Opis:
An important problem in the design of machinery and equipment at the stage of determining their structure is the issue of providing adequate thermal comfort to users while operating in variable climatic and environmental conditions. This issue is of particular importance because all types of machinery and devices are equipped with very expensive and automated control and monitoring system, which should guarantee adequate warming conditions and should work under different climatic conditions. Examples of these tendencies are special solutions for vibroacoustic insulation of the inside of the devices, special air conditioning equipment, special constructions, ergonomic inside solutions. The process of shaping the discussed structural design of vehicles in terms of meeting the relevant technical and operational criteria is currently being increasingly realized through experimental tests of prototypes supported by numerical calculations. The purpose of this paper is to present the methodology of conducting test stand as a stage for the experimental determination and verification of temperature distribution, the location of heating and air conditioning devices in a prototype vehicle in variable climatic conditions (minus 15º C). The research was carried out in a large-scale climate chamber. It covered the process of heating up the passenger area of the bus and the time of temperature stabilization on the inside of the vehicle while operating the heating systems. An additional attempt was made to test the heating system while the vehicle was in motion and to open the vehicle door to simulate the stopping of the vehicle at the bus stop. Another aspect that was analysed was the impact of the installed convector on the vehicle when the liquid heater was off.

Opis:
This research work is part of a broader comprehensive issue, which is the analysis of flow and operating parameters of journal slide bearings lubricated with ferro-oil. In this article, the author presents only the main assumptions and essential transformations of the analytical and numerical model for determining the pressure distributions in the gap of a slide journal bearing lubricated with ferro-oil. It is cardinal that the rheological and magnetic values of ferro-oil parameters adopted in numerical calculations are based on the results of actual values obtained in the author’s earlier research work. There are presented the pressure distributions by abovementioned method in the article for cases of bearings lubricated with ferro-oils with different concentration of magnetic particles. The obtained results are shown in the form of a set of four complementary characteristics of the dimensionless pressure distributions. First and main of them are the calculations for classical Newtonian lubrication but they take into account the influence of the magnetic field on the distributions. The next of the presented characteristics are so-called "corrections" of pressure distribution values, taking into account as follows: effects of changes in ferro-oil viscosity related to temperature changes, impacts of ferro-oil viscosity changes related to pressure changes and the effect of non-oil properties of the lubricant. The article includes a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the obtained results as well as observations and conclusions are presented in it.

Analysis of temperature distribution and heat flow in the exhaust system of diesel engine to determine technical parameters of the system for heat recuperation and changing of thermal energy into electric energy was presented. Temperature of exhaust gases as well as geometrical and material features of exhaust system were the input data accepted for modelling. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was used to determine temperature distribution in the exhaust system. The software by use numerical methods finite volume method) enables solving partial differential equations consisting of equations of: continuity, Navier-Stokes, Fourier-Kirchoff and complemented with other equations important as regards the discussed phenomenon (e.g. with turbulences models)transforming them in the algebraic equations or common differential equations. CFD software enables gaining some information as regards flow rate, distribution of speed field, and pressure field as well as heat flow, temperature field and mass field. Design and principle of operation of Peltier 's cell, model of recuperator, exhaust system, and diesel engine, finite elements meshing, boundary conditions assumed in analysis of exhaust gases and water flow, distribution of temperature field (maximal temperature of scale 335 K and maximal temperature of scale 400 K) on external wall of exhaust system and cross-section of exhaust system are presented in the paper.

Opis:
Research on heat flow in granite sample and sample of aluminium foam with the use of a thermal imaging camera is presented in the paper. Temperature distribution on the surface of the sample as a function of time was obtained on the basis of data from the thermal imaging camera. Thermovision is one of the most universal technology, which is applied for detection of infrared radiation. This technique allows observing and record infrared radiation emitted by objects located in the surrounding environment. This technology allows obtaining, in a short time, temperature distribution on the surface of the sample. The thermograms (pictures showing on the surface of the object) are types of photos showing temperature distribution on the tested object surface which is achieved on the base of a specified range of electromagnetic radiation. Accurate measurement of the temperature distribution on the heated granite sample surface was obtained using a thermal imaging camera FLIR SC 6000. Thermal imaging camera was connected to the computer equipped with control software FLIR ResearchIR Max. Heat source was applied in the experiment as a cast iron hotplate with high efficiency heating, gradual control and 1500W power. Obtained results showed regular temperature distribution over the surface of researched sample.

Opis:
The size of an engine is one of the factors affecting its thermal efficiency. It is known that with an increase of the size of the engine, the cubic capacity and heat generation grows in the third power, whereas thermal losses are proportional only to the second power of the size (due to heat exchange surface). However, the increase in the size of the engine generates some problems related to its mass, rotational speed and heat load, the last of which is a subject of these considerations. In the article, the influence of the piston size on its thermal and mechanical stresses is considered. Similar boundary conditions for both cases were assumed. Simulation of the steady-state heat transfer and mechanical simulation were carried out using the Finite Element Method. In each analysis, both the original version of the piston and its scaled version were considered. The boundary conditions were adopted on the basis of engine catalogue data and available literature. The results of analyses were discussed.

Opis:
In this article the engine piston Renault Premium DXi11 430 460 EEV has been analysed using the Finite Element Method. Analysis consider as well heat transfer phenomenon as the thermal and mechanical strains of the piston. Simulations were performed for the point of engine maximum power. Piston material was assumed to be 40HM (1.7225) steel and its properties are delivered basing on available scientific papers. The simulation assumed mean values of heat transfer coefficient, reference temperature and cycle pressure based on engine data, maximum power engine work simulation in AVL Boost software and literature. Part of boundary condition (e.g. cylinder wall temperature) was assumed basing on authors’ engineering intuition and experience. The resulting temperature distribution in the piston was implemented for geometrically nonlinear mechanical FEM analysis. Both the analysis of thermal stresses and stresses of the hot piston in the top dead centre were performed.

Opis:
This paper presents the project of the test stand to determine the friction force, the relative eccentricity and temperature distribution m the slide journal bearing during the lubrication with ferrofluid or classic oil. The test stand is built on the basis of TUM 25 lathe's corps. There is the shaft with a diameter of journal d = 100 mm supported on two supports attached to the lathe's body. There is a sleeve in the housing with the electromagnets installed in the centre of this shaft. The housing of sleeve is loaded bv a transverse force with hydrostatic supports (cylindrical and flat one). Measurement of friction force is made by strain gauge force sensor Friction force is measured on the body shells. At the same time is performed measurement of both sleeve and journal displacements by four inductive displacement's sensor s and four whirl-stream ones to determine the relative eccentricity and displacement of sleeve axis towards oj the shaft axis. The slide bearing is supplied bv the ferrofluid which is thermatly stabilized in ultrathermostat. In the paper is shown particular plan for experimental research. These studies are intended to demonstrate the changes of relative eccentricity and temperature distribution in the bearing. Additionally are presented the changes of friction forces caused by the bearing surfaces shape and ferrolubricant with different concentrations of magnetic particles Fe3O4. The gap of slide bearing can be affected by the external longitudinal magnetic field with different ralues of magnetic field strength. The bearing may by loaded a transverse force varying stepwise, or continuously with values from a few to several thousand Newton. A/so, the rotational velocitv of Journal can be changed stepwise, or continuously from 0 to 6000 rpm using a programmable inverter.

Opis:
The paper presents results of FEM investigations into the effect of thermal barrier coating (TBC) on stress and temperature distributions in the components of naturally aspirated diesel engine. Calculations were performed by means of Abaqus ver. 6.8-3 computer program. The considered coating was plasma sprayed double-layered TBC consisting 0.15 mm thick NiCrAl bond layer and 0.3 mm ZrO2-8%Y2O3 top coat. TBC reduced the maximum temperature of the cylinder head by 15K compared to uncoated metal head, increased temperature of the outlet channel by 10 K and reduced maximum temperatures in inlet and outlet valves by 2 and 1.2 K, respectively. Although maximum temperature of the pis ton head remained the same after deposition of the coating but the range of temperatures at the piston head was reduced by 23.8%. Application o f TBC considerably reduced stresses in acritical region of outlet valve- the interface of stellite hardfacing /valve. The highest thermal stresses in the TBC were in the bondcoat, which confirms the common localization of damages. Stress concentrations were also found in the metal part at the edges of TBC and at the edges of the recess machined in the piston head. The reduction of metal temperatures and thermal gradients in protected components should have some positive effect on the components' durability.
W pracy przedstawiono rezultaty badań numerycznych wpływu powłoki typu bariery cieplnej (TBC) na rozkład temperatur i naprężeń w elementach wolnossącego silnika ZS. Obliczenia numeryczne zostały wykonane przy pomocy programu Abaqus wer. 6.8-3. Zastosowanie powłoki znacznie obniżyło wartość naprężeń w krytycznym miejscu zaworu wylotowego- granicy podłoża i warstwy napawanej stellitem Najwyższa wartość naprężeń TBC występowała w warstwie podkładowej co potwierdziło częstą lokalizację pęknięć. Znaleziono również koncentracje naprężeń na krawędzi TBC i krawędzi wybrania w denku tłoka. Obniżenie temperatur metalu i gradientów temperatur w pokrytych elementach powinno wydłużyć trwałość elementów.
