    Father Franciszek Manthey (1904–1971) is a man shaped by two cultures: Polish and German. This is typical of the Pomerania inhabitants in his generation. This is a great cultural inheritance, but often becomes problematic when it comes to determining national belonging. Such a particular situation raised in him the question of national identification which resulted in a theological reflection on the “little homeland” (German: Heimat). This became the starting point to create an interesting concept of national-religious identity, which he builds in relation to biblical theology, creatology and theological anthropology. Manthey claims that a person by virtue of its ontological structure, corporeal and spiritual, has a twofold sense of home. First, this is a little homeland – a country of childhood, growth and development, determining personal worldview and values. The other is God – the ultimate goal and homeland of man. Such a concept of man determines theattitudes of each individual which manifests itself in the space of faith by fulfilling duties to the small homeland and to the service of God.

    Opis:
    „Generation Y” is a term proposed among others by Zygmunt Bauman to characterize the youngest generation of contemporary societies, largely shaped by postmodernism. Postmodernist world of chaotic difference, temporary character, and uncertainty has significant effects on a person who is spilt over to no identity or many different identities and becomes in her life the tool and consumer without personality. In this context, the identity is losing sustainability and human person is losing the identity uniqueness. Awareness of subjectivity, identity and development of personal and spiritual spheres of life, as well as a reference to fundamental human values can bring solution for the postmodern person. Such development is possible when at the starting point we consider human person as a whole and unity. It cannot be limited to scientific, fragmented, and reduced to the material dimension of human existence. Life without its fundamental spiritual values loses not only its meaning but leads to self-destruction. The way to find the meaning and value of human life, as well as its dignity, is a return to classic solutions philosophy that recognizes the man as a person.

    Father Franciszek Sawicki is considered to be one of the most important philosophers of the interwar period in Poland. The problem of love must be regarded as one of the most significant among many issues he focused on in his research. Sawicki, one of the precursors of personalistic thinking, understands the essence of love as it functions in a personal relationship. Above all, we should distinguish two areas for the realisation of love: love in relation to God and love in relation to another human being. In both instances, Sawicki emphasises the need to take into account the "erotic moment" for the sake of full and proper understanding thereof. The erotic moment elucidates love as a force that engages not only the emotional and volitional spheres, but also the categorical and existential ones. This approach enables us to appreciate the full dimension of human sexuality as it pertains to the human being and ameliorate the tendency to depreciate or idolise it.
