    Opis:
    Background. Youth football in Wielkopolska (Greater Poland Voivodship) has always been treated in a special, preferential way. Since the first sport associations were set up more than 100 years ago, football in Wielkopolska has had many sporting as well as organisational achievements. Wielkopolska was the first region in the country where a youth league was established. The town of Sieraków was the place where the first Junior Football Championship was held. Furthermore, the Wielkopolska Voivodship was also a pioneer in organising football championships for children under 13. It was also the home of the first women’s football club. The aim of this study was to find out what determines football development and to what extent football players have contributed to the successes of Poland national football team. Material and methods. Qualitative research was used. It based on documents found in the Archives of Football Association in Poznan and private archives and information published in the local press. Results. The analysis shows that the unquestionable successes of Wielkopolska football clubs result from the obligation imposed on the best local clubs to create youth teams as well as the passion and dedication of the clubs’ volunteers and employees.

    The aim of this research paper is: first, to explore the relations between music and football, second, to discuss football as a cultural phenomenon which plays a crucial role in the process of social communication. The thesis of the article is based on the belief that sport games may be considered a cultural and artistic show, during which behavioral patterns, as increasingly intensified due to emotions, come to light. I am especially interested in the type of music used to cheer the players, the one used as a tool of a political manifesto or the one which plays a role of special sporting event anthem. In this paper I attempt to analyze different music elements in football, referring to, among others, the theories of John MacAloon, Richard Schechner, Jean Alter, Tomasz Sahaj and Jerzy Kosiewicz.

    Opis:
    Cel badań. Celem badań było przedstawienie rozwoju oraz największych osiągnięć sportowych klubów piłkarskich działających w granicach administracyjnych powiatu nowotomyskiego w latach 1946–2018. Materiał i metody. Podstawową metodą badawczą była analiza źródeł historycznych. Ponadto posłużono się metodą indukcyjną, dedukcyjną, statystyczną i komparatystyczną. Wyniki. Po II wojnie światowej na terenie powiatu nowotomyskiego koła Ludowych Zespołów Sportowych działały prawie w każdej wsi, a wiodącą dyscypliną w ich działalności była piłka nożna. Rozwój tej dyscypliny sportu przebiegał podobnie jak w innych tego typu regionach. Początkowo drużyny działały nieformalnie, rozgrywając mecze towarzyskie. Z biegiem czasu zaczęły brać udział w organizowanych w okolicy turniejach, później zgłaszały się do klasy „W” prowadzonej przez Radę Powiatową Zrzeszenia LZS, by po nabraniu doświadczenia organizacyjnego przystąpić do rozgrywek związkowych w Okręgowym Związku Piłki Nożnej. Nie wszystkim drużynom udawało się utrzymać poziom ligowy i po kilku sezonach wycofywano je z rozgrywek. Najczęstszym powodem były kłopoty finansowe oraz organizacyjne. Wnioski. Drużyny piłkarskie reprezentujące Z LZS z powiatu nowotomyskiego nie osiągały spektakularnych sukcesów. Szczytem ich możliwości był udział w rozgrywkach ligowych na czwartym poziomie. Kilku piłkarzom udało się jednak spełnić sportowe marzenia i zagrać w najwyższych klasach rozgrywkowych. Świadczy to o tym, że również na ziemi nowotomyskiej nie brakowało piłkarskich talentów na skalę ogólnopolską.
    Background. The article aim is to present the development and the greatest achievements of sports football clubs operating within the administrative borders of the Nowy Tomyśl district in 1946–2018. Material and methods. The basic research method was the analysis of historical sources. In addition, the inductive, deductive, statistical, and comparative methods were used. Results. After the Second World War, in the area of the Nowy Tomyśl district, Ludowe Zespoły Sportowe circles operated in almost every village, and the leading discipline in their activity was football. Football developed similarly as in other such regions. Initially, the teams acted informally, playing friendly matches. Over time, they began to take part in tournaments organized in the area, later they applied to the ‘W’ class conducted by the District Board of the Ludowe Zespoły Sportowe Union, and, after gathering organizational experience, they entered District Football Association matches. Some teams did not manage to maintain the league level and after several seasons they were withdrawn from the competition. The most common reasons were financial and organizational problems. Conclusions. Football teams representing the Ludowe Zespoły Sportowe Union from the Nowy Tomyśl district failed to achieve spectacular successes. The peak of their abilities was to participate in fourth level league games. However, some players managed to fulfil their sports dreams and play in the highest league games. This proves that there were football talents on a national scale in the land of Nowy Tomyśl.

    Background. The psychosocial prototype of the sports situation in a specific sports discipline is shaped by repetitive psychosocial standards of the situation. The most characteristic dimensions referring to a prototype sports situation include the maximization of action, motor activity, social reception, long-lasting training, and competitiveness. So far, the issue has been discussed in relation to many sports disciplines, however not yet football. Hence, the objective of the research was to determine the importance and intensity of the specific dimensions of the sports situation in football that created its psychosocial prototype. We adopted the five dimensions mentioned above among factors in our research. Material and methods. The applied research tool was the Scale of Sports Situation Dimensions. In a selected group, we employed the criterion of competence. Results and conclusions. The study showed that the most characteristic dimension of the prototype sports situation in football was social reception, followed by competitiveness, long-lasting training, motor activity, and maximization of action. As for football, there is a variation between different dimensions, so one may say that the structure of the prototype sports situation is created by two groups of dimensions.

    Praca obejmuje zagadnienia teorii konkurencji i rynku sportu jako szczegółowej dyscypliny ekonomicznej, a w tym budżetów klubów Ekstraklasy oraz ich wpływu na końcowy wynik sportowy w sezonie rozgrywkowym 2014/2015. Aby udowodnić przyjętą w artykule tezę, zastosowano analizę porównawczą, wprowadzając dwa kryteria: kryterium wielkości budżetu i kryterium wyniku sportowego. Główna teza wysunięta w opracowaniu brzmi „Wielkość budżetu klubu nie decyduje o zwycięstwie w Ekstraklasie ani miejscu klubu w tabeli” i stanowi przeciwieństwo opinii większości analityków i ekspertów piłki nożnej, która wskazuje: „Pokaż mi swój budżet, a powiem ci, które miejsce zajmiesz w lidze i czy zostaniesz mistrzem”. Analiza porównawcza przeprowadzona pomiędzy wymienionymi przeciwstawnymi stwierdzeniami w oparciu o przyjęte kryteria wykazała słuszność założeń tezy. Wyniki badań grupy mistrzowskiej Ekstraklasy pozwoliły dowieść, że pieniądze na piłkarskim boisku nie są źródłem sukcesu sportowego. Wielkość budżetów klubów piłkarskich nie tylko nie koresponduje z ich miejscami w tabeli, ale stanowi ich całkowite zaprzeczenie.
    The article aims at the assessment of the organisation of mass sports events, such as the Polish Ekstraklasa football matches. On the basis of the available research and analyses provided by various authors, it should be stated that money is among the main factors of sports success but it is not the only one. Research shows that sports abilities and strategic sports management are invaluable for the final score. Considering all the mentioned facts, one should reject the thesis that high budget is the main factor of sports success.

    Background. At the end of the 19th century, football development among the Polish youth inhabiting the Greater Poland region, then under the Prussian annexation, was strictly connected with political events. The native language was forbidden; creating truly Polish associations, including sports clubs, was also banned. However, the Polish people tried to reinforce the Polish spirit and promote patriotic values. Young Poles courageously developed football in Greater Poland at that time. The main objective of the study was to provide examples of patriotic activities bound with football competitions under the Prussian and Nazi occupation. Material and methods. The authors employed the methods of historic source analysis, induction, deduction, synthesis, and comparison. Results and conclusions. The hard times of annexation and World War II did not inhibit the growth of football in Greater Poland. Indeed, they contributed to its development. Polish sports associations were often established in conspiracy, and football competitions were not only a matter of sport but also a way to manifest the national consciousness.

    Background. The aim of the study was to develop cognitive models of efficiency of male footballers during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In addition, this study tried to determine the efficiency level of shots and passes of the ball based on: activity, efficiency and reliability of players’ actions. Material and methods. While developing play models, the author used materials collected on the basis of the system of analysing players’ performance, so-called the Castrol Performance Index. It includes the performances of all 599 players who participated in the tournament. The univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) for individual classification was used in statistical analysis. The post-hoc test was applied when significant differences occurred. Results. Among the teams playing in the three systems of play analysed here, there were no essential differences in the efficiency of shots to the goal. However, significant differences appeared in activity (p = 0.006), efficiency (p = 0.008) and reliability (p = 0.049) in passing the ball between the teams using the 1–4–2–3–1 system and those preferring the 1–4–4–2 system. The significant difference was also found in higher frequency of passes of footballers playing the 1-4-2-3-1 system when compared to the teams using the 1–4–3–3 system. Additionally, in certain lengths of passes appeared similar dependencies. The key element in the 1–4–2–3–1 system is arranging the team in 5 lines, which results in significant number of passes made. It favours a combinatorial play, thus providing an opportunity to exchange a great number of passes, especially of short and medium lengths. Key words: operational efficiency, the World Cup, football

    Background. The aim of this paper was to create cognitive models reflecting the efficiency of actions of players in individual positions existing in a modern system of play organization on the basis of a praxeological theory of team sport games. Furthermore, an attempt was made to determine the efficiency of individual and team actions of the studied teams according to the current player’s position. Material and methods. The research material consisted of 21 semi-final and final matches played during the most important football tournaments in the years 2002–2008. Actions of 26 teams playing in the 1–4–2–3–1 system of play organization were analysed. Results. It was found that the efficiency of actions of individual footballers playing according to a certain system of play organization is dependent on the position in the formation. Conclusions. Patterns of efficiency of actions of footballers playing in particular positions should be used to create models of play for lower level players.

    Background. The aim of this paper was to present the effect of the situational factors on the frequency and duration of stoppages in football matches. Material and methods. The course of the seven matches held in the final phase of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil was examined. The results of the observation were next subjected to statistical analysis. Results and conclusion. The outcomes of this study demonstrated that the frequency and duration of stoppages in football matches depended on the situational factors of the game. Fouls and scratches and throw-ins reduce the effective playing time the most as they cause stoppages most frequently. The longest average duration of stoppages is caused by such factors as other events, fouls and scratches. The 15-minute sequences of the matches vary significantly in respect of the number and duration of stoppages. In the last sequences of each half of the analyzed matches, the duration of stoppages was longer and the number of them was respectively higher.

    This article attempts to trace out the operation of social activists and their responsibility for the development of football in 1945–1989 in the province of Olsztyn. In the early post-war years, soccer teams were created by newly established institutions and companies. This situation led to trade particularism, strong support of football players and the occurrence of behavior problems. At the same time, not much work was accomplished in the training matters. After October 1956, changes in the model of physical culture spurred social activities in the country. Thus the central provision of football development encouraged social activists in the Olsztyn area to create a cozy environment for their operation. With a large number of teams in the province, it quickly became the largest and most demanding group. They claimed financial support, often not being controlled. During those years, there was no clear long-term concept of football development. The provincial sports authorities and the political party were to be blamed for the state of affairs. All this situation contributed to the “sloppiness” of football in the region.

    Opis:
    The aim of this article is to present opinions of the managers of tourist accommodation establishments in Wrocław on their economic benefits from being one of the host cities of the European Football Championship. The study confirmed the fact that the European Football Championship was an important event for tourism sector, especially for hotel industry. In the survey which was conducted six months before the event, the managers highlighted positive changes in the tourism sector caused by EURO 2012. They expected both shortand long-terms significant benefits. The results were compared with the first estimates of attendance and spending of tourists who stayed in Wrocław during the tournament. The initial data show that, as it was expected, the EURO 2012 tournament generated benefits for the accommodation sector of tourism industry in Wrocław and it will also generate further economic benefits in the future, contributing positively to tourism development in the city.
