    In the time from September 2003 to March 2004 feacal samples of 147 wild boars from north-west Poland were examined. The prevalence and intensity of the Coccidia and gastro-intestinal nematodes infection were determined by means of Willis-Schlaaf. The species were determined basing on morphology of oocysts (shape, colour, form index, presence or absence of micropyle and its cap, presence or absence of residual, polar and Stied bodies) and time of sporulation. Sporulation was performed in wet chamber at 24-26°C in a 2.5% aqueous solution of potassium dichromate (KoCr07) (Pellerdy, 1974). Oocysts from the genus Eimeria were found in 58.5% wild boars. Four coccidia species occurred in wild boars (E. deblecki, E. suis, E. perminuta, E. scabra). Gastro-intestinal nematodes were found in 83.67%. The following nematode species were found: Oesophagostomum dentatum, Metastrongylus sp. , Trichuris suis and Ascaris suum.

    The study were carried out in the years 2006−2007 on 57 semi−free living hares. The faeces of these animals were examined by the flotation and McMaster methods. All hares were infected with coccidia. Following six Eimeria species were found: E. leporis, E. europaea, E. robertsoni, E. semisculpta, E. townsendi and E. hungarica. The invasion of the species E. leporis, E. europaea and E. robertsoni were characterized of the highest intensity. A low infection of two nematodes genera Trichostrongylus and Graphidium were found too. The study will be continued in the year 2008.

    The aim of present study was to evaluate acquisition risk of babesiosis in human population exposed to ticks /xodes ricinus by examination of Babesia microti DNA occurrence in ticks of all development stages. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was applied to estimate the occurrence of DNA Babesia microti in Ixodes ricinus. The Bab1 and Bab4 primers were used to amplify fragment, 238bp in length, of 18S rRNA gene for small ribosomal subunit. Amplicons were electroforeticaly separated in agarose gels. Ticks were collected in year 1999 and 2000, twice in each year in spring-summer (May-July) and summer-autumn (August-October) seasons from Goleniów Forest and Pobierowo. These places have been classified as people attendance and tourist areas. The 716 /. ricinus ticks were collected in 1999 with 61.3% of nymphs, 17.8% larvae, 10.9% females and 9.9% males. Highest range of infection was observed in females — 28.8% studied, than males — 18.3%, nymphs — 7.7% and larvae — 3.1%. The total number of 416 /. ricinus was collected in year 2000 with 64% of nymphs, 13.4% males, 11.9% females and 10.7% larvae. The infection with Babesia microti occurred only in three nymphs, which was 0.7% of studied population.

    A total of 250 Merino lambs from the Lubuskie province and 83 Suffolk lambs from the Zachodniopomorskie province were examined. The level of infection with Eimeria protozoa was determined on coproscopic examinations using the Willis-Schlaaf flotation method. The species composition of the coccidia was determined using Pellerdi’s system. The prevalence of lamb infection with coccidia averaged 85.18% in the Zachodniopomorskie province and 55.32% in the Lubuskie province. Coproscopic examinations showed that the animals were infected with different species. Eight species were isolated from faecal samples: E. faurei, E. ovinoidalis, E. pallida, E. intricata, E. parva, E. arloingi, E. ninakohlyakimovae and E. granulosa. E. parva (53%) and E. ninakohlyakimovae (47.8%) were the dominant in the Zachodniopomorskie province, and E. ninakohlyakimovae (65%) and E. intricata (43.3%) in the Lubuskie province.

    The research included 54 individuals of the goosander Mergus merganser L., 1758 (Anseriformes, Mergini), wintering on Lake Dąbie within the administrative limits of Szczecin. Seven species of cestoda from two families were found in those ducks. Two species from the family Diphyllobothriidae were recorded: Ligula intestinalis (Linnaeus, 1758) and Schistocephalus solidus (Müller, 1776), and five species from family Hymenolepididae: Dicranotaenia mergi Yamaguti, 1940, Fimbriaria mergi Grytner−Ziecina et Cielecka, 1995, Microsomacanthus vistulae (Czaplinski, 1960), Retinometra macracanthos (von Linstow, 1877) oraz Tschertkovilepis tenuirostris (Rudolphi, 1819). Founding species Dicranotaenia mergi is the first observation of this type in Poland.

    A total of 109 mammals belonging to 3 wild species: Cervus elaphus, Capreolus capreolus and Sus scrofa were examined post mortem after delivery by hunters to the warehouses of the „Jägerprodukt" company in Sławno and Osowo, and of the „Las" company in Sławsko (Middle Pomerania, Poland). Three species of ectoparasites were collected: Ixodes ricinus, Lipoptena cervi and Haematopinus apri. The highest frequency and the highest index of infestation with ectoparasites were observed in cause of C. elaphus. Lipoptena cervi was the most abundant species on C. elaphus and C. capreolus, and Haematopinus apri - on Sus scrofa.

    . In 2000 and 2006 a total of 20 divers including 15 Gavia stellata and 5 Gavia artica from Pomeranian Bay and Szczecin Lagoon were examined. G. stellata were found to be infected with 3 digenean species: Stephanoprora pseudoechinata (Olsson, 1876), Cryptocotyle concava (Creplin, 1825) and Diplostomum gavium (Guberlet, 1922). G. arctica were host to Echinochasmus spinulosus (Rudolphi, 1809). This is the first record of Stephanoprora pseudoechinata in G. stellata and Echinochasmus spinulosus in G. arctica in Poland. The prevalence of S. pseudoechinata infection (46.7%) was higher than that of other digeneans.

    Internal parasites of cattle in select Western Pomerania farms. The studies were carried out in five farms, on 84 calves and 153 cows. The prevalence and intensity of the Coccidia and gastro-intestinal nematodes infection were determined by means of the Willis-Schlaaf's and McMaster's methods. The Coccidia composition in the examined animals was determined by morphological features of the oocysts and the sporulation time. The following four Eimeria species were isolated: E. bovis, E. aubernensis, E. zürni and E. ellipsoidalis. Two methods were used for detection of Cryptosporidium sp. - the Ziehl-Neelsen staining technique and coproantigen test. In cows, the overall prevalence was Eimeria sp. ranged from 5.5 to 23.4%, gastro-intestinal nematodes ranged from 12.7 to 42.6%. In calves, the overall prevalence Eimeria sp. was ranged from 10.0 to 36.8% oocysts and Cryptosporidium sp. 22.8%.

    Opis:
    Intestinal nematodes of the Aythyini ducks in Western Pomerania. Biology, including ecology, of the Aythyini renders them particularly attractive subjects of parasitological studies. The tribe is represented in Poland by 4 nesting species; two of them, Aythya fuligula and A. ferina, are very abundant game birds. However, their helminth fauna, including nematodes, is stili very poorly known. This study was aimed at quantifying the structure of parasitic intestinal nematodes of the Westem Pomeranian Aythyini. The study, performed in 1999-2004, involved a total of 71 ducks representing 3 species: A. ferina, A. fuligula, and A. marila. The nematodes, isolated from the intestines, were fixed in 75% ethyl alcohol and cleared in lactic acid. Among the 9668 helminth individuals found, 589 (6.1 %) represented the phylum Nematoda. They were found in 57 ducks (80.3% of all the ducks examined). The nematodes - belonged to the following 4 families: Amidostomatidae, Tetrameridae, Acuariidae, and Trichuridae. They were identified as representing 8 species, 2 genera (Amidostomoides sp. and Tetrameres sp.), and 1 subfamily (Capillariinae gen. sp.); in addition, 1 damaged individual could be identified as a nematode only. The highest prevalence (57 .8%), at mean intensity ( 4.8 inds), was typical of Amidostomoides petrovi (Shakhtahtinskaya, 1956) Lomakin, 1991, while Tetrameres fissispina (Diesing, 1861) Travassos, 1914 occurred with the highest intensity (15.1 inds) and 12.7% prevalence. Nematodes of the subfamily Capillariinae occurred with a fairly high intensity (averaging 10.0 inds) as well, although their prevalence was not high, either (4.2% of all ducks were infected). The nematofauna studied was clearly dominated by A. petrovi, T. fissispina, and Capillaria anatis (Schrank, 1790). The total frequency of occurrence of those species was close to 80%; their dominance indices exceeded the threshold value of 0.1 and amounted to 1.6 (the dominant A. petrovi), 0.2, and 0.5 (the subdominants T.fissispina and C. anatis, respectively). The three species listed occurred with the highest mean density (2.8; 1.9; and 1.8 nematode per duck examined). No age- (adult vs. immature) or sex- (males vs. females) related differences in the quantitative structure of the parasitic Aythyini nematodes were observed.

    In 127 specimens of grayling Thymallus thymallus (LINNAEUS, 1758) originating from three rivers: Łeba, Reda and Radunia and caught between 1992 and 1994, 8694 parasite individuals (apart from Protozoa) were found, belonging to 11 species (including one genus determined). Among them Trichodina sp., Ichtyophthirius multifiliis, Plagioporus stefanskii were first ever revealed in grayling. In Poland it has turn out to be a new host for the following parasites: Trichodina sp., Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Diplostomum spathaceum, Crepidostomum metoecus, Plagioporus stefanskii, Cucullanus truttae, Pomphorhynchus laevis. Other species, previously noted in Polish graylings, were also found: Cyathocephalus truncatus, Cystidicoloides ephemeridarum, Echinorhynchus truttae, Echinorchynhus borealis. The differentiated parasitofauna of the grayling in Łeba, Reda and Radunia points to the fish isolation in particular biotopes. It also revealed an increased number of parasite species in fish from Radunia occurring due to the operation of Salmon-like Fishes Culture Centre in Rutki near Gdańsk.
