Opis:
Projects that aim to encourage healthy lifestyles among children or adolescents require a multilateral approach that targets values, beliefs, and attitudes. This kind of influence requires close well-planned cooperation between families, schools, peers, and youth organizations. The distribution of roles and tasks – as well as efficient communication as an element of good cooperation, partnerships, networking, and synergy – becomes a key determinant of a project’s success and the maintenance of children’s behaviour. The aim of this article is to clarify the concepts and notions connected to synergy and partnerships focusing on health, as well as to point out the measuring tools which could be usefull in this area, and also to present examples of projects that serve as international best practices of health target synergy for the child and adolescent population.

Opis:
Subjective health and taking care of health among teachers and non-teaching staff in primary and lower secondary schools This article presents the results of the survey on the self-assessment of health and taking care of health among teachers (N = 750) and non-teaching staff (N = 259) from 22 schools. It was an element of the diagnosis conducted in preparation for planning the project on school staff’s health promotion. The majority of respondents assessed their health positively, but over 40% had long-standing health problems, 40–51% often experienced strong pain/physical discomfort; while 25–33% often felt tired. The latter can negatively influence their disposition to work. While the majority of respondents reported that they took care of their health, only 60% of the teachers and 39% of other workers undertook some activities to improve it over the last year. All the indicators analyzed were more positive among teachers than non-teaching staff and most of the indicators were better for younger than for older persons. Women considered their health worse than men but more often took action to improve it. The differences in the health status of school staff should be taken into consideration in planning health promotion programmes at school.

Opis:
Differentiation of social positions leads to the differentiation of health status in the social structure. This relationship results in the phenomenon of social inequalities in health. Health promotion has been created to improve health status and reduce the social inequalities in populations through building resources for health and healthy lifestyles and ensuring their egalitarian distribution. Taking into account the tasks of health promotion we can premise that the implementation of it creates opportunities for the reduction in social inequalities in health, but on condition that health promotion is not being medicalized. In this article we attempt to substantiate the hypothesis speaking that there is the relationship between the medicalization of health promotion and the sustaining of social inequalities in health over time.

Opis:
The article describes how the notion of groups at risk of HIV infection changed under the influence of the development of studies on HIV in the years 1981–1986. The first diagnosed patients with the HIV symptoms were homosexual persons and drug addicts. In the initial phase of virus occurrence in the world these two groups were commonly regarded as the virus carriers and only they were associated with AIDS. With time the progress in research has revealed that infections with HIV cannot be linked solely to lifestyle, habits of homosexuals and drug addicts since the group of subjects potentially vulnerable to the infection is much broader and it started to be related to some risky behaviour. The article shows the process of alteration of the knowledge about the virus causing AIDS in the years 1981–1986. The progress in this knowledge has lead to the changes in qualifying subjects to the risk groups related to the way of HIV transmission. The paper also presents the phenomenon of stigmatization linked to the inclusion of some populations to the groups at risk of HIV infection in the 80s. of the 20th century which was caused by the lack of knowledge on the pathogenesis and mechanism of virus transmission.
