Opis:
The paper describes results of research on heavy vehicle tyre with Run Flat VFI insert. The experiment has included the determination of heat generation, rolling resistance, and radial stiffness of two different tyre designs (textile and steel carcass). The results have been used for the purpose of evaluation of tyre operating characteristics. The study included research on non-inflated tyre properties. The purpose of the paper is to determine characteristics of the tyres equipped with inserts, which are essential for driving wheeled APCs. The inserts are composed of polymer rings mounted on the rims inside the tyres. If the inflation pressure of the tyre is very low or if there is no inflation pressure at all, the ring transfers the loads imposed on the tyre to the rim. Usually in such a case, there is a contact of the ring and inner surface of the tyre tread area. Laboratory facility for surveys of heavy vehicles tyres, summary characteristics of radial stiffness and hysteresis of test tyres, temperature distribution on the external surface of the test tyre, comparison of radial characteristics of the tyres tested, example of stiffness characteristics, distribution of temperature on the side of tyre during the road test and carcass damages on the flat tyre are presented in the paper.

Opis:
At idle run the engine operates in extremely unfavourable conditions because of vibrations generated by cyclic forces which makes that oil film parameters on liner surface become critical as well. This paper presents one of the crankshaft vibrations results namely the speed that differs from a generally known dependence described with two harmonics rco sin less than p and 1/2Xrco sin2 less than p. Taking into consideration the deterioration of oil film - the thickness in particular - at low idle speed, a further speed decrease could cause the oil film rupture. This means that in the case of piston-cylinder assembly elements the process of abrasive wear occurs first of all at idle run. Avoiding such situations lead to a considerable extension of engine life. The minimum piston speed outside both dead centres could be increased by the rise in idle run speed. Unfortunately, this leads to an increase in fuel consumption, e.g. when waiting for a green light in urban traffic. The only way to improve the oil film parameters at idle run is to improve the engine speed irregularity level 8. Certain possibilities in this field are offered by the hybrid drive. This paper presents an introductory analysis of possible improvement in oil film parameters over cylinder liner achieved by the decrease in speed irregularity level 8.

Opis:
Research results of 14.00R20 tire, equipped with „run-flat" insert, in aspect of cornering stiffness are presented in this paper. Resistance on side drift is one of the many attributes of automobile wheels tyres, which influences on the useful properties of vehicle. The tire cornering characteristics, determined basing on laboratory research results are shown. These characteristics were determined in wide rage of air inflation pressure and wheel normal load changes, also with no air pressure inside the tire, what corresponds with the case of projectile shooting through the tyre and simultaneously allow the „run-flat" insert to switch into the transfer the components of driving wheel load. In the vehicles appropriated to other jobs than typical transport tasks, drive wheels with the special properties are often used. They are, for example, wheels adapted to the drive with reduced values of air pressure in the tyres in the heavy terrain conditions or wheels equipped with the insert type „run-flat", adapted to the drive without air in tyre as a result of the penetration or projectile shot through the tire. Such wheels are for a long time used, for example, in the wheeled transporter carriers or in the armoured vehicles prepared to the activities in the regions of armed conflicts. Presently, the frequent cases are known of application of „run-flat" insertions also in civilian personal vehicles, as elements for increasing the vehicle security level. Basing on cornering characteristics an analysis of tire properties were carried out. Data for tire road interaction modeling, during side cornering are shown.

Opis:
The relation between engine principal dimensions, i.e. piston diameter to stroke ratio is the parameter often modified in order to increase engine efficiency and durability. A similar operation is the achievement of given volume for different number of cylinders, which is the subject of the following paper. For recent years the engine manufacturers have been proposing in-line engines of 3, 4, 5 and 6 cylinders more eagerfy than in last century. Obviously engines of lesser cylinder number are proposed for small car s while those of greater number - for most dynamic ones. One can ask a question whether the cylinder number for a certain swept volume affects such parameters as engine efficiency and durability as well as lube oil consumption. There is no simple answer to this ąuestion but simulations performed by the author allow estimating tendencies in changes of those parameters for various numbers of cylinders. Moreover, it is quite vital that engine complex modifications accompanying the change in cylinder number have been taken into consideration in a course of carried out tests. Lesser number of cylinders for the same volume results in more solid pistons and connecting rods, worse engine run irregularity and soon. The paper presents introductory conclusions which allow selecting an engine of the cylinder number that ensures the best economical and dynamical parameters for a given car.

The tire characteristics of radial flexibility, prepared basing on laboratory research results are shown. These characteristics were determined in wide rage of air inflation pressure changes, also with no air pressure inside the tire. There is shown a participation of run-flat insert in all the tire normal load transmitting from road surface to wheel axis. Basing on tire characteristics of radial flexibility, coefficients of polynomial, approximating these characteristics were calculated. Results of research and calculations allow to use them directly in model of tire-road interaction in radial direction. The armored car tire with "run-flat" insert, the comparison of 255/100R16 tire flexibility characteristics, determined in wide rage of inflation pressure changes, the examples of polynomial approximation of tire flexibility characteristics for three different flexibility characteristics are presented in the paper.

Vibration tests of marine gas turbine engines are performed as researches on-line and off-line types. Systems on-line type generally monitored one or two vibration symptoms, which asses the limited and/or the critical values of parameters and they potentially can warn and/or shutdown engines. Systems off-line types are usually used for vibration analyzing during non-steady state of work. The paper presents comparison of different methods of analyzing vibration symptoms measured under run-up and shut-down processes of marine gas turbine engines. Results of tests were received on gas turbine engine DR76 type of the COGAG type propulsion system. The engine was not fitted with vibration monitoring system. Main goal of researches was qualified of help fulness and unequivocally results received by methods of synchronous measurement, order tracking and auto tracking. All vibration symptoms were chosen from the methodology of the diagnosing gas turbine engines operated in the Polish Navy, called BDS (Base Diagnosing System). Second purpose was estimation of the possibility of implementation presented methods of vibration analyses of gas turbine engines for on-line monitoring system. Application of periodical or on-line diagnostic procedures makes it possible to operate ship propulsion systems in accordance with their current technical state. The realization of the investigations made reliable verification of the investigation results possible.

Opis:
One of the most essential threats to the mobility of wheeled vehicles is their relatively high sensitivity to tire damage. Tires can be damaged as a result at vehicle-targeting fire, after running on a mine or an improvised charge. The purpose of the article is to analyze the current technical solutions in wheeled vehicle tires, allowing for the unobstructed use of the vehicle despite the damage of one or several tires (RUN FLAT systems). Since RUN FLAT systems have become increasingly popular in passenger cars as well, the article contains partial references to civilian solutions. One should remember that RUN FLAT systems are not only to guarantee vehicle mobility following the loss of pressure in the tire in straight-line motion, but also crew safety providing sufficient driving level and stability at longer distances. The article presents solutions of this type, applied not only in military vehicles, but also considers research-structural works implemented by ROSOMAK S.A. in cooperation with other centres. The works presented in this article were financed by ROSOMAK S.A. and National Research and Development Centre (NCBiR) (project SPB – RolRes, agreement no PBS1/A6/1/2012).

Opis:
The article contains an analysis of the load of the engines that drive city vehicles for waste collection. These vehicles operate in specific conditions and perform unconventional tasks. For this reason, the engines run in conditions of part load at low speed. Access to places where biogas is produced and the specific engine load led the Authors to propose a new concept of fuelling of the engine, which is presented in the article. To drive a waste collection vehiclefor the Authors propose to use a spark ignition engine fuelled with dried biogas, which was purified from sulphur compounds and biomethane. In case of lack of biomethane, natur al gas could be used. The two fuels are supplied to the engine in proportions depending on the load, but because of the specificity of the analyzed vehicles tasks it is expected that a significant share of time the engine will be fuelled by biogas or biogas slightly mixed with biomethane or natural gas. A prototype engine fuelled with two fuels will be based on a diesel engine, which will be modified. Especially pistons andfuel system will be changed. The ignition system with high discharge energy will be also prepared. The proposed concept of the engine intended to be applied to the waste collection vehicle is a result of analysis of engine run conditions for this type ofoperation. In particular, the idea combines the running conditions of the engine and the access of the vehicle to the place where renewable fuel is produced.

Opis:
During operation on road and due to gradual ageing ofa vehicle, the formation of gaseous pollutants undergoes certain evolution. At the start of the vehicle life the evolution is influenced mostly by the run-in period of the driving mechanism. Motor vehicle manufacturers state that the vehicle run-in period ends after the vehicle has run from 3,000-15,000 kilometers depending on the engine type and transmission mechanism. During the run-in period the fuel consumption decreases and the production of emissions slightly changes, which consequently influences the emission factor. (The emission factor is understood as the ratio between the pollutant produced and the amount of consumed fuel). A theoretical value of the difference in the fuel consumption between the new and run-in vehicle is about 8% in favor of the run-in vehicle. The European legislation does not specify after how many kilometers the vehicle stops to be considered new. This can lead to disputes when testing emissions from the new vehicle and those from the vehicle having the control software already installed. The contribution outlines apossibility of determining the coefficient for calculation of emissions and fuel consumption for the first tested vehicle and for the one that has coveredfrom 60 to 300 kilometres. It may contribute to the optimization of the control software installed in the vehicle.
