Opis:
The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is one of the standard languages that are used in modeling software; therefore, UML is widely taught in many universities. Generally, teachers assign students to build UML diagram designs based on a predetermined project; however, the assessment of such assignments can be challenging, and teachers may be inconsistent in assessing their students’ answers. Thus, automated UML diagram assessment becomes essential to maintaining assessment consistency. This study uses a behavioral diagram as the object of research, since it is a commonly taught UML diagram. The behavioral diagram can show a dynamic view of the software. This study proposes a new approach to automatically assessing the similarity of behavior diagrams as reliably as experts do. We divide the assessment into two portions: semantic assessment, and structural assessment. Label similarity is used to calculate semantic assessment, while subgraph edit distance is used to calculate structural assessment. The results suggest that the proposed approach is as reliable as an expert in assessing the similarity between two behavior diagrams. The observed agreement value suggests a strong agreement between the use of experts and the proposed approach.

In this note, our task is a twofold one. We show firstly that if A and B* are contractions with C.o completely non unitary parts such that X mem ker DeltaA,B, then X mem ker DeltaA*,B*. Secondly, it is shown that if A and B* are w-hyponormal operators such that X mem ker deltaA,B and Y mem ker deltaB,A, where X and Y are quasi-affinities, then A and B are unitarily equivalent normal operators. A w-hyponormal operator compactly quasi-similar to an isometry is unitary is also proved.

When solving problems in the real world using optimization tools, the model solved by the tools is often only an approximation of the underlying, real, problem. In these circumstances, a decision maker (DM) should consider a diverse set of good solutions, not just an optimal solution as produced using the model. On the other hand, the same DM will only be interested in seeing a few of the alternative solutions, and not the plethora of solutions often produced by modern search techniques. There is thus a need to distinguish between good solutions using the attributes of solutions. We develop a distance function of the type proposed in the Psychology literature by Tversky (1977) for the class of VRP problems. We base our difference on the underlying structure of solutions. A DM is often interested in focusing on a set of solutions fulfilling certain conditions that are of specific importance that day, or in general, like avoiding a certain road due to construction that day. This distance measure can also be used to generate solutions containing these specific classes of attributes, as the normal search process might not supply enough of these interesting solutions. We illustrate the use of the functions in a Multiobjective Decision Support System (DSS) setting, where the DM might want to see the presence (or absence) of certain attributes, and show the importance of identifying solutions not on the Pareto front. Our distance measure can use any attributes of the solutions, not just those defined in the optimization model.

Opis:
Cybernetic states of law try to plan each activity – especially migration issues. The planning process has the following question originating in socio-cybernetics in its core: Where can it be assumed that the population characteristics are higher/lower than rational? The planning levels can be different: from the continent or country levels via statistic regions or micro-regions to settlements (even at the street and house levels). Parallel to the aggregation like population density (or annual growth rate), models can also be developed for arbitrary layers of demographical statistics, like the required ratio of males and females in different age-groups and/or education categories, etc. The models can analyze time-periods (e.g., years, time intervals) to ensure that dynamic processes will not actually be covered through static evaluation. The necessary data asset (a kind of Big Data) is given by OECD/ EUROSTAT, for example The questions and data assets are well-known. The modeling methodology consists of potential know-how: through estimations of staircase functions in the framework of online similarity analyses, regional norm values can be derived for targeted population characteristics. Therefore, the European strategy concerning the integration of massive volumes of migrants can be supported in an objective way. Analogue analyses with the same methodology have already been derived for parts of Germany and Hungary. Similarity analysis is an artificial intelligence-based approach with its own consistence-oriented quality assurance layers. The data-driven policy creation needs methodologies where objectivity is provided through optimization in the modeling based on arbitrary phenomena. The modeling philosophy should try to ensure a kind of regional multi-layered equilibrium (sustainability, cf. Kazohinia). The outlined methodology can be seen as a sort of automated SWOT analysis where each conclusion will be derived from the raw statistics in a direct way – without the risk of human subjectivity intervening in the process. The modeling spectrum consists of three levels: (1) Explorative modeling is able to derive basic characteristics for ceteris paribus perspectives through the complex functions. The standard analytical potential works with ceteris paribus parameters, based on the appropriate literature sources. (2) Antidiscriminative modeling is capable of deriving ranks for objects without an actual learning pattern, for the so-called production functions. (3) A cybernetic state of law should be able to have robot-planning values supporting human decision processes. Therefore, 'freedom of press' is basically the capability to explore and publish objective force fields and not to catalyze the spread of subjective evaluations.

Optimization is essential for nding suitable answers to real life problems. In particular, genetic (or more generally, evolutionary) algorithms can provide satisfactory approximate solutions to many problems to which exact analytcal results are not accessible. In this paper we present both theoretical and experimental results on a new genetic algorithm called Dissimilarity and Simlarity of Chromosomes (DSC). This methodology constructs new chromosomes starting with the pairs of existing ones by exploring their dissimilarities and similarities. To demonstrate the performance of the algorithm, it is run on 17 two-dimensional, one four-dimensional and two ten-dimensional optimization problems described in the literature, and compared with the well-known GA, CMA-ES and DE algorithms. The results of tests show the superiority of our strategy in the majority of cases.

Opis:
A fundamental problem in computational biology is dealing with circular patterns. The problem consists of finding a pattern and its rotations in a database. In this paper, we present two online algorithms. The first algorithm reports all of the substrings (factors) of a given pattern in an online text. Then, without losing efficiency, we extend the algorithm to process the circular rotations of the pattern. For a given pattern P of size M and a text T of size N, the extended algorithm reports all of the locations in the text where a substring of Pc is found where Pc is one of the rotations of P. For an alphabet size σ using O(M) space, the desired goals are achieved in an average O(MN/σ) time, which is O(N) for all patterns with length M ≤ σ. Traditional string-processing algorithms make use of advanced data structures such as suffix trees and automaton. The experimental results we have provided show that basic data structures such as arrays can be used in text-processing algorithms without compromising efficiency.

Managing a supply chain for products with a short life cycle, like fashion apparel, high-tech, personal computers, toys, CD’s etc., is challenging for many companies (Fisher and Raman, 1999). Because the life cycles of these products are too short for standard time-series forecasting methods (not longer than one – two years), an important way of overcoming the challenges of managing supply chains for such products is to find appropriate forecasting methodologies. The standard forecasting methods require some historical data, which are often unavailable at the time when the forecasts are being performed for products with a short life cycle (Lin, 2005). The method described in this article allows forecasters to use life cycles of similar, analogous products to arrive at the initial forecasts for the product(s) at hand.

The rising number of executed programs (jobs) enabled by the growing amount of available resources from Clouds, Grids, and HPC (for example) has resulted in an enormous number of jobs. Nowadays, most of the executed jobs are mainly unobserved, so unusual behavior, non-optimal resource usage, and silent faults are not systematically searched and analyzed. Job-centric monitoring enables permanent job observation and, thus, enables the analysis of monitoring data. In this paper, we show how statistic functions can be used to analyze job-centric monitoring data and how the methods compare to more-complex analysis methods. Additionally, we present the usefulness of job-centric monitoring based on practical experiences.

Opis:
The authors state that in principle every two properties belonging to the same real estate market are similar. This cannot be even changed by the fact that one of them is the least attractive on the market while the other is of highest attractiveness - we still consider them as "similar properties". If someone does not accept this approach there as a way out from this situation by the redefinition of the market causing its narrowing. This paper considers the question of assessing (measuring) the similarity under the condition that properties are characterized by qualitative attributes - either binary or nominal. Such a case does not seem senseless for the real estate market, and there are some who indicate the necessity of considering the characteristics of the property just as qualitative attributes because of the subjectivity accompanying describing the property that causes that characteristics are only seemingly of ordinal nature.

This method is based on the determination of similarity criterion Z as the average temperature difference between the reference and analyzed curves in the solidification region. The purpose of this work is to describe the thermal express-analysis (TDA) device created by us and the substantiation of the reliability and sensitivity of the results of the new method, including the definition of a two-sided confidence interval using Student’s t-test. The error of the method was determined with the Student’s criterion taken into account. The high sensitivity of the method to the metallurgical prehistory of the gray and white cast iron melts was confirmed. The method has been successfully tested under laboratory and experimental-industrial conditions on induction melting cast iron. The new method uses a disposable environmentally friendly submersible steel sampler with a heat-resistant coating inside and out. The method allows for the quick adaptation to the conditions of specific foundries (especially with the frequent changes of classes and types of cast iron) due to replenishing the database of the reference samples. The basic features of the new method are its universality, self-adaptability, speed, relative simplicity, and high sensitivity to the metallurgical prehistory of molten iron.
