Opis:
The dynamic tensile behavior of a ZrB2-SiC ceramic was investigated via split Hopkinson pressure bar tests and a bond-based peridynamic model. The experimental results showed that the peak dynamic splitting tensile stress increased linearly with the strain rate. The dynamic tensile stress history and fracture pattern exhibited a significant strain-rate dependence. In simulation, the strain-rate dependent on the critical energy release rate was introduced to predict the dynamic tensile behavior of the ZrB2-SiC ceramic. The numerical results were in good agreement with the experimental results, verifying the applicability of the peridynamic model. The maximum error of the peak dynamic splitting tensile stress between the experimental and numerical results was no greater than 6%. Moreover, the effect of the strain rate on the fracture patterns of the ZrB2-SiC ceramic composite can be well predicted by the peridynamics method. The ZrB2-SiC composite specimen split into two large fragments with additional small fragments under dynamic splitting tension. With the increase of strain rate, the main crack propagation and branching led to a larger fracture region in the middle of the specimen.

Opis:
The present study aimed to determine the effect of moisture transmission finish on the performance of knitted cotton fabrics in terms of their tensile strength and moisture transmission behavior. Two groups: single and rib-knit cotton fabrics were collected from Nishat Mills Limited. A moisture management finish was applied onto the collected fabrics. The effect of the applied finish was investigated against their moisture transmission behavior by following the AATCC 195-2009 test procedure. The tensile strength was also evaluated with the ASTM D 5035-11 test method. The difference was studied between finished and unfinished samples. It was concluded that the moisture transmission finish has decreased the absorption rate and spreading speed of water through/in treated fabrics as compared to untreated fabrics. Moreover, breaking load and elongation of knitted fabrics in both directions were also improved with the application of finish.

Opis:
The main aim of this paper is to provide an analytical approach for the nonlinear buckling behaviors of toroidal shell segments made by three layers included honeycomb auxetic-core and two Graphene reinforced face sheets under axial compressive or tensile loads. The auxetic core is designed in a honeycomb form and three distribution laws of Graphene are considered for two symmetric face sheets. The homogenization technique for honeycomb auxetic plates and shells is applied to establish the stiffness formulations of the core. By approximating the doubly curved coordinate to the simpler coordinate with the Stein and McElman assumption, the nonlinear basic equations are formulated using the nonlinear Donnell shell theory and the model of the two-parameter foundation. The Galerkin method can be performed three times for three states of buckling responses and the expressions of the load-deflection postbuckling curves can be determined. The numerical examinations present that the bifurcation buckling occurs with both axial tensile and compressive loads for convex and concave shells and the significantly beneficial effects of auxetic core and functionally graded Graphene reinforced face sheets on nonlinear buckling responses of shell segments.
