Opis:
For a densely defined nonnegative symmetric operator A = L*(2)L1 in a Hilbert space, constructed from a pair L1 ⊂ L2 of closed operators, we give expressions for the Friedrichs and Krein nonnegative selfadjoint extensions. Some conditions for the equality (L*(2)L1)* = L*(1)L2 are obtained. Applications to 1D nonnegative Hamiltonians, corresponding to point interactions, are given.

Opis:
We study the abstract boundary value problem defined in terms of the Green identity and introduce the concept of Weyl operator function M(·) that agrees with other definitions found in the current literature. In typical cases of problems arising from the multidimensional partial equations of mathematical physics the function M(·) takes values in the set of unbounded densely defined operators acting on the auxiliary boundary space. Exact formulae are obtained and essential properties of M(·) are studied. In particular, we consider boundary problems defined by various boundary conditions and justify the well known procedure that reduces such problems to the "equation on the boundary" involving the Weyl function, prove an analogue of the Borg-Levinson theorem, and link our results to the classical theory of extensions of symmetric operators.

Opis:
Recently, in some negotiation application areas, the usual assumption that negotiators are symmetric has been relaxed. In particular, weights have been introduced to the Nash Bargaining Solution to reflect the different powers of the players. Yet, we feel that operating with non-symmetric bargaining solutions and their implications is not well understood. We analyze the properties and optimization of the non-symmetric Nash Bargaining Solution and of a non-symmetric Kalai–Smorodinsky Bargaining Solution. We provide extensive comparative statics, then comment on the implications of the concepts in supply chain coordination contexts.

Opis:
The research included in the paper concerns a class of symmetric block Jacobi matrices. The problem of the approximation of eigenvalues for a class of a self-adjoint unbounded operators is considered. We estimate the joint error of approximation for the eigenvalues, numbered from 1 to N, for a Jacobi matrix J by the eigenvalues of the finite submatrix J(n) of order pn x pn, where N = max{k ∈ N : k ≤ rpn} and r ∈ (0, 1) is suitably chosen. We apply this result to obtain the asymptotics of the eigenvalues of J in the case p = 3.

improved conjugate gradient-type iterative algorithm (ICSYM)
Opis:
Computational effort is a common issue for solving large-scale complex symmetric linear systems, particularly in quantum chemistry applications. In order to alleviate this problem, we propose a parallel algorithm of improved conjugate gradient-type iterative (ICSYM). Using three-term recurrence relation and or- thogonal properties of residual vectors to replace the tridiagonalization process of classical CSYM, which allows to decrease the degree of the reduce-operator from two to one communication at each iteration and to reduce the amount of vector updates and vector multiplications. Several numerical examples are implemented to show that high performance of proposed improved version is obtained both in convergent rate and in parallel efficiency.

We deal with a symbolic approach to the cubic decomposition (CD) of polynomial sequences - presented in a previous article referenced herein - which allows us to compute explicitly the first elements of the nine component sequences of a CD. Properties are investigated and several experimental results are discussed, related to the CD of some widely known orthogonal sequences. Results concerning the symmetric character of the component sequences are established.

The class of Nevanlinna families consists of R-symmetric holomorphic multivalued functions on C \ R with maximal dissipative (maximal accumulative) values on C+ (C-, respectively) and is a generalization of the class of operator-valued Nevanlinna functions. In this note Nevanlinna families are realized as Weyl families of boundary relations induced by multiplication operators with the independent variable in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces.

Let J and R be anti-commuting fundamental symmetries in a Hilbert space ℘. The operators J and R can be interpreted as basis (generating) elements of the complex Clifford algebra Cl2(J,R) := span{I, J;R, iJR}. An arbitrary non-trivial fundamental symmetry from Cl2(J,R) is determined by the formula [formula]. Let S be a symmetric operator that commutes with Cl2(J,R). The purpose of this paper is to study the sets [formula] of self-adjoint extensions of S in Krein spaces generated by fundamental symmetries [formula]. We show that the sets [formula] and [formula] are unitarily equivalent for different [formula] and describe in detail the structure of operators [formula] with empty resolvent set.
