Opis:
Purpose: the present paper aims to explore the origins of neuromarketing, its current position, technologies and major limitations, as well as to discuss its possible future development. Design/methodology/approach: this is a theoretical article. For its purposes an in-depth literature review has been conducted. Additionally, in order to shed light on challenges faced by researchers using neuromarketing tools, the currently available knowledge has been synthesized. Findings: the study has shown that neuromarketing technologies provide invaluable information on the subconscious mental processes influencing the customer’s behaviour. However, despite their considerable scientific potential, they pose potential threats regarding their unauthorised use. Hence, the research emphasises the need to maintain particularly high standards and to protect people against inappropriate and unethical use of neuromarketing strategies . Originality/value: the paper can be used by theoreticians and practitioners of neuroeconomics who want to deepen their knowledge of research and tools used in neuromarketing. It presents the most frequently used technologies as well as the opportunities and threats related to their use in an in-depth and innovative way.

Our analysis will focus on evaluating organizational ethics as a new theoretical paradigm and presenting its practical dimension. We will point out its interdisciplinary nature, the context of new trends in managerial and organizational theory. We consider applied ethics to be an important prerequisite for building its theoretical and practical intent. This specific scientific area is significantly involved in creating ethical competencies, advising on the creation of ethical frameworks of different types of organization. An emphasis will be put on the importance of organizational ethics in building the ISO quality systems.

Wynikiem badań jest syntetyczny materiał na temat teoretycznych aspektów oporu wobec zmian.
Article concerns a phenomenon which appears in organization as is reservation about changes. There is not only definition of reservation in it but also reasons which decide about its escalation. Some methods that can be applied in fight with it were also indicated. Result of research is synthetic material about theoretical aspects of reservation in the face of changes.

Opis:
Providing transport safety depends on its component entities. The tasks of President of the Office of Rail Transport (UTK) covering railway system safety are carried out based on the act on railway transport, the act on conformity assessment and the act on carrying hazardous goods. Implementing innovative railway transport solutions, including the Academy of the Office of Rail Transport (UTK), Railway ABC are among priority tasks of the President of the Office of Rail Transport (UTK). The actions taken aim at improving the safety of entire railway system. The concept of safe computer systems used in railway transport guarantees low intensity of malfunctions being decisive for disastrous failures.
Transport kolejowy jest obecnie najbezpieczniejszą gałęzią transportu lądowego. Bezpieczeństwo w transporcie kolejowym jest podstawowym kryterium oceny funkcjonowania systemu transportu kolejowego. Za bezpieczeństwo w transporcie kolejowym odpowiedzialni są zarządcy infrastruktury, przewoźnicy kolejowi, producenci taboru, zakłady naprawcze taboru kolejowego oraz użytkownicy bocznic. Bezpieczeństwo w transporcie kolejowym jest przede wszystkim uzależnione od stanu technicznego infrastruktury kolejowej, stanu technicznego urządzeń sterowania ruchem kolejowym, stanu technicznego taboru kolejowego, kultury bezpieczeństwa społeczeństwa, kompetencji pracowników oraz funkcjonowania przejazdów kolejowo-drogowych.

Celem pracy jest znalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy przenikanie innowacji jest symetryczne, czy niesymetryczne, tzn. czy zależy ono od łącznego zasobu innowacji, czy też raczej przebiega od liderów innowacyjności do imitatorów. W pracy dokonano przeglądu literatury poświęconej modelowaniu przenikania, zarówno prac teoretycznych, jak i empirycznych, aby stwierdzić, że choć w literaturze przeważa pogląd, że przenikanie jest symetryczne, to istnieją istotne przesłanki wskazujące na jego asymetryczną naturę.
The aim of this paper is to answer the question whether the innovation spillover is symmetric or asymmetric, i.e. whether it depends on the total pool of innovation, or rather it leaks from innovation leaders to imitators. The paper is a review of the literature on spillover modeling, both theoretical work and empirical, to conclude that although in the literature prevailing view is that spillover is symmetric, there are significant reasons to pay more attention to its asymmetric nature.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie, na bazie analizy literatury, istoty orientacji przedsiębiorczej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem jej składników i wymiarów. Wyniki analiz teoretycznych wskazują, że orientacja przedsiębiorcza jest konstruktem wielowymiarowym i może być konceptualizowana i manifestowana na wiele równie uprawnionych sposobów, na rożnych poziomach analizy (jednostki, zespołu, organizacji). W niniejszym artykule przyjęto pięciowymiarową koncepcję orientacji przedsiębiorczej.
This paper aims to present provide, on the basis of the analysis of the literature, the essence of entrepreneurial orientation, with particular emphasis on its components and dimensions. The results of the theoretical analyses indicate that the entrepreneurial orientation construct is multidimensional and can be conceptualized and manifested in a number of equally ways, at different levels of analysis (individual, team, organization). This paper assumes five-dimensional concept of entrepreneurial orientation.

Purpose: The benefits of workforce diversity and diversity management are widely discussed. However, meta-analyses of empirical studies on the relationship between workforce diversity and organisational performance show that it is either very weak or non-existent. This discrepancy between theoretical expectations and empirical results, coupled with the increasing diversity of the workforce in business practice, has stimulated work on a particular type of management to benefit from differences among organisational members, i.e. cohesive management. The purpose of this paper is to propose a model of the organisational cohesive management capacity (CMC). Design/methodology/approach: The general concept of cohesive management was based on the results of analyses of management activities carried out in top European football clubs – organisations characterised by a high diversity of the workforce and, at the same time, essentially free of discriminatory biases. Extensive literature research was conducted to define and operationalise the dimensions of CMC in relation to business. Findings: The hypothetical model of the organisation’s CMC was developed. It is shaped by four dimensions: game for talent, sense of unity of purpose, shared identity, and transparency of operations. Research limitations/implications: Research limitations/implications: A limitation of this study is the lack of empirical verification of the hypothesised CMC model. Originality/value: The value of the article is to adapt the management practices inherent in top football clubs to businesses. It defines the dimensions of CMC in business organisations by grounding them in management science theory. The developed concept seems to be of particular relevance to industries strongly dependent on highly qualified employees, high technology industries. The developed model provides a complete and coherent basis for undertaking empirical research.

Purpose: The purpose of the article is to present systemic determinants of structural changes in the economy Design/methodology/approach: The article uses critical literature analysis. The theory of structural changes and system theory was reviewed to reveal the impact of the economic system on changes in the economic structure. Findings: Owing to the conducted analysis, the relationship between the system and the economic structure was presented. On the one hand, shaping the structure turned out to be strategically important for the entire system. On the other, the structure may depend on broadly understood conditions resulting from the properties of the system itself or its environment. Hence, for the same purposes, the systems may differ in their structure, which will be chosen to apply to the existing determinant. It can therefore be assumed that the system is an important determinant for structural adjustments in the economy. Originality/value: The literature on the subject, as the main factors of changes in economic structures, primarily reveals: the introduction and diffusion of new technologies and the increase in global trade. The nature of their influence has been extensively described by economists. However, systemic determinants of structural transformations are still hardly documented.

W artykule zdefiniowano pojęcie „kompetencji”. Przedstawiono analizę czynników demotywujących pracowników produkcji w badanym dużym przedsiębiorstwie produkcyjnym. Określono luki kompetencyjne kadry kierowniczej i wskazano, na rozwój których kompetencji należy zwrócić uwagę, by odpowiedzieć na bieżące problemy badanej organizacji. Stworzono studium porównawcze i na bazie raportu Future Work Skills25 dokonano analizy tzw. kompetencji przyszłości w odniesieniu do zidentyfikowanych luk kompetencyjnych badanej organizacji. Zaprezentowano dane ilustrujące ten problem.
The concept of competence is defined in article. An analysis of the demotivating factors of production workers in large manufacturing company is presented. Competency gaps of executives were defined and set of the skills was pointed that they should pay attention in order to respond to the current problems of the studied organization. A comparative study and based on the report Future Work Skills25 was created. An analysis of the so-called the competencies of the future was performed in relation to the identified competency gaps in audited organization.

W artykule tym autor krótko definiuje społeczną odpowiedzialność biznesu oraz ideę innowacyjności, a następnie wskazuje, w jaki sposób możliwe jest połączenie tych dwóch koncepcji.

Purpose: The environmental problems which have been deepening in recent decades, i.e. climate change or the degradation of the biosphere, are creating a new reality of pursuing business activity. On the one hand, firms - by their nature - seek to maintain the efficiency and to gain a competitive advantage, on the other hand - they are more and more often obliged to balance environmental goals with economic goals. Although there are opinions that these goals are competitive in themselves, it is possible for firms to reconcile them effectively by adopting Environmental Sustainability Orientation. Since this orientation is analysed in the literature from various research perspectives, this paper attempts to conceptualise it from a Dynamic Capabilities perspective. Design/methodology/approach: The paper is theoretical and based on an in-depth review of the literature. The developed conceptual model includes the direct and indirect relations among dynamic capabilities formulated in multidimensional terms, Environmental Sustainability Orientation and organisational outcomes. Embedding considerations in resource-based theories, three key processes (organisational learning, integration and reconfiguration of resources) have also been analysed, which, as necessary for building dynamic capabilities, make it easier for firms to adopt strategic Environmental Sustainability Orientation. Findings: The considerations included in the paper complement the literature in the area of strategic management and make it easier to understand Environmental Sustainability Orientation at the organisational level. They also point to a need to undertake further scientific work, the authors of which can use the research propositions elaborated in the paper and thus empirically verify the proposed conceptual model. Originality/value: The key scientific contribution of the paper is the development of a research framework formulating Environmental Sustainability Orientation from a Dynamic Capabilities perspective, i.e., respectively: (1) the capability to identify opportunities and/or threats (sensing), (2) the capability to use these opportunities and/or cope with threats (seizing) and (3) the capability to reconfigure the firm’s resources and competences (reconfiguring). The logic of this approach results from the fact that the three fundamental processes underlying the building of dynamic capabilities - organisational learning, integration and reconfiguration of resources - supported by the conscious action of CEO, make it easier for firms to adopt strategic Environmental Sustainability Orientation.

Purpose: The main goal of article focuses on identification the main research directions for transferring the function of centralised demand forecasting to 3PL enterprise. To meet this goal the concepts connected with central demand forecasting in distribution network was considered and it was taking into account the meaning of demand management and forecasting in logistics. There were also distinguished the main stages which could include the attributes of central forecasting enterprise. Design/methodology/approach: Paper includes literature analysis connected with centralised forecasting and specification of determinants which could be the main reference point in finding the enterprise able to get the function of centralised forecasting. Findings: According to literature review determinants of distribution network configuration in the centralised forecasting is showed and also there is showed a possibility of transfer the function of centralised forecasting to logistic operator. Originality/value Paper shows determinants of distribution network configuration in the conditions of centralised forecasting and takes into account possibility of transfer this function to logistic operator.

The article delivers the results of systematic literature review of research on smart and sustainable cities. An overview of definitions, dimensions and components of smart city, sustainable city and smart sustainable city was presented. In addition, the identification of existing methods and indicators used for rating smart cities and sustainable cities was performed. Based on analysis of complexity and thoroughness of the identified assessment frameworks, methodologies that can be used for comprehensive evaluation of the smart sustainable city were determined. Finally, the identified research gaps and issues with potential future contribution within analyzed scientific area were indicated.

Purpose: The main objective of the article is to develop and present a concept for the implementation of activity-based costing in a company dealing with multi-assortment production of bookbinding machinery. However, due to the publishing requirements, the article was divided into two parts – the first one describes the theoretical approach to the problem and the second one presents the case study. Therefore, the aim of this part of the considerations is to present the shortcomings of traditional methods of unit cost calculation in the light of the literature on the subject and to present the main assumptions and calculation procedures of the concept of activity-based costing. Design/methodology/approach: The main research methods used in this part of the considerations are: analysis of the literature on the subject and inference. Findings: The result of the research is the conclusion that the traditional methods of unit cost calculation, i.e. full costing and variable costing, are insufficient for effective cost management in the company. Originality/value: This part of the analysis presents in a synthetic way the identified main disadvantages of traditional unit costing methods. An alternative solution to the discussed problem was also presented here, i.e. the change of the applied costing system into an activity-based costing system – analyzing its assumptions and calculation procedures. This content is directed both to persons dealing with these matters from the theoretical perspective, as well as company owners and heads of controlling or production departments.

This paper focuses on issues of CSR in the context of the extractives industry. Due to the specific characteristic of the industry and the magnitude of its influence on the natural environment and society, the CSR assumptions, tools, and management methods must be reorganized and adapted. Author firstly shows some theoretical considerations about the role of the CSR in the industry, possible areas of prevalence, tools, possible method of management, some opportunities and threats. Then, in the second part of the article, author will show some best CSR practices form the extractives industry.
Artykuł koncentruje się wokół kwestii społecznej odpowiedzialności przedsiębiorstw w kontekście branży wydobywczej. Ze względu na jej specyficzną charakterystykę i wielkość wpływu na środowisko naturalne oraz społeczeństwo, założenia, narzędzia i metody zarządzania CSR muszą zostać zreorganizowane i dostosowane. Autor najpierw przedstawia teoretyczne rozważania na temat roli CSR w branży wydobywczej, możliwe obszary występowania, narzędzia, sposoby zarządzania, szanse oraz zagrożenia, a następnie wskazuje kilka dobrych praktyk CSR z obszaru tej branży.
