The article provides a discussion upon the structure of a measuring head designed and manufactured with the purpose of acquisition of data required by a diagnostic system for hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers of passenger cars operating based on vibroacoustic methods. The basis for the design development was a set of initial assumptions adjusted to the multidimensional methods of analysing vibration signals applied. For the design of the measurement track, a block diagram was proposed which was then extended by auxiliary electronic elements of the measuring system conforming with all the relevant requirements. The main components of the measurement track included: a three-axis sensor for vibration acceleration constructed based on one-axis converters, an angular displacement sensor usedfor measuring the rotation angle and linear velocity of a car and a laser road unevenness sensor. For the computer recording of the signals being measured, an analogue-digital cardwas used. The measuring head in question was mounted on a measuring trolley and then test and trial examinations were conducted while driving at various speeds up to 50 km/h in normal operating conditions. The repeatability of the measurement results obtained proved the measuring head's usability in testing.

The suspension is the component decisive about safety of drive of cars, in which dumping elements have essential meaning, which the most often are telescopic hydraulic shock-absorbers. Therefore, in exploitation process so important investigations of their technical condition are in track which opinion of their usefulness should be made not only to more far exploitation, but also the identification of typical damages. The common used method in practical ways of diagnosing of shock-absorber in article was introduced. There are two methods of investigations: built from and shock-absorber built-in in vehicle suspension. In first method - in support about indicatory graph, the characteristic of suppression be appointive. They are the basis to diagnostic opinion of technical condition of studied damper. In second method the results of investigations have approximate character. From those methods the most often used station control of vehicles in Poland - method post EUSAMA and BOGE in article were described, which used in investigations the harmonic excitatory of vibrations stimulant to vibrations unsprung and sprung masses of vehicle. The car is so folded, vibrate mechanical stimulated by excitator to vibrations arrangement. The vibro-acoustic methods of analyses' of signals in article were introduced, which can be practical in investigations of diagnostic shock-absorber. They are then the method of multidimensional analysis of signal - the Short-Time Fourier Transforms (the STFT), Wigner - Ville'a and Wavelet.

The article presents the amplitude measurement used in the diagnosis of hydraulic fluid leakage from the shock absorbers of passenger cars. Measures used to assess the distribution of the peak using the free vibration method with force extortion. To verify the results of study the FFT were used. In particular illustration of a random vibroacoustic process, acceleration of sprung mass for front and rear suspension, spectrum of acceleration of sprung mass for front suspension, larger differences of spectrum of acceleration of sprung mass for front suspension are presented in the paper. Analysis results of the of the peak and ofthe spectrum for the front suspension with losses of shock absorber fluid show decrease in amplitudes of vibrations corresponding increase in shock absorber fluid. Asymmetry of the damping characteristics affects the differences in compression and tension of shock absorber. Spectral analysis is better measure then the study of period. For the rear shock absorbers, differences are smaller. This is due to difference in design of Fiat Seicento front and rear suspension). The presented method of diagnosis requires further study carried out on a large shocks absorbers population to their averaging and comparing test results using different testing methods and estimators and stochastic analysis of vibroacoustic signals.

Shock absorbers in modern cars have asymmetric damping characteristics corrected by overflow valves. Their indicator diagrams are far from being elliptical. Defective shock absorbers may lead to excessive amplitudes in vibration accelerations, excessive car body rolls, both lateral and longitudinal, excessive braking distance and destruction of the car components or road surface. The paper discusses methods of testing shock absorbers mounted or removed from the car. Advantages and disadvantages of the methods are used as bas is for the assessment. It is pointed out that the methods should not assume linear characteristics of springs and damping elements. Testing methods can be divided as follows: - those referring to shock absorbers removed from the car, - those referring to shock absorbers mounted in the car. Methods used for testing shock absorbers removed from the car are those performed on indicator test rigs provided with mechanical-electric or electrohydraulic extortion system. Such test rigs have measuring devices to enable recording of indicator diagrams relative to the absorber damping force in function of piston stroke with deflection and reflection. Among a variety of testing methods, those requiring no removal are by far preferred by Vehicle Control Stations or diagnostic lines. The methods can be divided asfollows: -free vibration type, -forced vibration type.

The paper presents results experimental investigations, which the aim was settlement of usefulness of two methods of non-stationary signal analyses: continuous wavelet transform and Wigner-Ville'a transform. Usefulness of those methods in diagnostic of vehicle shock absorbers was compared. The new diagnostic estimator was used in investigations. Damping elements are essential sets decisive of the drive safety of cars. Damping elements are most often hydraulic telescopic dampers. Tunings mechanical stimulant devices for vibrations in which an element enforcing is plate on which runs with wheel of investigated damper are in generally practical in Poland in research of built-up dampers in passenger cars . Used methods of multidimensional analyses are fitted for the identification of the single damage in the diagnostics of built-up dampers in the vehicle. CWT distribution of relative vibration acceleration, diagram of Wmax estimator values for oil volumes changes, cumulative diagram of Wmax estimator values, WV distribution of relative vibration acceleration, diagram of Wmax estimator values for oil volumes changes, cumulative diagram of estimator Wmax values are presented in the paper.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań eksperymentalnych, których celem było ustalenie przydatności dwóch metod analizy sygnałów niestacjonarnych: metodę ciągłej transformaty falkowej i metodę transformaty Wignera-Ville'a. Porównano przydatność w/w metod do analizy uszkodzeń amortyzatorów teleskopowych samochodów osobowych. Do celów porównawczych wykorzystano nowy estymator diagnostyczny. Istotnych zespołem decydującym o bezpieczeństwie jazdy samochodów są elementy tłumiące, którymi są najczęściej hydrauliczne amortyzatory teleskopowe. W Polsce powszechnie w badaniach amortyzatorów zabudowanych w samochodach osobowych stosuje się przestrajalne mechaniczne wzbudniki drgań, w których elementem wymuszającym jest płyta, na którą najeżdża samochód kołem z badanym amortyzatorem. Zastosowane metody analiz wielowymiarowych nadają się do identyfikacji pojedynczego uszkodzenia w diagnostyce amortyzatorów zabudowanych w pojeździe. Rozkład współczynników transformaty falkowej względnych przyśpieszeń drgań, wykres wartości estymatora Wmax przy zmianie objętości płynu, wykres zbiorczy wartości estymatora WmaXi rozkład współczynników WV sygnału względnych przyśpieszeń drgań, wykres zbiorczy wartości estymatora Wmax przy zmianie objętości płynu, wykres zbiorczy wartości estymatora Wmax są prezentowane w artykule.

Personal cars are the largest group of vehicles on the road. Every year a significant increase in this group of vehicles enforces the need to shorten the time of the study of the technical condition on vehicle inspection stations. One of the major components checked during the inspection is vehicle suspension that has a decisive influence on the comfort and safety. Currently, vehicle inspection stations to assess the condition of the suspension mainly use EUSAMA method, which allows obtaining approximate results. The paper presents the verification of the effectiveness and operation of the developed method called Procedure of Matrix Decimation (PMD), which allows for useful application of research results using FFT spectral analysis of nonstationary, transient signals recorded on the vehicle during the EUSAMA test method. Verification of this method of signal processing was done with the use of vibration signals recorded on the vehicle during the EUSAMA test method on vehicle inspection stations. It consists of a comparison of the FFT spectra obtained for the secondary signal (after processing method based on PMD) with STFT analyzes made for the original signal.

Passive security at crash is an importami problem both for road, and aerial vehicles, first case at horizontal collision and second at vertical one, on landing operation on ground or deck. Both generate human and material injuries, many of them with important negative effects. Damper in bumper a known solution for vehicles protection at crash is realized with different damping devices, from passive elements to actuators. Usually the devices are tuned for 5 km/h crash speed and after collision the passive solutions destroy and must be replaced with other new devices. The solutions using standard shock absorbers and actuators are improper the first dissipating insufficient energy and actuators being more expensive and having a long reaction time so the damping coefficient changing is realized in too low steps. VZN damper concept granted with European Patent EP l 190 184 and Romanian Patent RO l 18546, characterized by progressive damping coefficients with the stroke assures protection at crash, due to its capacity to realize constant damping force without mechanisms and electronics, tuning damping characteristic to this desiderate. The paper presents the differences between the energy must to be dissipated at the same crash speed in horizontal and vertical situation, it being increased at vertical situation, due to the gravity. The same paper evaluates the advantages confers by VZN damper concept comparative to standard one, for both vertical and horizontal collision and concludes the VZN one is better 39% at vertical crash and 25% at horizontal crash comparative to standard one, due to its efficient dissipating system.
