Wprowadzenie i cel pracy. Uzyskanie skuteczności antybiotyków to wypadkowa działań wielu osób: zarówno tych, które zlecają ich stosowanie, jak i tych, którym antybiotyk ma pomóc. Właściwe stosowanie antybiotyków to jeden z warunków powstrzymania rozwoju antybiotykooporności bakterii i utrzymania skuteczności ich działania. Celem niniejszej pracy było zapoznanie się ze stanem respektowania zaleceń związanych ze stosowaniem antybiotyków przez uczniów, studentów i osoby powyżej 26. r. ż. Materiał i metoda. W badaniach na terenie Lublina wzięło udział 300 respondentów. Metodą wykorzystaną w badaniach był sondaż diagnostyczny, a techniką ankieta z użyciem autorskiego kwestionariusza. Wyniki. W ciągu ostatnich 12 miesięcy prawie 41% osób powyżej 26. r. ż., 33% studentów i 25% uczniów stosowało antybiotyki – przypisane przez lekarza. Zaobserwowano niekorzystne zjawisko samoleczenia antybiotykami, które respondenci otrzymali od znajomych czy też antybiotykami pozostałymi z poprzednich kuracji (21% ogółu). Tylko 17% badanych uczniów, 18% studentów i 35% osób powyżej 26. r. ż. deklaruje, iż nigdy przedwcześnie nie zakończyło antybiotykoterapii. Grypa jest stanem chorobowym, w którym badani stosują leczniczo antybiotyk. W wiedzy na temat antybiotykoterapii, zarówno młodszych, jak i starszych uczestników badania, występują duże deficyty. Wnioski. 1. Częstość stosowania antybiotykoterapii przez badaną grupę nie odbiega od częstości jej stosowania w Polsce. 2. W badanej populacji pacjentów obserwuje się liczne zachowania antyzdrowotne podczas stosowania antybiotykoterapii.
Introduction and objective: Obtaining the effectiveness of antibiotics is the result of actions by many people, both the person who orders their use, and the one whom an antibiotic is to help. Adequate application of an antibiotic is the precondition for suppressing the development of antibiotic resistance of bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of antibiotic action. The objective of the presented study was to become familiar with the state of adherence of recommendations related with the use of an antibiotic by school adolescents, university students, and population aged over 26. Material and method. The study was conducted by the method of a diagnostic survey using a questionnaire form designed by the author, and covered 300 inhabitants of Lublin. Results. Within the last 12 months, nearly 41% of respondents aged over 26, 33% university students, and 25% school adolescents, used antibiotics prescribed by a physician. An unfavourable phenomenon was observed of self-treatment with antibiotics obtained by the respondents from acquaintances, or those left over from the last medication (21% of the total number of respondents). Only 17% of school adolescents, 18% of students, and 35% of individuals aged over 26 examined declared that they had never stopped taking antibiotics early. Flu is a pathological state in which the respondents apply medication with an antibiotic. Large deficits of knowledge were noted both among younger and older participants of the study. Conclusions: 1. Frequency of using antibiotic therapy by the population group in the study did not differ from the frequency of its use in Poland. 2. In the examined population of patients many anti-health behaviours were observed during the use of antibiotic therapy.

Opis:
Rickettsia spp. transmitted by ticks are classified mostly in the Spotted Fever Group Rickettsiae (SFGR). Numerous species of this group have been identified in Eurasia as emerging pathogens, but still little is known about their occurrence, effects on human health, and co-incidence with other tick-borne pathogens. The aim of the presented study was to determine the prevalence of Rickettsia spp. in adult Dermacentor reticulatus (Acari: Amblyommidae) ticks collected in Lublin province of eastern Poland using the PCR method. The infection rate of D. reticulatus with Rickettsia spp. was 53.0%. All except one rickettsial isolates showed 100% homology with Rickettsia raoultii. A high prevalence of R. raoultii in Dermacentor reticulatus ticks from eastern Poland suggests that the SFGR species should be considered as potential causative agents of tick-borne diseases in this area.
