Opis:
Navigating vehicles over difficult terrain requires a drive system ensuring high mobility. It is particularly important in the case of unmanned ground vehicles. It is often not realized that a vehicle occupant frequently plays the role of a multi sensor, highly effective data processor and a control system at the same time. Due to this, the abilities of an unmanned vehicle's drive system should, to the greatest possible extent, compensate for the lack of an inside operator. To achieve this, it has to ensure high precision and ease of controlling. Such possibilities are provided by electric and hydrostatic systems. At the Military University of Technology, Chair of Engineering Equipment, a test platform for an EOD/IED robot was developed. Due to its considerable weight, it was equipped with a hydrostatic drive system. The vehicle has a sixwheeled chassis and a skid steering system. The paper presents initial findings of the research aimed at determining the influence of the applied hydraulic system solution on the appearance of kinematic incompatibilities. The presented experimental research included the identification of internal resistance as well as tests on three types of surfaces.

The restoration of the road infrastructure to its earlier state is a long and costly process and it is often the case that local government authorities cannot afford it. Due to this, alternative solutions are sought, which will shorten to the minimum the time dedicated to reconstructing destroyed parts of roads and bridges on one hand and which will constitute an economical solution on the other. A good idea for achieving the former and the latter at the same time seems to be the utilization, in the process of rebuilding permanent bridge crossings, of the military folding bridges' elements which have been withdrawn from use in the engineering subsections of the Polish Armed Forces. This paper presents non-military applications of military folding bridges, with special attention to strength tests thereof. It describes currently applied Polish and foreign methods of testing this type of bridge crossings and introduces a new method, indicating further development in this field.

Opis:
The article presents concepts of control of the manipulator with two degrees of freedom, which uses a water hydraulic power unit to drive the actuators. The proposed control system is based on the use of electromagnetically controlled “rosettes valve” and proportional flow control valve. The control system is implemented using a computer equipped with a module for the real-time operating system (XPC Target) working in connection with the environment Matlab/Simulink. Controlled variable of the drive system is the displacement of the individual hydraulic cylinder and after determining manipulator kinematics, any point of the object in operating space. The positioning error of individual manipulator elements will be determined during the test in terms of different control algorithms, using the PID controller and PWM signal. In addition, it analyses the impact of changes in the velocity of the piston rod for the boom mechanism and the arm mechanism. An important aspect of the presented hydrostatic drive system is the use of water as a medium that physical and chemical properties are different from commonly used hydraulic oil, and which is friendly to the environment and meet the high cleanliness requirements for the fluid used to transfer the hydrostatic energy. Therefore, the control system requires a different approach, tied with synchronous control valves ON/OFF and proportional control flow regulators to achieve high accuracy.

The article presents the method of controlling the position of the hydraulic cylinder using hydraulic valves on/off with an appropriate strategy for digital control. Main elements of the hydraulic system under consideration include a group of electromagnetic hydraulic valves and hydraulic cylinder single acting. The control system was implemented in the environment of the real-time system based on MATLAB/Simulink. The digital control strategy is based on a fast enough on and off switching valves causing corresponding motion of the cylinder to the required position. This article presents the advantages and disadvantages of this type of control about the system with the proportional control system. The accuracy of this kind of control depends on the structure, properties of the valves or their static and dynamic characteristics. The results of analysis of the control system have the possibility of controlling the positioning hydraulic cylinder with a rather high accuracy, which can be used in place of proportional control systems. The use of digital control system allows, under certain conditions to obtain cost savings related to a reduction in energy consumption, to get a much better adaptation to variable control systems. This concept is an interesting alternative for the conventional control system and provides opportunities for application in systems, where conventional control is very expensive e.g. water hydraulics or to the clear systems where the use of hydraulic proportional technique is not necessarily, but depends on the user to the possibility of obtaining good quality control at a relatively low cost.

In order to assess possibilities of energy saving during hydrostatic drive system operation, should be learned, and described losses occurring in system. Awareness of proportion of energy, volume, pressure, and mechanical losses in elements is essential for improving functionality and quality of hydrostatic drive systems characterized by unquestionable advantages. In systems with too low efficiency there is increase of load, mainly in case of pump load, which can lead to higher risk of failure, necessity of repair or replacement, as well as to shorten service life of system. Coefficients ki, given in subject literature by Paszota, describe relative value of individual losses in element. They make it possible to assess proportions of losses and assess value of energy efficiency (volumetric, pressure, mechanical) resulting from losses occurring at nominal pressure pn of system in which element is used. As a result, thanks to knowledge of coefficients ki of individual losses, it is possible to determine losses and energy efficiency of components operating in hydraulic system as well as efficiency of system with defined structure of motor speed control as function of speed and load coefficient of motor. Knowledge of coefficients of energy losses occurring in system elements (pump, hydraulic motor, conduits, and motor) allows building models of losses and energy efficiency of element working in system and energy efficiency of system as whole composed of elements. Mathematical models of losses and energy efficiency in system must take into account conditions resulting from applied structure of system, from level of nominal pressure, from rotational speed of motor driving pump shaft, from viscosity change of applied hydraulic oil. Article presents method of determining coefficients of axial piston pump used in typical hydrostatic drive system with proportional control. Values that can be assumed for these loss coefficients for other hydraulic pumps are also given.

The paper presents the concept of a new approach for remote control and monitoring of parameters of mobile or stationary machines in real time on the example of the hydrostatic transmission drive test stand. The proposed system control and monitoring is the mobile system which is closely related with the three applications written in a different programming languages, such as: java (Android) – mobile application runs on the tablet, C language – server application joins xPC Target with tablet, PHP – admin panel to manage mobile control platform. Controlling of the hydrostatic drive stand is implemented using an application installed on the tablet. This application is connected with computer’s real-time (xPC Target) module, generated in Matlab. The computer with xPC Target is equipped with a measuring-control card, to which the control signals are transmitted. This hardware-software component plays the connecting role between machine and operator of the mobile platform installed on the tablet. The application allows observe important parameters such as pressure, volumetric flow rate, temperature, velocity, torque in real-time, as well as, it enable, by use of special graphic slider on the tablet’s screen, to set control parameters such as: speed of electric motor, the opening and switching positions of the directional valve, as well as, setting the load by pressure relief valve. Based on this system research related to the verification of system operation were performed for different setting of the hydrostatic transmission drive speed controller, and selected results are presented in the paper.

Full picture of the energy losses in a hydrostatic drive system is a picture of the power of energy losses in the system elements. Paper presents the areas of the power fields of energy losses occurring in the elements of some hydraulic systems with different structures of the hydraulic motor speed control. Proposed graphical interpretation allows analysing and comparing different hydrostatic drive systems. In many constructed and manufactured machines currently used hydrostatic drive systems or electro hydrostatic systems of varying complexity. Today, the need for energy-efficient systems forces to some extent the development and improvement of computational methods using computer aided relating to energy efficiency systems. Hydrostatic systems especially in modern machines play a very important role. Actuators, such as hydraulic motors, hydraulic cylinders is commonly used for a long time, including on machines and equipment land and marine. Unawareness of proportions of the energy, volumetric, pressure and mechanical losses in elements is often the case. Problems connected with energy efficiency are essential for improvement of functionality and quality of hydrostatic drive systems, characterised by unquestioned advantages. Energy efficiency of hydrostatic transmissions, particularly those with throttling control of the motor speed, and also efficiency of the hydraulic servomechanism systems may be in fact higher than the values most often quoted in publications on the subject.

Opis:
The problem of energy tests of hydraulic systems with hydraulic cylinders, seemingly simple displacement machines, is more complex than that of rotary hydraulic systems. The results of the researches provide an insight into the impact of external loads, required speed, structure of the power supply system, viscosity of hydraulic oil on friction loss, and the efficiency of cylinder drive. The hydraulic cylinder is the strongest structure in the system. Failure of the system is most likely due to failure of the pump supplying the cylinder. The high load of the pump is often caused by the very low energy efficiency of the cylinder, which, despite a relatively low external load, requires high inlet pressure due to large mechanical losses of friction between the piston and the cylinder and between the piston rod and gland. These losses depend on the type of seal used, its shape, the material it is made from, pre-clamp, and the operating parameters of the cylinder. Improperly sealed or assembled seals can cause energy losses of up to 25%. Due to the use of moving seals in the hydraulic cylinder, its energy behaviour is completely different compared to the energy behaviour of a rotary motor, which does not have any seals. The friction force connected with the work of the sealing joints and the mechanical efficiency of the cylinder are determined not only by the external load but also by the method of the applicable supply of the cylinder resulting from the throttling structure, and in particular the pressure level generated in the discharge chamber of the cylinder.

Opis:
The present paper is dedicated to discuss how dynamic parameters of a hydraulic line intended to transfer hydraulic power from a source of hydraulic power (a hydraulic pump) to an actuating device (a hydraulic motor) can affect operation of an avionic hydraulic drive. Avionic hydraulic drives are operated with fast-varying waveforms of flow intensities and pressures. It is why analysis of most hydraulic drive systems must take account of compressibility of working fluid and elasticity of hydraulic lines. It leads to a wave model for propagation of energy variation down a hydraulic line (a pipe). The paper deals with flow of a compressible liquid via a hydraulic line with flexible walls. Theoretical deliberations were successfully verified by experimental research studies that were carried out on a dedicated test bench, therefore the presented amplitude vs. frequency characteristic curves of the hydraulic line could be obtained from both theoretical considerations and experimental research studied. The experimental research studies were carried out for hydraulic line terminated with a fixed flow restrictor alone and a flow restrictor combined with a hydraulic accumulator as well as for a hydraulic line supplied from a source of constant pressure and terminated with a valve with adjustable flow together with a hydraulic accumulator. The theoretical calculations for the amplitude vs. frequency characteristic curve are based on a model for a hydraulic line with its resistance depending on frequency.

In the paper are presented the diagrams of the structural energy efficiency of system with the throttling control assembly and total energy efficiency of the system with constant or variable capacity pump cooperating an overflow valve with the throttling control of the linear hydraulic motor. Diagrams of total energy efficiency of three hydraulic systems working at the same parameters of speed and load of hydraulic linear motor, which were different due to structure and ability of energy saving were presented and compared. This publication also presents analyses and compares the areas of the power fields of energy losses occurring in the elements of three compared hydraulic systems with different structures of the hydraulic linear motor speed control on example on Load Sensing system. The graphical interpretation of the power of losses in the hydrostatic drive and control system elements lets to compare the same power fields of energy losses with other power fields of another structure. This enables to understand what energy losses are the biggest and in which elements of compared hydraulic systems. The best possibility to use in system, as a supply source of the hydraulic cylinder speed series throttling control assembly, is a set consisting of a variable capacity pump cooperating with a Load Sensing (LS) regulator, which totally eliminates the structural volumetric losses in a system. Power ΔPstv of structural volumetric losses is equal to zero, because the current pump capacity QP is adjusted, by the LS regulator, to the current flow intensity QM set by the throttling assembly.

This paper presents the project of the test stand to determine the friction force, the relative eccentricity and temperature distribution m the slide journal bearing during the lubrication with ferrofluid or classic oil. The test stand is built on the basis of TUM 25 lathe's corps. There is the shaft with a diameter of journal d = 100 mm supported on two supports attached to the lathe's body. There is a sleeve in the housing with the electromagnets installed in the centre of this shaft. The housing of sleeve is loaded bv a transverse force with hydrostatic supports (cylindrical and flat one). Measurement of friction force is made by strain gauge force sensor Friction force is measured on the body shells. At the same time is performed measurement of both sleeve and journal displacements by four inductive displacement's sensor s and four whirl-stream ones to determine the relative eccentricity and displacement of sleeve axis towards oj the shaft axis. The slide bearing is supplied bv the ferrofluid which is thermatly stabilized in ultrathermostat. In the paper is shown particular plan for experimental research. These studies are intended to demonstrate the changes of relative eccentricity and temperature distribution in the bearing. Additionally are presented the changes of friction forces caused by the bearing surfaces shape and ferrolubricant with different concentrations of magnetic particles Fe3O4. The gap of slide bearing can be affected by the external longitudinal magnetic field with different ralues of magnetic field strength. The bearing may by loaded a transverse force varying stepwise, or continuously with values from a few to several thousand Newton. This paper presents the results of a hydraulic line dynamic properties analysis taking into account inertia of the fluid flowing in rigid and flexible lines, the compressibility effect for this fluid and the viscous friction effect. The following are described and analyzed: solution of the wave equation in the form binding four variables: pressure and flow rate at the line input, and pressure and flow rate and the line output; two of the above-mentioned variables should be regarded as independent (input) and the other two as dependent (output), the accuracy comparison of distributed parameters model to lumped parameters model with regard to applicability range in hydraulic systems analysis, pressure value at given installation points as a response to rapid valve closing (transient response) or to valve opening (waterhammer effect). In these considerations the hydraulic line is regarded as a two-port with two inputs and two outputs with a definite transmittance matrix. Main considerations concern the variable resistance model. A general solution is given as a function of the Laplace operator. Introducing appropriate simplifications into the variable resistance model, the constant resistance model and lossless line model is obtained. Also, general solutions for three different lump parameter models are presented. For the lumped parameters lin presents three equivalent models possible, i.e. as: a symmetrical two-port, a two-port with shared resistance and a two-port with capacitance at the output.

The analyses were performed in the time domain (analysis of peak-to-peak pressure) and frequency domain (analysis of changes in frequency and pulsation amplitude). The results of experimental studies have shown that the change of the pump’s rotation speed influences changes in the course of pressure pulsation (peak-to-peak pressure and amplitude), in some cases significantly increasing the parameters mentioned. In the article, a study of conversion of energy in a hybrid (electro-hydrostatic) drive of a utility van intended for city traffic is described. In this hybrid drive, the electric drive is periodically accompanied by hydrostatic drive, especially during acceleration and regenerative braking of the vehicle. We present a mathematical model of the hybrid drive as a set of dynamics and regulation equations of the van traveling at a given speed. On this basis, we construct a computer program, which we use to simulate the processes of energy conversion in electro-hydrostatic hybrid drive. The main goal of the numerical simulation is to assess the possibility of reducing energy intensity of the electric drive through such a support of the hydrostatic drive. Our results indicate that it is possible to significantly increase the efficiency of energy conversion in the electric drive by support of the hydrostatic drive. In the article, chosen results of simulation studies for multiple starting and braking the car are given, and they show a 30% decrease for energy drawn by the hybrid drive, compared to solely electric drive.
