Opis:
Evaluation of accuracy of position coordinates’ determination in respect to floating marks, with free adjustment method applied, has been a target of the paper. General theory of geodesic adjustment – classical one based on least squares method and free adjustment – is presented in its first part. Main part contains description of the research. It was conducted based on geometric navigational structure which elements had been formed by beacons placed in the Bay of Gdańsk. It consisted in simulating results of measurements made in respect to marks of this structure (bearings and distances) and calculating the position coordinates based on them, as well as its accuracy. The calculations were made with the method of classical geodesic adjustment and free adjustment applied. Discussion about obtained results of the research and general conclusions are given in the ending part of the article.

Opis:
This article attempts to determine the rules for lawful use of floating objects for residential purposes. It presents the currently existing legal solutions applied in Europe for such floating structures. Further, the article describes a classification of residential floating objects from the legal perspective. The existing regulations are analyzed with regard to the provisions of the Water Law Act and the Inland Navigation Act. Moreover, the paper describes three different types of water usage, i.e. common, ordinary and special, and discusses in which of these forms the residential use of public waters falls. The analysis allows for the determination of the directions of further research, so that an accurate procedure ensuring a lawful use of houseboats can be adopted.

Opis:
This article analyzes the concept of multipurpose inland residential platforms. It presents the existing solutions and the applications of floating residential structures in Europe, including houseboats and floating barges. Further on, the paper describes the possibilities and main purposes of using multipurpose inland platforms (residential, tourist or military). In addition, an algorithm is presented for selecting the right concept depending on the demand and the infrastructural conditions of inland harbors and marinas. Three variants of residential platforms are identified and the features of some of the solutions are discussed. The expected benefits for different sectors of the economy derived from using residential platforms are also explored. The aforementioned analysis prescribes the directions for further research aiming to ensure effective implementation of the presented concepts.

Opis:
In this paper, the second-order hydrodynamic force on fixed and floating tandem cylinders has been calculated and different parameters have been taken into consideration. An incident wave is diffracted by the fixed cylinder, and as a result low-frequency waves radiate toward the floating cylinder and cause low-frequency second-order hydrodynamic forces to act on the surface of the floating cylinder. The interactions between the fixed and floating cylinders have been investigated by changing the distance between them, as well as the draft and radius of the floating cylinder. By employing perturbation series analysis over the wetted surface, the second-order wave excitation force has been calculated. The maximum force applied on the floating cylinder becomes non-dimensional when considering it with and without the fixed cylinder. The results showed the effect that the existence of the fixed cylinder had on the increase in the second-order forces is quite evident where, for a significant parameter of the floating cylinder, the force in the heave direction was enhanced by up to 1.55 times.

Opis:
In this paper, to improve the mechanical behavior of DeepCwind semi-submersible floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) platform mooring lines, the nonlinear catenary cables of the platform were divided into multi-segment and intermediate buoys. Mathematical formulations of the boundary element method (BEM) governing the dynamics of mooring line systems with buoy devices were described. This study was applied to the OC4-DeepCwind semi-submersible FOWT platform, which is designed for a 200-meter water depth with mooring lines consisting of three catenary steel chain cables at 120° angles to each other. The dynamic response of the multi-segment catenary mooring lines with different buoy radiuses and different positions along the cables was investigated. The full-scale platform was modeled in ANSYS-AQWA software, and the simulations were performed under harsh offshore conditions. The mooring line’s general arrangement, tension, strain and uplift force for different buoy radiuses and their position along the cable are presented and discussed. Moreover, platform motions in three directions (surge, heave, and pitch) were also analyzed. It was concluded that by correctly selecting the buoy volume and position along the cable, the tension of the cable may be reduced by up to 45%. By incorrectly selecting the buoy, the results caused adverse effects.

Opis:
Seas and oceans occupy approx. 71% of the Earth. On their surface wave action of stronger or weaker magnitude can be observed throughout a major part of the year. Wind-generated wave action contains energy, which can be retrieved and used for electrical current production. The paper shows what energy is contained in wind-generated waves on various ocean areas, presents dynamics of water movement in a wave as well as several examples of calculation results of the velocity of water particles and hydrodynamic pressures occurring in a wave.

Opis:
Wind is such an element of sea environment, from which it is relatively easy to obtain energy. Wind parameters over both seas and oceans are more favorable than those on land (due to variability of landform features). Moreover, also sea wind turbines exercise comparatively smaller negative effect on people than on land. Therefore, sea wind farms are ahead of us, as further development of wind energy. The article presents basic parameters of wind turbines, possible installations on sea bed, as well as future designs of large floating sea farms. The article presents also an example of design analyses of wind turbine, using computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
