Opis:: This article presents the potential applications and scenarios for the implementation of a software-defined radio (SDR) module operating as a base station in 4G/5G networks. The paper presents test configurations of the srsRAN software environment in conjunction with various types of programmable radio modules. Then, the key performance metrics of the mobile telephony system and potential problems that may be encountered while implementing hardware and software layers are presented.

Opis:: Home broadband access is continuously demanding more bandwidth fueled by video streaming, entertainment and gaming applications. In 2010, a company INEA decided to roll-out new WiMAX-based services aimed to meet the needs of home users across theWielkopolska region of western Poland. It was decided to follow the 802.16e standard and the Time Division Duplexing (TDD) mode that oer the ability to adjust the downlink/uplink ratio and thus are well suited for data transmission. After an extensive testing period of equipment from various vendors, engineers at INEA have chosen the Motorola (currently Cambium Networks) PMP320 solution because it is compact and its components are space- and energy-ecient. The company choice was also influenced by its simple operation, management and installation, which ensured low costs of ownership. So far, this deployment has provided fast and aordable connectivity for Internet and telephony services to around 5,500 households across the 30,000 sq. km region. After 3 years of experience, INEA would like to share the lessons learned from this roll-out.

Opis:: W artykule przeanalizowano zakresy częstotliwości, które mogą być wykorzystane w systemach radia kognitywnego, przy założeniu obecnych i planowanych przeznaczeń częstotliwości w Polsce (w tym także w kontekście przeznaczeń europejskich) oraz istniejącego planu zagospodarowania poszczególnych zakresów częstotliwości. Analizę przeprowadzono uwzględniając możliwość wprowadzenia sieci radia kognitywnego w wybranych częściach widma, w tym w pasmach licencjonowanych oraz nielicencjonowanych, w sposób scentralizowany lub rozproszony.
The article analyzes the frequency bands which can be used by cognitive radio systems in the future, assuming the current and planned frequency allocation in Poland (including in the context of recommended European common allocations), and the existing frequency management plan. The analysis has been performed taking into account the possibility of implementation of cognitive radio networks in some parts of the radio spectrum, including licensed and unlicensed frequency bands., by the centralized or distributed method.

Opis:: Our aim is to develop the method of location subscriber to be used in military communication nets. This method is based on frequency offset measurement. Analytic description of the Doppler effect creates one of such possibilities. In this paper, an original location subscriber method is presented. We showed the Maxwell equations solution in the case of a transmitter continually changing location in relation to a receiver. It makes possible to calculate exactly the value of the received signal parameters especially frequency offset. The methodology described in this paper shows that the Doppler frequency offset value can be used for radio signal sources location.

Opis:: The availability of dynamic resource management will be crucial for the deployment of future wireless systems characterized by high data rate services with rigid quality of service demands. Flexible radios appear as the technological answer required to achieve constraint goals under different channel conditions and transmission scenarios. This paper is focused on enhancing another step of flexibility within the resource management by including an efficient handling of computing resources. This concept towards flexible architectures represents a key word for a real successful implementation due to the relationship between the radio applications, which face the scarcity of resources within a heterogeneous environment, and the processing power needed to execute them.

Opis:: The article presents the application of a new analytical model of the full-availability group carrying a mixture of different multi-rate traffic classes with compression property for modeling the WCDMA radio interface with packet scheduling. The proposed model can be directly used for modeling of theWCDMA interface in the UMTS network servicing different traffic classes. The described model can be applied for a validation of the efficiency of the WCDMA interface measured by the blocking probability and the average carried traffic for particular traffic classes.

Opis:: The paper concerns radio amateur satellites that are built by international student teams. For contacting a satellite, a single ground station is usually used. In this configuration and with the satellite on the low Earth orbit (LEO), teams have contact only for about 40 minutes per day. If the satellite has service for radio amateurs, they use it for 20 hours per day. A lot of them have connection to Internet. This is a big difference. In this paper, is shown how they can use the radio amateur transceivers and antenna systems in order to build ground stations network named distributed ground station system (DGSS). Frequencies, types of modulations, calculation of power budge, and the ways to control amateur stations by the Internet are also shown. These are essential procedures, because radio amateurs have their standards and habits. Finally a proposal of implementation dedicated DGSS system for radio amateurs with and without use of APRS network is put forward. Distributed ground station is one of the experiments on PW-Sat satellite, which is being build on the Warsaw University of Technology.

Opis:: This article attempts to outline an information system that will provide data for decision-making by governments, their contractors, international consortia, private companies, and other entities interested in radiocommunications. The proposed system will harmonize national and international radio frequency spectrum management, and will integrate the existing computer resources within one computer network. It will contain the complete data on current use of radio frequencies around the world and offer specialized computer tools to facilitate the technical coordination analyses required when a new radio station is proposed. The system will help to manage the radio frequency spectrum resources and to satisfy the increasing frequency demand for new radio services and systems. It will affect strongly the spectrum management, independently of any other reform such as simplification of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Radio Regulations. The new system will be the expected " next step" after the decisions of the recent Additional Plenipotentiary Conference (APP-92). After presenting the background, we discuss current problems in radio frequency spectrum management such as the role of new partners, fragmentation and inefficiency. Section 3 outlines the concept of the system. Comments on implementation are given in section 4 and concluding remarks in section 5.

Opis:: Recently, much interest has been directed towards software defined radios and embedded intelligence in telecommunication devices. However, no fundamental basis for cognitive radios has ever been proposed. In this paper, we introduce a fundamental vision of cognitive radios from a physical layer viewpoint. Specifically, our motivation in this work is to embed human-like intelligence in mobile wireless devices, following the three century-old work on Bayesian probability theory, the maximum entropy principle and minimal probability update. This allows us to partially answer such questions as, what are the signal detection capabilities of a wireless device, when facing a situation in which most parameters are missing, how to react and so on. As an introductory example, we will present previous works from the same authors following the cognitive framework, and especially the multi-antenna channel modeling and signal sensing.
