    The following article focusses the consequences of using new media in West Africa, especially in the Republic of Benin. The increasing number of mobile phones and smartphones entails a lot of economic, social and political changes within the African society. The way of using these technologies is characterized by creativity and different kinds of local appropriation offering inter alia new chances of development.
    Poniższy artykuł skupia się na konsekwencjach wykorzystania nowych mediów w regionie Afryki Zachodniej, w szczególności w Republice Beninu. Rosnąca liczba telefonów komórkowych i smartfonów przynosi szereg zmian gospodarczych, społecznych i kulturowych w społeczeństwie Afryki Zachodniej. Sposób korzystania z nich cechuje się kreatywnością i implikuje różne formy przyswajania, obejmujące między innymi nowe szanse rozwoju.

    Opis:
    The evolution of the approach to the public sector has been changing the expectations towards the sector’s organisations in a substantial manner. A particular challenge was the departure from the classic Weber management model, postulated in the new public management (NPM), towards market mechanisms, precedence of performance criteria, public sector functioning based on principles similar to the ones applicable to the private sector. The direction of these changes resulted in the permeation of the concepts used in the private sector to the public sector. One of these includes the dynamic capabilities concept. Dynamic capabilities can constitute an organisation’s potential for systemic problem solving, resulting from the mindfulness of the signals deriving from an organisation’s environment to ensure the correct direction of functioning and development of a public sector organisation. The paper includes an attempt to answer the question whether the concept of dynamic capabilities can constitute an answer to the changing expectations towards public sector organisations? The research method used in the paper is the literature study.

    Opis:
    Purpose: the main purpose of the article is to underline importance of updating knowledge by mine rescuers related to deteriorating geological conditions of mines, that can lead to accidents and events that result in serious disasters. Design/methodology/approach: theses presented in the article have been verified using: literature review, critical literature analysis, document research and comparative analysis. Findings: based on content of this article, mining rescue will be considered as the most important aspect of the entire occupational safety system. The main element in mine rescue is the lifeguard-specialist, who has unique and constantly improving qualifications and professional competences. Hence, the role and quality of mining rescue should be assessed not only in the scope of the tasks that it has to perform, but also perhaps even more importantly, in relation to new challenges that require the constant adaptation of mining rescue to fit dynamically changing organizational and technical conditions, both underground and on the surface of the mine. Originality/value: the article enriches knowledge and develops discussion in the area of mining rescue. Thanks to the knowledge presented in the article, it can be concluded that role and the rank of mining rescue lies not only in the dimension of tasks that it has to perform, but also importantly in the dimension of new challenges that determine the need to constantly adapt mining rescue to dynamically changing organizational and technical conditions, both underground and on the surface of mine sites.

    Opis:
    U podstaw formowania uniwersytetów wybrzmiały dwie misje. Pierwsza związana była z prowadzeniem badań naukowych, a więc poszukiwań prawdy, a druga związana była z dydaktyką. W wyniku zachodzących zmian w przestrzeni społeczno-gospodarczej wydaje się, że tradycyjna misja uniwersytetu nie oddaje wszystkich zadań kierowanych do uniwersytetu. Tradycyjne misje uniwersytetu poddawane są dyskusji i pojawiają się głosy mówiące o konieczności zmian. Dyskutowana jest kwestia badań naukowych, analizowanych tematów i ich użyteczności w przestrzeni społeczno-gospodarczej. Pod debatę poddawana jest również dydaktyka, wobec której oczekuje się kształcenia absolwentów użytecznych na rynku pracy. Wobec zachodzących zmian i próby pogodzenia istoty uczelni z oczekiwaniami interesariuszy, w literaturze pojawiło się sformułowanie trzecia misja uczelni. Nazywana jest również misją społeczną bądź służbą publiczną, a istotą jej jest uwzględnianie oczekiwań interesariuszy w działalności uczelni. Problematyka trzeciej misji uczelni nie została jednak w sposób precyzyjny określona i niejednoznaczne są zadania z niej wynikające. Celem artykułu jest próba sprecyzowania kształtu trzeciej misji, a także zadań i powinności wynikających z jej realizacji.
    Two missions resounded at the foundations of university formation. The first was related to conducting scientific research, and thus searching for the truth, and the second was related to didactics. As a result of changes in the socio-economic space, it seems that the traditional university mission does not reflect all tasks addressed to the university. Traditional university missions are subject to discussion and there are voices talking about the need for change. The issue of scientific research, analyzed topics and their usefulness in the socio-economic space is discussed. The debate is also about didactics, which is expected to educate graduates useful in the labor market. In view of the changes taking place and the attempt to reconcile the essence of the university with the expectations of the stakeholders, the third mission of the university appeared in the literature. It is also called a social mission or public service, and its essence is to take into account the expectations of stakeholders in the university's activities. The problem of the third mission of the university has not been precisely defined and ambiguous are the tasks resulting from it. The purpose of the article is to try to specify the shape of the third mission, as well as the tasks and duties resulting from its implementation.

    Opis:
    Business Intelligence promises improved decision making. To meet the changing business requirements, BI has to reduce latency between data acquisition and decision. As a result of growing needs, concepts like Real Time, Active, Operational, Business Performance Management or embedded BI are introduced in the literature. Nevertheless, the technical implementation prevents the realization of these concepts. Thus, overloaded infrastructures and heterogeneous system landscapes avoid further evolution. To prevent this lack of system integration and performance, we address the changing BI paradigms through a service-oriented approach. Hence, the novel BI concepts and Service-oriented Business Intelligence (SoBI) theories are illustrated and combined in a uniform artifact. The construct is developed by using reference modeling. As a result, a SoBI reference architecture accrues, which becomes validated successfully and provides a basis for future implementations. This paper offers a flexible approach that reduces the latency in order of dynamic market environments.
    Inteligentne systemy komputerowe pomocne są w procesie wspomagania decyzji do zmieniających się wymagań biznesowych. System BI ma zmniejszyć opóźnienie między procesami akwizycji danych i podejmowania decyzji. Niemniej w praktyce trudna jest strona techniczna dotycząca realizacji tych koncepcji. Aby uniknąć problemów związanych z integracją i wydajnością systemu, możemy dostosować się do zmieniających się paradygmatów BI przez podejście zorientowane na usługi. Stąd nowe koncepcja BI zorientowana na usługi Business Intelligence. W publikacji przedstawiono elastyczne podejście, które zmniejsza opóźnienia w dynamicznym środowisku rynkowym.

    Healthcare services are facing continuously enormous amount of cumulative knowledge, increasing number of new processes, technologies and devices applied, and altogether with growing administrative, processual and legislative entropy within healthcare systems increases number and importance of ethical issues of healthcare. Progressive complexity of situations requires adequate level of education also in non-medical branches, including ethics to support not only medical, but as well ethical dimension of responsibility. All that within environment of raising global social inequality, change in demographic structure, limited economical and raw resources and generally expected fair access to modern healthcare. Antagonism among scientific and technological advances and economical limits and availability need to find balance between freedom of unlimited healthcare services consumption and responsibility for expenses of its overuse to find forhcoming future of healthcare sustainable.
    Usługi opieki zdrowotnej stają w obliczu ogromnej ilości skumulowanej wiedzy, rosnącej liczby nowych procesów, zastosowanych technologii i urządzeń, a wraz z rosnącym procesem administracyjnym, procesualnym i entropii legislacyjnej w systemach opieki zdrowotnej zwiększa się liczba i znaczenie etycznych kwestii opieki zdrowotnej. Progresywna złożoność sytuacji wymaga odpowiedniego poziomu wykształcenia, również w oddziałach nie-medycznych, obejmujących etykę, aby wspierać nie tylko medyczny, ale i etyczny wymiar odpowiedzialności. Wszystko to ma miejsce w kontekście podnoszenia globalnych nierówności społecznych, zmiany struktury demograficznej, ograniczonych zasobów ekonomicznych i surowcowych oraz ogólnie przewidywanego sprawiedliwego dostępu do nowoczesnej opieki zdrowotnej. Antagonizm wśród postępu naukowego i technologicznego oraz ograniczeń ekonomicznych i dostępności musi znaleźć równowagę między swobodą nieograniczonej konsumpcji usług medycznych a odpowiedzialnością za koszty jego nadmiernego wykorzystania, aby znaleźć zrównoważoną przyszłość opieki zdrowotnej.

    Purpose: The main aim of the study is to assess a correlation coefficient between the level of economic growth and innovativeness of the food industry enterprises in the European Union countries. Design/methodology/approach: The study period includes the years 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018. The conducted studies focus on three types of variables relating to innovativeness of the food industry enterprises. The Spearman’s rang correlations coefficient and its significance tests were used for the purpose of achieving the research aim. Findings: The study results revealed significant differences in the innovation level in the European Union. It was also indicated that there is a statistically significant correlation between the value of per capita GDP and the level of expenditure on internal research and development per one enterprise in all analysed years and the expenditure on purchase of machines, equipment and software calculated per one innovative enterprise in 2014 and 2016. Additionally, it should be stated that there is no connection between the level of economic situation in the European Union countries and the number of innovative food industry enterprises. Originality/value: The added value of the article is the answer to the question if there is a correlation between the economic development and the food industry innovativeness in the European Union countries.

    The role of social support in dealing with a disease is extremely important. People who are in a similar life situation, facing the same problems, may not only be a relevant source of support and useful information, but also help to increase patients’ quality of life. They can also reduce the feeling of otherness and alienation. Moreover, social support facilitates the process of recovery. Since the emergence of new technologies, especially the cyberspace, it can be seen that social life is transferring to the Internet. The number of forums and online support groups is growing rapidly, however, there are still not much data regarding the psychological consequences and benefits of being a member of an online support group. The aim of this presentation is to compare the level of satisfaction with the social support experienced by those who attend traditional self-help groups and those who look for support on the Internet. The research was conducted on a group of 73 women with eating disorders (41 suffering from anorexia nervosa and 32 suffering from bulimia nervosa). The following measurement tools were used in the research: Berlin Social Support Scales (BSSS) and an original survey prepared by the author. The analyses showed that 77% of the participants got high results in the Need For Support Scale. Moreover, 2/3 of participants got high results in the Searching For Support Scale, out of whom 75% were searching for support on the Internet.

    Artykuł dotyczy problematyki kształcenia studentów wyższych uczelni pedagogicznych w kontekście rozwoju i modernizacji systemu szkolnictwa wyższego. Podstawowym czynnikiem wymuszających zmiany są procesy związane z globalizacją, takie jak zmiana stylu życia związana ze wzrostem tempa interakcji społecznej pod wpływem nowych technologii, migracją ludności, transferem usług oraz unifikacja kulturową wynikającą z kopiowania modelów konsumpcji i nieograniczonego rozprzestrzeniania idei. Wobec tych gwałtownie przebiegających zmian, jednym z najważniejszych zadań dla kształcenia pedagogicznego wydaje się stworzenie systemu profesjonalnej edukacji nauczyciela potrafiącego sprostać przyszłym wyzwaniom. W artykule przedstawiono priorytety i innowacje wprowadzane w tym zakresie na Ukrainie w odniesieniu do polskiego systemu edukacji i europejskich rozwiązań. Zwrócono uwagę na ich znaczenie w myśleniu o polityce edukacyjnej i formowaniu elementów strukturalnych systemu kształcenia oraz wpływ na rozwój wiedzy społeczeństwa.
    The article deals with the problem of professional education of students of pedagogical universities. It is emphasized that an important task of pedagogical science is the development of a system for the modernization of university education. The basis and main stimulus of this process is globalization, a new world trend through which the way of life, the spread of consumer goods and ideas become standardized throughout the world. The main directions of the national priorities Ukrainian innovations and their importance for the Polish education system are presented. The areas of the Ukrainian-Polish cooperation of educational systems in the context of modern innovations and in the sphere of the European priorities are considered. Attention is drawn to the importance of thinking about educational policy and forming structural elements of the education system and the impact on the development of a knowledge society.
