state engine work cycle.
