Opis:
Bełchatow Lignite Mine is the largest producer of lignite in Poland with estimated coal reserves of 700 million tons. The mine excavates two lignite deposits Bełchatow and Szczercow. The Szczercow lignite deposit occupies the western part of the Kleszczow trough, located in the Polish Lowlands. The main part of the lithostratigraphic profile of the Szczercow lignite deposit is a multilayer coal complex, whose thickness varies from 1 to 180 m, with the overburden ratio of 2.84:1. The average thickness of the balance lignite amounts to 40 m. The carbonaceous coefficient of the coal complex in the predominant part of the deposit is over 70%, but locally reaches even up to 100%. Lignite from the Szczercow deposit is of an average technological quality. It typically contains 51.7% of total moisture, 23.6% of ash on dry basis, 3.36% total sulphur recalculated to dry basis, and a net calorific value of 7.33 MJ/kg. Random reflectance (R0) is 0.27% with huminite group macerals averaging at 85%. According to the International Classification of In-Seam Coals and Low Rank Coal Utlization, the technological code of the lignite from the Szczercow deposit is: humic low-rank C (orto-lignite) 19 51 23 33. Similarities between the quality parameters of lignite from the Szczercow and Bełchatow deposits will allow it to be burned in the Bełchatow lignite-fired power plant and may give a chance to extend its activity after the completion of lignite mining from the Bełchatow deposit.

Opis:
In economies with relatively short free-market traditions, enterprises are highly exposed to general economic risk, including fluctuations in the business cycle, which may result in the limitation of their development opportunities and discourage them from undertaking business activity. Having regard to the aforementioned circumstances, the main goal of this article is to assess the exposure of Polish enterprises to the risk related to changes in the economic situation. To achieve the goal set in such a manner, the first part of the article covers the grounds for the undertaken research along with an overview of the literature concerning the presented issues. In the second part of the article, the results of the risk assessment and the relationships of its level to the course of the business cycle in Poland during the years of 2000 to 2015 are shown. In the process of risk measurement, the statistical measures of variability and dynamics indices regarding the financial results of Polish enterprises are used. Whereas, in the course of determining the changes in the business cycle, the author makes use of the changes in the level of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The paper examines the impact of highways of urban significance on surrounding areas. The authors substantiated the size of the road effect zone. In order to determine the quantitative extent of the impact of highways on surrounding areas, the scholars applied the data regarding the selling prices of land plots with various designated purpose, i.e. the estimated money value of land is the indicator of determining the road effect on surrounding areas. Since a great number of factors affects the value of these land plots, in order to determine the road effect for highways, the authors developed economic and statistical models for expert value of land plots with various designated purpose using the method of multiple regression analysis. After substituting different values of distances to a highway within the road effect zone in the model, the researchers established the patterns of change in the value of land plots with various designated purpose and calculated the adjustment factors that can be used in the pecuniary valuation of land plots. The value of such coefficients for residential construction land is 0.85–1.00; for commercial land it is 1.00–1.17; and for industrial land it is 1.00–1.01.The paper examines the impact of highways of urban significance on surrounding areas.
