Opis:: Artykuł przedstawia nowe trendy i wyzwania w zarządzaniu działalnością badawczo-rozwojową w przedsiębiorstwach, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem problematyki transferu wiedzy z sektora nauki do sektora przedsiębiorstw. Autor wskazuje na szczególną rolę w tym zakresie, odgrywaną przez przedsiębiorcę innowacyjnego oraz na zmiany w strukturze podmiotowej zgłoszeń patentowych, pojawienie się spółek spin off i spin out, możliwości uzyskania dotacji na działalność badawczo-rozwojową oraz nowe formy prowadzenia działalności B+R w przedsiębiorstwach.
The article presents the new trends and challenges in the management of R&D activities in enterprises, with a particular emphasis on the issue of transfer of knowledge from the higher schools to enterprises sector. The author points to the special role played in this by the innovation entrepreneur and changes in the subjective structure of patent applications, the emergence of spin-off and spin-out enterprises, the possibility of obtaining grants for R&D projects and new forms of R&D centers in enterprises.

Opis:: A growth potential of Poland up to now has based on low labour costs and low prices of raw materials, but this advantage seems to be running out due to increasing income per capita. Hence, if the country wants to be competitive in comparison to other economies in Europe and in the world, it is indispensable to pursue a more effective innovation policy. However, the innovativeness level of particular Polish regions is diversified. Despite very high outlays on innovations (both total and per 1 enterprise), the companies from the Lodz Voivodeship reside the less innovative in the country. What is worse, their cooperation with external entities and a generous support of public funds do not result in sufficient increase of their innovativeness level. The firms from the Lodz Province are also characterized by low income arising from the sale of innovative products and a low percentage of them has introduced any innovative solutions encompassed product, process, marketing and organizational innovations.

Opis:: The European Union clearly emphasises the need to convert the European knowledge into market products and services with the aid of the R&D sector through stimulating transfer of knowledge and the removal of barriers to the commercialisation of new ideas. R&D activity has a positive impact on the development of regions and it might be the example illustrating successful cooperation between science and business. Scientific units and R&D institutions are becoming increasingly more open to the business sector and more often adapt their offer to the specific needs of companies. The paper aims at presenting research and development activity carried out in Lodz region, showing its current potential and determinants of its development. Particular attention will be paid to higher education institutions whose role and importance in the research and development sphere is growing.

Opis:: W artykule podjęto problem niedoboru ilości i jakości zasobu ludzkiego oraz jego wpływu na poziom innowacyjności wybranych krajów. Przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą działań podejmowanych przez te kraje, które mają na celu podniesienie jakości kapitału intelektualnego. Odniesiono się także do związków, jakie występują między poziomem innowacyjności, przedsiębiorczości, nakładami na edukację i prace badawczo-rozwojowe oraz wynikami ekonomicznymi uzyskiwanymi w analizowanych gospodarkach narodowych. Szczególna uwaga zwrócona została na nakłady i wyniki w Polsce. Na tej podstawie wyprowadzono wnioski o konieczności stworzenia nowej spójnej polityki państwa, mającej na celu poprawę jakości kapitału ludzkiego, a także zarysowano kierunki potrzebnych zmian, jakie muszą zajść w organizacjach działających na terenie Polski.
The paper discusses the problems related to the shortage of qualified personnel proficient enough to foster innovations and the consequences of this scarcity upon innovativeness in selected countries. A comparative analysis of policies and actions that are aimed at the improvement of capabilities of the human capital has been performed for these countries. Issues pertinent to the interrelationships between the level of innovativeness, entrepreneurship, education expenditures, R&D and economic results of the country have been discussed. Special attention has been dedicated to the input to the innovation processes in Poland and the results produced. It has been observed, that whereas all countries to some extend suffer from deficiency of human skills a variety of means are used to remedy the situation, at times very vigorously. Based on the obtained results, conclusions regarding the need to formulate a cohesive state policy aimed at amelioration of the human capital have been suggested. Required changes in operations and the co-operation patterns of agencies acting in the field of innovations have been outlined.
