Opis:
Orientating oneself to time and work for the future is considered a substantive compo-nent of the autoregulative process. It is also important to students ́ mental regulation, which is closely related to academic success. The factor of time in human life has been approached in psychology in a variety of ways. We will focus primarily on those concepts which study time and detect time patterns in motivational dynamics of personality. The concepts of Joel O. Ray-nor, Torgrim Gjesme, Joseph R. Nuttin and Philip G. Zimbardo will be mentioned. Of Czech authors, the “perspective orientation” by Isabella Pavelková is presented. We will discuss diagnostic methods used in the measurement of time perspective, especially the Motivation Induction Method (MIM – J.R. Nuttin). Secondly, we will present selected researches that have been carried out in this fi eld in the Czech Republic. These studies are focused primarily on issues related to the identifi cation, development, and opportunities of internal assump-tions conditioning the character and quality of an individual ́s future.

Opis:
The article focuses on relationship between time perspective and place of residen-ce. Five hundred and eleven Ukrainian participants completed the Zimbardo Time Per-spective Inventory [Ukrainian language version by Oksana Senyk (Senyk, 2012)] and a questionnaire that included the question about participants’ current place of residence and their place of residence in childhood. Answers to the questionnaire made it possible to consider in the research respondents’ change of residential place and its relation to the formation of different time orientations. The results have shown that the individu-al’s time perspective is influenced not by the specific life situation represented by his past or current place of residence, but upon his whole life story that includes changing different residential settlements. The research has also indicated that among all types of settlements rural settlements most significantly contribute to the development of time orientation towards a positive past.

Opis:
Aim. The article is aimed at proving the hypothesis that there are significant correlations between the defense mechanisms and the perception of time perspective in young people under the conditions of war. Methods. The study was held in May 2022 with the involvement of students who were relocated to the west of Ukraine from the eastern regions due to active hostilities. The following research methods were used: survey; psychological testing (Life Style Index, Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory); statistic analysis. Results. The study shows that the most common defense mechanisms of young people during the war are: repression, projection and displacement. At the same time, men use the defense mechanism of projection more often than women, and women are more prone to regression. It is determined that young people during the war are the least oriented towards the future. Also, there are very few who would perceive the past negatively. Conclusion. The data obtained during the research indicate the need to develop a program of psychological support for young people during the war, which would allow: to develop awareness of one's own experiences, defense mechanisms, ways of ecologically living through traumatic experience; to form a healthier attitude to time, which would include planning for the future at least for the short term and would contribute to increasing motivation for life and self-development.

Opis:
Aim: the goal of this study is to investigate the motivational structure of participants of Chemistry Olympiad summer camps. The participants are young students who achieved  the best results in chemistry olympiads. Chemistry is one of the least popular subjects among czech students and therefore is important to understand what motivates extraordinary, or gifted students, to learn. Methods: participants (N=38) completed a combination of qualitative and/or quantitative questionnaires. The primary questionnaire, known as the Motivational Induction Method (MIM), is a quality-quantitative questionnaire that uses the principle of open-ended questions. This method can provided a deep understanding of participants´ plans, desires and wishes but also fears, inhibitions or problems. Other questionnaires used were: the Learning Motivation questionnaire and the Achievement Motivation questionnaire which measure the sources of motivation and proportion of achievement needs, respectively. Result: the MIM questionnaire, providing qualitative-quantitative analysis, showed that participants´motivation was mainly focused on self (identity) and contact with others (social motivation). The Learning Motivation questionnaires revealed that the two most important motivational sources for learning chemistry were: one, the acquisition of a good profession in the future (instrumental motivation); and two, cognitive movitavation, or simply the positive feeling one experiences from learning something new.  The Achievement Motivational questionnaires revealed that participants´ need to avoid failure was lower in comparison to general pupils.

Opis:
Thesis. The ability to set long-term goals is associated with lower levels of Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU), but the pandemic has interrupted the established planning strategies. This study aims to clarify the differences in the planning horizons before and during the pandemic for people with different levels of IU. Methods. The study was conducted in March-April 2021. 120 respondents filled in Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale, short form (IUS-12), Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZPTI) and answered two additional questions about the duration of the planning period. Then comparison and correlation analyses were conducted. Results. Respondents with different levels of IU also differ in terms of their Time Perspective (TP) profiles. During the pandemic, average planning horizons became shorter for all respondents. The subgroup with low IU showed that planning is associated with the present TP scales. There was a direct association between attitudes towards the Future and planning horizons in the subgroup with average IU level. Planning horizons associated with Past Negative and Present Fatalistic TP were present in the group with high IU level. Conclusion. During the pandemic, levels of IU and planning horizons have shown an inverse relationship. The pandemic and inability to plan in advance in a habitual way primarily affect people who tend to feel confused in conditions of uncertainty and insecurity, that is, people with high scores on the Inhibitory Anxiety scale in the IU questionnaire. Peculiarities of how the planning strategies change in subgroups with different levels of IU before and during the pandemic are discussed.
