Opis:
The main engine of the ship is a complex technical object, which provides propulsion of the screw and ensures the safety of a ship at sea. It consists of a number of control systems such as lube oil temperature control, temperature control of the cooling water, fuel viscosity control or adjustable speed control of the main engine. Each of the main propulsion control system affects the safety of the ship. Continuous automation systems are built with standard transducer of measured quantity, the controller and actuator. The actuator is responsible for the direct setting of the size of the control object. The actuator is connected to the control valve and the actuator position change translates into a change in the flow rate of the working medium. Thus, the operating element is required to operate in the linear characteristics of the standard signal range. From the other hand, the control valve provides flow characteristics linear or of equal percentage. This control principle of medium flow is used in various control systems. The actuator of the control valve is always equipped with a positioner, which corrects errors in the position of the valve relative to the input signal. The presented design of the motorized valve is an analog system. Using the technique of converting multiple digital signal causes the system complexity and predisposition to damage. Eliminating the intermediate elements can improve the quality control and system safety. Then it is beneficial to have a design of the operating element based on the direct digital processing unit. The aim of paper has been to present design of the valve actuator, which completely abandons the digital-to-analogue convertor. The new design should increase the level of security of the system and quality control. The design layout is presented in the article. The new actuator is on-off valves, which control, directly from the digital bits, the form of the output signal. The control signal may use the control algorithms to be used or developed individually to the actuator design.

Opis:
This paper describes simulation research of single-acting hydraulic drive for valves of internal combustion engines. The proposed drive was composed of commercial servovalve and typical hydraulic single-acting actuator. Research was performed for the prepared and verified model of this drive. In the paper mainly analysed was the impact of control signals on course of valve lift and its characteristic parameters like: delay of start of valve movement in opposition to the start of the control signal, the time of opening and closing of the valve, the valve lifting time, the course of valve lift, fill factor of the area under the valve lift curve and velocity of the valve subsidence. Special attention was given to the closing movement of the valve. Drive control was limited to step control signal. In the final phase of closing the valve, the control method had to slow down and stop the valve, but without a significant influence on the valve closing phase. During research the fill factor of the area under the valve lift curve was calculated and compared with values obtained for the classic drive with cam. A number of simulations allowed to determine the optimal control signal for the course with deceleration of the valve. Based on simulation studies it was found that comparable fill factors of the area under the valve lift curve for cam drive and analyzed electrohydraulic drive were obtained up to over 4000 rpm speed. Above this speed the factor was significantly smaller for hydraulic drive. For low engine speeds the values of factor were acceptable and amounted to about 0.7. Unfortunately for the valve opening times for engine speed 6000 rpm, tested drive did not provide the full opening of the valve and the fill factor of the area under the valve lift curve was unsatisfactory. In this research, the frequency characteristics of the servovalve published by their manufacturers were used. It demonstrated that because of the delay and response speed of the valve is necessary to use units generating a control signal ahead in relation to the desired moment of opening the valve.

Opis:
This paper describes a research stand and results of experimental research of single-acting hydraulic drive for valves of internal combustion engines. The research stand of the hydraulic valve drive was consisted of: typical valve drive for high-speed internal combustion engine, commercial hydraulic actuator, commercial hydraulic accumulator and electrically controlled hydraulic distributor, which controlled the flow of oil supply to the hydraulic actuator. Rexroth commercial servovalve was used as hydraulic distributor for this valve drive. Components of hydraulic valve drive were mounted to specially designed research sleeve. On this sleeve complete drive, which consisted of a hydraulic cylinder and servovalve, was mounted. Drive control was performed in an open loop with a use of rectangular control signal. Displacement of the valve was measured by an optical displacement sensor. Tests were performed for constant lift of the valve, supply pressure set in the range of 6 to 10 MPa and at fixed temperature of the working medium and different initial deflections of valve spring. The behaviour of the drive was researched for bipolar and a rectangular control signals. Such range of measurements was to determine inter alia: the impact of the supply pressure and the control signals values on the drive work. Obtained results were used to verify the simulation model in a wide range of variation of the characteristic parameters of the electro-hydraulic actuator. The results of experimental measurements like valve movement and pressures in the drive were shown and analysed in this paper. With a reference to the valve movement, a detailed calculations of the valve kinematics were performed. Special attention was given to the opening and closing velocities of the valve, depending on the servo control signal. Subsidence valve velocity during its return movement was calculated. This subsidence valve velocity is an important parameter in terms of the applicability of this drive for the internal combustion engines. Valve opening time delay in opposition to the current control signal was also specified and discussed. Obtained results allowed to conclude that the proposed drive provides acceptable kinematic parameters for high-speed engines at supply pressures of at least 8 to 10 MPa. During the measurements acceptable valve subsidence speeds were obtained. It was found that there is a possibility of adjustment of this parameter by setting the slider servovalve negative overlap. Results became the basis of development of the model of this type of the drive. Further simulation studies will allow to evaluate the applicability of such valve drive for internal combustion engines. Further simulation studies allow to compare the proposed solution with known literature hydraulic valve drives.

Comparisons of valve lift proceedings driven hydraulically and mechanically by the use of harmonic cam, for two engine speeds, obtained from simulations are presented in the article. These comparisons show that at greatest engine speeds it is indispensable the use of pressures of the working liquid exceeding 10 MPa to obtain nearing results to the classical mechanical timing gear. Preliminary simulation test results indicate that it may ensure desired run of lift of valve in the wide range of engine speed

This paper contains a description of a shock wave (called a flame when the deflagration is considered) propagation pattern impact on a motion of a barrier. Here, the numerical research was conducted on a model of a pyrotechnic actuator, hence, the piston is understood as a movable barrier. The processes occurring within the pyrotechnic actuators after ignition of a pyrotechnic propellants have been explained. The investigations are focused on the dependence of a shape of the actuator’s combustion chamber and the piston stroke time. It appears that the appropriate design of the combustion chamber can decrease the time required for a piston total stroke using this same type of a propellant. The visualization of the flame occurring due to ignition of the propellant is crucial for understanding the dependence between the construction of the actuators interior and the piston stroke time. Therefore, the approach of simulating numerically the flames aroused. The simulation was conducted on a full scale 3D model of a pyrotechnic actuator which is a detail representation of a real object on which the verification test will be conducted. However, only the flame propagation was considered here. The material of an actuators members was not investigated, hence the AUTODYN solver considered them as a single rigid bodies with its own mass and inertia.

Opis:
Shock absorber with cylindrical actuator is a new concept of integrated damper with floating device, in international patent application PCT/EP2016/061515, with wide application in road, rail and aerial vehicles. Comparative to the known solution with rubber sleeves or bellows, the new one is capable to work at more increased pressure being more compact and due to metallic cylinder is more reliable. The other important advantage consists of it applicability at any kind of shock absorber without any special preparation, the solution consisting of replacing the dust shield with a pneumatic cylinder sealed against rod with a gasket and sliding closed in the lower part by sealing element/s fitted in trough/troughs practiced in an annular body fastened against the outer cylinder. For a better behaviour the patent application contains and solutions with double sliding sealing working at high pressure and thus assuring enough floating forces to sustain the vehicle without standard metallic spring so it can be utilized successfully in aerial vehicles landing gear. By using displacement and pressure transducers and equipment of control and command, it becomes an active suspension. The paper presents the double sliding sealing solution and demonstrates, by simulation the advantages confer by this new solution of shock absorber with cylindrical actuator in landing gear. This purpose was realized a virtual suspension model on which simulated hard landing for vehicle load and unload states, for different pneumatic spring preloaded forces.

Mobile heavy machines produce vibrations with low natural frequencies. Because they tend to ride at low speeds, excitations due to road roughness excite low frequency vibrations, which can be reduced by active or semi active methods only. Under conditions of low frequency vibrations, energy dissipation in tires will reduce the vibration intensity in a minor degree only. In the unsprung mobile machine vibration isolation system are provided between a vibration source and the protected object (operator) along the path of vibration propagation. Most machines are now equipped with controlled suspension seats. In the case of active suspensions, the external energy source is required, for instance in the form of compressed air. The compressed air has the advantage that it is generally available in heavy machines as the working fluid and is environmentally friendly. Simulation tests were carried out both in the time domain in Matlab-Simulink and in the frequency domain in the program Mathcad. Simulation tests were performed to investigate effectiveness and stability of the proposed solution and the results were deemed satisfactory. The system was found to be feasible and implementable with respect to every parameter. The first purpose of this study is to develop a simulation model of the active suspension of operator's seat based on an adjustable pneumatic actuator. The other purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of different control strategies.

Initially, electronic components replaced the mechanical ones to make various systems more reliable. Mechanical control systems, due to the wear of movable parts and imprecise adjustment, were affected by large errors, which are not shown by electronic circuits operating according to constant set-points. Then, a sharp increase in electronisation was associated with the tightening of exhaust gas emission regulations. Progress in some cases is forced by environmental protection, in other ones by market competition. Modern motor vehicles, slow moving vehicles, military vehicles, etc., are the technical systems being constructed using the latest developments in many fields of science, first of all in mechanics and machine engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, information technology, and chemistry. The rapid development of electronics has led to an increase in the number of electronic components in motor vehicles in all systems, starting with an engine, which has been modified first, to comfort and infotainment systems. The paper presents example measurements of sensors and actuators of an engine with Common Rail fuel supply system on the example of Fiat 1.3 JTD MultiJet engine. The measurements were made using various diagnostic instruments, such as a diagnostic tester, a multimeter or an oscilloscope. Sometimes, the reading of error codes with a diagnostic tester itself is not enough and it is necessary to check the signal waveform with an oscilloscope, which has been presented in this paper.

Opis:
The history of hybrid vehicles has started between the 19th and the 20th century because then the first project of a hybrid vehicle was constructed. The first man who manufactured a front hub mounted electric propulsion connected with a generator powered by a spark ignition engine was Ferdinand Porsche. This vehicle was called the Lohner- -Porsche Electromobile. The first mass-produced hybrid vehicle was the first generation Toyota Prius. The model premiere was in 1996 and the production started one year later. The vehicle was equipped with a 1.5 dcm 58 hp spark ignition engine and with the added electric propulsion. It generated 40 mechanical hp. Since 2000, a 72 hp spark ignition engine and a 44 hp electric generator were mounted. Fuel consumption of this model was 5 litres per 100 km. In the early 2000s, 95% hybrid vehicles were the Toyota Prius. The biggest competitor to the Toyota Prius was the Honda Insight. Lexus and Mercedes started manufacturing hybrid vehicles few years later. The most popular car brands that sell hybrid vehicles are Toyota and Lexus from Toyota Motor Corporation. This article describes an example of diagnostic possibilities for the hybrid vehicle system. The construction of vehicle models that use two propulsion systems (spark ignition engine and electric generator) results in the development and increase in control system devices. The measurements were made using various diagnostic devices, e.g. a diagnostic scanner, mustimeter, megohm-meter and oscilloscope. The reading of fault codes is not enough so it is necessary to use a mustimeter or a megohm-meter to examine the signal characteristics, which is presented in this article.
