Opis:
The increasing complexity of automotive electronic systems is linked to the continuous development of new or adaptation of those already proven has been efficient in other fields of information management. Contemporary vehicles are characterized by great diversity of data exchange used in them ways. Communication protocols proposed and used by car manufacturers, such as the K-line, Can, Lin, and FlexRay have been changing their position as a part of formally adopted group of standards. The article is an attempt to outline the evolution and prospects of implementation of automotive networks, taking into account current technological capabilities as well as the requirements and expectations of potential users. The advantages of Ethernet are proved by the fact, that many of the leading automation companies which developed and popularized the standards of their own network such as Profibus (Siemens), Cc-link (Mitsubishi), Modbus (Modicon/Shneider) for years, move to Ethernet protocols, which is solutions based on the OSI layer 2 -respectively Profinet, CC-Link IE, Modbus TCP. It is a significant difference between industrial and automotive network applications is the difference in desired behaviour of controlled object. In most of the cases in the industrial systems, a proper reaction in critical situations should be to stop the activity of particular elements of controlled plant.

Opis:
The automotive industry (AI) and specifically the automotive suppliers area is one of the fastest developing sector in CE countries (CEC). Given the world-top class supply base, high intellectual capital and ability to readily achieve European levels of productivity, the central part of continent can more competitively satisfy the needs of customers than at any other period of time in Europe. Increase of passenger cars production (2005 – 2012) in 500 km radius area from 1,9 to 5,2 mil., new technology solutions, TALENT and TOLERANCE by human assets, are very important influences and expectations from combination of traditional and V4 countries in this period. CE countries can offer all logistic optimisation, productivity and added value increases. Particular remarks are also analysed: necessity for co-operation by regions and continents in the standards area, the weight of CEC in the global automotive production (1991 - 2011), some influences of human resources on production system innovation, strategy of producers from Europe, Asia, North America in our continent and suppliers in Central Europe countries, R&D and human resources life long learning system for AI in the future.

Opis:
Though the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) systems are wide use in modern vehicles, they are manufactured by a few companies and supplied to engine manufacturers. Automotives with factory made ECUs designed to maximize the performance while minimize cost. However, factory made ECUs (FECU) have closed software and hardware. The control gain, lookup tables, and constants used in the algorithms are also calibrated for a particular engine design. Unlike the carburettor, these systems cannot be opened and studied under different operating conditions to determine their characteristics and how they influence the performance of an engine. They can be used as black boxes and work only at specified modes as determined by their electronic control unit (ECU) and more over the algorithms and their implementation are maintained as trade secret by the developers. In the research work, it often becomes necessary to study parameters like injection duration, injection timing, sensor responses etc. to ascertain their effects. Thus in such cases the factory made ECU supplied with the injection system cannot be used. The required need is fulfilled by developing a customized electronic controller that would be suitable for studying the variations at engine operating points. The project involved the development of a research ECU (RECU) using reconfigurable field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) based embedded control system for a four-stroke port fuel injected gasoline engine. A calibrated fuel map is generated for various operating points of the engine using virtual instrumentation (VI) based software while simulating functions of sensors. From the mapping, the fuel injection time and fuel delivery quantity is estimated for the required running conditions of the engine. The developed Research Electronic Control Unit (RECU) could reveal gasoline engine performance in particular for research-based applications as it involves frequent programme development and control implementations.
