Opis:
Gears, due to their complex shape, carried load and required accuracy are ones of most complex aircraft engine parts. Single tooth damage usually breaks the power transmission and causes failure of the entire gear system. Adequate sustainability and guarantees of transmission is therefore a condition for secure operation of whole device. Particularly high requirements for reliability are put to transmissions used in the aerospace industry. Due to the loads which are transmitted through the gears, the materials used by the manufacturer must have not only high strength but also show the abrasion resistance of the surface layer and the ductility of the core. Proper parameters matching allows to create an element that can operate at higher stresses and loads. In addition, factor strength and abrasion resistance of the surface layer has a significant impact on the life of the gear. Thermo-chemical treatment of industrial gears is a fundamental process, which gives them adequate mechanical properties regarding loads they carry and the surface conditions of work. Among many methods of thermo-chemical treatment used in the industry, the most distinctive are innovative technologies designed to reduce process costs and being more environmentally friendly. The most promising methods in the discussed field are vacuum carburizing and high-pressure hardening, which by their specification of work significantly reduce the emission of CO2 and the duration of the process, without reducing the quality of the final product. The main aim of the paper is to present criteria for selection of heat treatment parameters as a part of thermo-chemical treatment process performed using vacuum methods. Proper heat treatment parameters are crucial in programming of some of final material characteristics as grain size and retained austenite morphology.

Opis:
The paper describes the usability of current test methods employed in fuels for CI engines testing for fuels containing non-petroleum components. The paper describes test results that justify the necessity for test method modification and for establishing new criteria for assessment of such fuels usability. The analysis covered typical courses of friction coefficient and electrical contact potential as film thickness during test. During standard test the wear stages were isolated, and then referenced to actual operation of friction pair in fuel supply system of diesel engine. Test results show that methodology used up to date is not useful. The restriction to standard corrected wear scar diameter (WS 1.4) is not enough for proper interpretation of course and effects of model wear. Moreover, it is impossible to reference to actual operation conditions, which is inconsistent with tribological testing rules. Such rules mean that testing conditions reflect the actual ones as much as possible. Characteristics of test technique using HFRR, discussion on test method usability for testing the modified fuels, lubricity change vs. the increase of concentration of hydrocarbons typical for biohydrocarbons from Fischer-Tropsch process, comparison of changes of friction coefficient and lubrication film thickness for samples are presented in the paper.

Opis:
The contemporary progress of automotive industry and transportation is determined to a large extent by the increasing environmental requirements, aimed at limiting the harmful impact of vehicles upon human life and people’s health. A crucial issue linked with operating vehicles is the exhaust gases generated by internal combustion engines. In order to reduce this hazardous impact upon the natural environment, the construction of the engines is continuously improved, electronic controlling is being developed for managing the course of working processes taking place in cylinders and auxiliary systems, exhaust gases cleaning systems are being developed, alternative fuels are being sought for and the possibilities of their optimal use are being examined. Natural gas is the fuel that is highly expected and hoped to be used more widely for powering internal combustion engines in vehicles. This article presents the values of selected ecological indicators of the Perkins 1104D-E44TA Diesel engine, powered by compressed natural gas and Diesel fuel (CNG + ON). For comparison reasons, the engine was powered with both fuels at the same time and then only by Diesel fuel (ON) in the same working conditions. Before the tests, the powering system control unit had been calibrated so as to enable obtaining similar values of torque while the engine was powered with the Diesel fuel only and with both CNG and ON while working with external speed characteristics; the calibration was also set up to allow for the maximum share of the natural gas in the total fuel amount supplied into the engine cylinders without engine knocking. When powering the engine with both CNG and Diesel fuel, the concentration levels of nitric oxides and carbon dioxide in exhaust gases were lower. However, the total content of hydrocarbons in the exhaust gases grew multiple times, and the content of the carbon monoxide was significantly increased. In addition, the obtained measurement results of the smokiness of the exhaust gases and the content of the soot with the engine powered with two fuels were not satisfactory.

Opis:
Higher and higher exploitation demands given to the equipment and machines from reasons of safety and minimalization of exploitation costs, cause the necessity of the search for the new methods of the damages detection in the diagnosed objects, for example on the base of the vibroacoustics signals analysis. The natural feature of vibroacoustics diagnostics is the possibility for an easy and fast recording of a high figure of strongly redundant vibroacoustics signals and related with this the large surplus of information, which is not utilized in great part, but simultaneously the necessity for the usage of the multidimensional diagnostic vector steps out most often. This causes the necessity diminution of utilized information to the level permitting on design of adequate diagnostic model. One of methods of machines defects diagnose is the correlation of the objective technical condition with diagnostic parameters received from the vibroacoustic signal. Principal Components Analysis (PCA) offers an approach for a linear transformation of those parameters. The redundant information included into those parameters is reduced and the obtained diagnostic model is more reliable. The product chosen for the investigation presented in this paper is a Diesel engine. The application of the presented method eliminates the necessity of the performing analytical model which are time consuming and costly. It is possible to diagnose of the engine from objective parameters of the specially prepared vibroacoustic signal without performing simulation models.
Pozwala to zredukować redundantną informację zawartą w tych parametrach i uzyskać bardziej wiarygodny model diagnostyczny. Obiektem wybranym do badań zaprezentowanych w pracy był silnik o zapłonie samoczynnym. Stosowanie przedstawionej metody eliminuje konieczność wykonywania czasochłonnych i kosztownych modeli analitycznych. Możliwe jest diagnozowanie silnika na podstawie odpowiednio przygotowanego, wymiarowo zredukowanego sygnału wibroakustycznego, bez wykonywania modeli symulacyjnych.
