For developed new eco-friendly synthetic route for the synthesis of organic compounds, here in, we have synthesized new series of thiazole derivatives 7(a-h) under microwave irradiation method using less amount of methanol as solvent and less hazardous K2CO3 as catalyst. Then after for the pharmacokinetic study, we can calculate Lipinski rules of five data using swiss ADME software, molecule 7f was fitted in ‘rules of five’ (Ro5) other compounds are showed violence in log P(o/w). The structures of all synthesized compounds are well characterized by Mass, 1H NMR, 13C NMR.

Survey
Opis:
Forest cover in the hill regions is essential to maintain environmental, economic and ecological balances. North Bengal accounts for 3,086 sq km (26 %) of the 11,876 sq km area of classified forests in the state, and for nearly 5,000 sq km (40 %) of all land under tree cover. Khumani is a Village (26.84o N, 88.60o E) in Gorubathan Block in Darjeeling District of West Bengal State, India. The survey work was done in December, 2014 by visiting the Khumani Forest Village (established in 1949) of upper Kumai and the primary data were gathered through field survey and direct contact with common people and authorized centers of the region. Surveys on the demography, agriculture, livestock management, water management, education, culture, health, waste management, disaster management, transport, biodiversity, human animal conflict were done in this area. Topographic map of the area was prepared by using the database of National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organization (NATMO), Kolkata office. In every phase of the survey work, pictorial documentation was done. In spite of being positioned in a diverse and sensitive ecological zone, the village is not adequately managed. There is an urgent need for implementing sustainable management systems in the areas for the betterment of the socio-environmental structures. Some of the possible management strategies have been suggested for maintaining the social, environmental, economic and ecological balance of the region. Proper funds should be raised to conserve and manage these ecologically important zones of north Bengal, which should be one of the main focuses of future researches.

Opis:
Nymphalids, the largest lepidopteran family, is represented by altogether 19 species (37% of the total species abundance) from the present study site Taki, West Bengal, India, with multiple habitat profiles exposed to different anthropogenic interventions. Nymphalidae is reported to be with highest occurrence of mimicry, a naturally selected survival tool for lepidopterans. A nymphalid set, including a model [Plain Tiger: Danaus chrysippus (Linnaeus, 1758)] and a mimic component [Danaid Eggfly ♀: Hypolimnus misippus (Linnaeus, 1764)] is selected for studying the specific ecological and functional correlation among them in their natural habitat. Their comparative seasonal and habitat wise distribution shows co-existence, the unpalatable model species outnumbering the mimic, the vulnerable target, corresponding to the Batesian mimicry. The wing morphology pattern is significantly shared, though the larval and adult host plants are exclusive and species specific. The year long field observation indicates the existence of considerable degree of similarity with respect to the ecobiological details, like flight pattern, mudpuddling, resting, basking and alternative resource utilisation activities. Species specific unique foraging attributes is observed. Being potential pollinators, they play key role to maintain the wild floral diversity at landscape level. The study bears conservation value towards these nature’s artwork, acting as the biotope indicator.

Opis:
50m x 50m plots were laid in each of the two (2) sites, replicated three (3) times to make a total of six (6) plots in all. The plants in all the sites were grouped into four (4) growth forms (trees, shrubs, herbs and grasses) which are evaluated using line transect method. The data were analyzed using student ‘t’ test and biodiversity index was calculated using Shannon Weiner method. The result showed that the population density and biodiversity index of the plant composition in the control site are more than that of the flare site from all the growth forms assessed due to combustion of fossil fuel and the heat generated from the flaring site. The mean of the plant species at the flare site is 663.00 and the control site is 1495.00. The standard deviation for the flare site is 4.32 and that of the control site is 2.51. The paired sample ‘t’ test correlation coefficient showed that there is strongly positive correlation efficient of 0.86 between plant diversity at the flare site and those at the control site. However, from the above analysis, it is concluded that there is statistically significant difference between plant species in the flare site and the control site (p<0.05) due to gas flaring that kills and suppress the growth of plants in the flare site. It is recommended that gas should be harnessed for use as liquefied natural gas. Government and NGOs should embark on an aggressive afforestation programme. Government should also enforce law against flaring, major industrial polluters and monitor their compliance with laid down standard.

Opis:
Biodiversity declines due to unplanned urbanization as well as anthropogenic activities. It has already been documented that native flora and fauna are disappearing as an impact of biodiversity loss. There should be urgent need to restore our lost habitats through conservation techniques. The present study was aimed to conserve and restore lost habitat of pollinators with special reference to butterflies in an urban area through setting up a garden. The study was divided into two phases. In the first phase survey of butterflies found within an unmanaged garden in the campus (Lady Brabourne College, Kolkata) was performed prior to construction activity (May 2012 to October, 2012) and it was observed previously total 31 species of butterfly visited the garden. Developmental activities caused a sharp decline in their population causing an approach to relocate our garden in another area of college campus. In the second phase, setting up a garden in an alternative sites of same campus with plantation of host plants preferred by butterfly species was done and observed for butterfly visit. A slow increase in sighting over a study period of two years (between October, 2012 to June, 2015) was recorded. The results clearly indicate that total 43 species of butterflies were recorded in the garden including 9 species, which were not seen before and with 8 species completing their life cycles. In conclusion, declining of butterfly species can be increased and conserved through setting up of a garden. Presently the garden is flourishing but problems of increase in natural enemies as birds and other anthropogenic disturbances such as excess noise and vibration, street lighting, human interference etc. should be addressed in future within present conservation approach.

Opis:
One of the most important problems of the present day is the safety of the existence of a human being and his or her cultural, civilizational and environmental existence. The idea about what should be done in order to guarantee the safe existence of species is the reason for the discussion within the broad circles of those dealing with science and also philosophy, and in particular eco-philosophy. It is eco-philosophy that truly focuses on substantiating the ways of thinking as well as the rules governing the committed and well-thought actions related to the environmental protection. Educational initiatives for sustainable development are open to the influence of eco-philosophy. Therefore, the need to fill educational strategies and programs with the subtle philosophical “matter”, expressed in the form of values and related behavioral norms, opens a significantly large space for eco-philosophers and the eco-philosophy itself. It needs to be emphasized that the relation between the education for sustainable development and the activities aimed at strengthening the structures of the civil society creates additional interest on the part of numerous social entities as regards the philosophical discourse.
