The paper presents preliminary stand tests of a demonstrator of planetary gearing. The gearing used in the research has been made of ABS polymer with good strength parameters. Parts of the gearing have been created by means of FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling). The input data come from 3D CAD solid model which geometry is determined by a file of any system equipped with the ability to save in STL format. This model is described by a grid of triangles and divided into levels (layers). Their thickness determines the accuracy of representation of a detail curvature. The thickness of the layers is also limited by the accuracy of the process and the equipment. The research was conducted on a test stand designed in an open system powered by a three-phase electric motor. The control is provided by a single-phase inverter with three outputs, which ensures full speed control. The load of the stand is realized by an electromagnetic powder brake. The possibility to control working time lets you precisely define the time intervals of various stages of the research. Using timer makes it possible to observe the current consumption of the gearing and helps to establish the research process. The research at this stand allows for obtaining stable working parameters and thus for obtaining accurate, not distorted results of the demonstrator’s operation. The purpose of the research is verification of gear endurance calculations and verification of the design in conditions similar to real ones.

The powertrain of an urban vehicle was subjected to detailed simulations. This study was conducted with the aim of getting to know the operating principle, verification of assumptions adopted during its design and determination of most effective control procedures to be applied with regard to its powertrain. However, the most important aspect involved the aspect of the power distribution between the engines, electrical machine and vehicle wheels in the particular operating modes of the powertrain. A study was conducted in the MATLAB/Simulink environment with the purpose of finding a configuration of an electrical machine coupling with a combustion engine that offers the greatest advantages in terms of the range of the speed ratio, demanded performance of the electrical machine and maximum power output. The simulations indicated that control of the speed ratio of the vehicle could be gained by application of an electrically controlled planetary gear. The range of the transmission ratio is relative to the ratio of the planetary gear, speed range of the combustion engine as well as electrical machine. The efficiency of the battery charging in the hybrid mode is mostly relative to the operating point of the engine. The optimization of the process of power generation by the electrical machine requires that the operating point of the engine be maintained at a range at which its high performance is guaranteed.

Nowadays the car selfstarters of new generation differ from those used so far, which are serial electromotors. The biggest manufacturers of these selfstarters are: Bosch, Valeo, Delco and Hitachi. Their main characteristic property is using of magnetic field from sintered magnets for excitation of selfstarter. The other characteristic property is using of planetary gear. During initial researches, the rub off teeth of ring gear has been often met in investigated selfstarters. This observation motivated the authors of the paper to investigate possibility of replacing of planetary gear by cycloidal gear in selfstarter. The influence of replacement of planetary gear by cycloidal gear upon operating conditions, such as loading and relative velocity in selfstarter bearing and for teeth of pinion - flying wheel gear, is considered in this paper. Also, the loading of elements of cycloidal gear has been calculated. It is difficult to find characteristics of such selfstarters in known literature - so it is necessary to obtain such characteristic by measurement or calculation approximated characteristic, for example, with FEM method. In the paper the approximated characteristic has been obtained for sample Bosch selfstarter. The knowledge of geometry of selfstarter, material properties and of approximated characteristic of selfstarter allows obtaining value of loading and relative velocities of mating parts with use of elaborated FEM model. For calculation the helping mathematical models have been used. The results of computation and the picture of wear of any selfstarter parts are presented in the paper.
