Opis:: Księga Rodzaju prezentuje historię trzech ojców: Abrahama, Izaaka i Jakuba. Dla Abrahama bycie ojcem oznacza najpierw oczekiwanie prez długi czas syna, a następnie podążanie za obietnicą, którą Bóg mu złożył, szczególnie obietnicą syna. Kiedy narodzili się Ismael i Izaak, uczucia ojcowskie Abrahama zostały poddane próbie. Izmael miał zostać odesłany wraz z Hagar. Po tym Bóg każe mu złożyć w ofeirze jedynego syna, Izaaka. Kiedy Izaak stał się stary i nie mógł widzieć, został zaślepiony przez swoje pragnienie dziczyzny. Przygotował je Ezaw, który został jednak ubiegnięty przez Rebekę, która zyskała błogosławieństwo dla swego umiłowanego syna, Jakuba. Jakub był ojcem najbardziej doświadczonym przez życie. Jego miłość do Józefa i po jego rzekomej śmierci do najmłodszego syna, Beniamina, ostała się próbie.
The Book of Genesis tells a story about three fathers: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. To be a father for Abraham is first to expect a child for a long time, then to follow the words of promise God speaks to him, especially the promise of a son. When Ishmael and Isaac have been born to him, his father affections are put to the tests. Ishmael has to be sent away along with his mother Hagar. Then, God commands him to sacrifice his now only son, Isaac. When Isaac himself was old and could not see, he was blinded by his desire for the venison stew, Esau used to prepare for him, but eventually he was corrected by his wife Rebekah who gained his blessing for Jacob, the son she loved. Finally, Jacob is the most experienced father. His love for Joseph and then after his alleged death, for his youngest son Benjamin, proved to be strong enough and stood the test of time.

Opis:: The present article deals with the essential message of the Fourth Gospel which is based on the relation between Father and Son. The main motive of this article is the last verse of the Prologue (Jn 1:18) which appears like leitmotive in the various contexts of the Gospel of John. In the first part of the article the author describes the relation between Father and Son in the Fourth Gospel. He stresses especially a deep communion between them which determines the function of Son as the Revealer of His Father. In the second part of the article the author makes analysis on the function of Jesus as the Revealer of Father. This function can be seen especially in His words and acts. The main goal of this function is the faith of the Jesus’ disciples in God who is the loving Father and Donor of salvation. In the power of faith every human being can recognize in Jesus the face of Father whose main feature is Love until the mystery of the Cross.

Opis:: The notion of “trial” as an element of the bringing up of Israel. In this article we have tried to prove the thesis that the notion of “trial” derives from Deuteronomy. The “trial” was then combined with another metaphoric motive which depicted the relationship between JHWH and Israel as the relationship between father and son. From the canonic point of view, Israel did not stand up to the trial. Postexilic theology chose Abraham to be a positive example of going through the trial as he represents hope for the future.

Opis:: In the article, the author discusses Jesus’ intitulation of God as Abba and its impact on the idea of God’s fatherhood in the New Testament writings. Responding to the recent criticism of J. Jeremias’s theses (cf. B. Chilton, M.R. D’Angelo), he tries to show that without the initial source, which was Jesus of Nazareth and his public teaching, the dynamic expansion of the idea of God’s fatherhood in the New Testament would not be possible. After a brief presentation of J. Jeremias’s ground-breaking opinion on Jesus’ filial relation to God as Father, encapsulated in the “Abba, Father” cry (Mk 14:36), a second section analyses the texts of the Hebrew Bible and Second Temple Judaism that explore the theological idea of God as Father. The third part focuses on the NT witnesses to God’s fatherhood, i.e. God both as the Father of Jesus Christ and the Father of all believers (υἱοθεσία). In conclusion, the literary evidence preserved in the NT writings and rational arguments point to Jesus of Nazareth as the source and starting point of the NT idea of God’s fatherhood. Jeremias’s study is still valid, and the address “Abba-Father” uttered by the historical Jesus remains the most concise and fullest expression of his filial relation to God.

Opis:: To talk about God’s love is to talk about God Himself, because “God is love” (1 John 4:8). God’s love for men is, in the teaching of John Paul II, the foundation of the papal proclamation. Its source is the inner love of the Holy Trinity. The present article discusses the statement of St. John, who says that “God is love” (1 John 4:8). This statement speaks of the essence of God in the aspect of Trinity’s inmost being and in terms of the economy of salvation. The article also takes up the issue of love of the Father and of the Son, and the question of the Holy Spirit as the Love of the Father and the Son. The Third Person of God, coming from the Father and the Son, is the Breath of Their mutual Love.
